No food, no service, no staff…read more Arrived at this hotel around 5.30pm and used the keysafe to receive my room access card. Room appears clean and functional, but nothing special. Road noise is noticeable. Decided to order room service ... ploughed through the hotel information/room service booklet and no where is there a number to call for room service. The Reception, Restaurant and Room Service buttons on the phone all result in an engaged signal. Not a good start. So I called the public number for the hotel using my mobile and, after a wait of several minutes, was advised "Sorry, we're just an answering service. No one is available". So what do I do for dinner? "Sorry, due to Corona Virus everything is closed". Ok... guess I'll make other arrangements. Then turned my mind to breakfast. The information booklet says "refer to the Breakfast In Your Room" order form... but, of course, there's no order form, and the restaurant is closed. Ok... guess I'll make other arrangements. The next time I come to Shepp? Guess I'll make other arrangements, and so should you. Oh, check out the photos... this place could only be less welcoming if they somehow organised for it to be windy and raining. EDIT: And one more thing. On the bedside table I see the notice - due to renovations, there will be construction noise from 7am. Sure enough, minutes after 7, the hammering and machine noise begins. Construction noise is unavoidable sometimes, but a well run hotel would (a) put guests in rooms away from the noise, and (b) disclose the construction noise issue at time of booking. But this place is not well run. Photos (1) Deserted entrance at 5.30pm (2) Car Park... think I saw it once on Law and Order SVU (donk donk) (3) Noise warning... only once you check in (4) Construction noise from 7am (5) Bird crap at the entrance... classy... and entirely indicative of inattentive management

Opposite lake for walks and a good wine list at the bar. Buffet breakfast is worth missing, just order a menu item as buffeet items were generally cold in warmers. Good coffee, great deserts in evening. New pool and spa looks great.

Dropped in for dinner on a Tuesday night as I heard it's been renovated and was interested to see…read morewhat the place was like now. Renovation weren't that exciting from what I saw just a coat of paint and some new furniture. The painting on the walls had me wondering what theme they were trying to follow. There was no nightly specials that you normally get a pub. No Parmy Wednesday or steak Tuesday or kids eat free Fridays which is usually a bit of a draw card to families. Anyway to the meal. We grabbed a beer from the limited variety they had on tap. And sat at a table and had a look at the menu. First disappointment was there was no garlic or herb bread at all not even a bread roll. The menu was fairly limited and had a fair variety of different types of dishes. The prices were a bit in the higher side for a pub meal so we expected good food. They staff were average not overly friendly but we did get water with a slice of lemon which is always refreshing. Started with spicy chicken wings. These weren't bad just wings in a peri peri sauce. With a bit of roasted peppers and feta. Nice and spicy but nothing you couldn't do at home really. Main we got a Chicken Parmy each. This was a decent size meal the Parmy was stacked on top of some nice crunchy French fries. The Parmy was ok not too dry but no really moist. The crumb was all but falling of mine. The garden salad that was with the meal but had a very bland dressing on it and was just eatable. I had read mixed reviews about the meals and thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt. Over all not bad some of the other patrons meals looked ok. But I always question when they have slow cooked brisket and ribs on the menu how fresh they are. Won't really be in a hurry to go back as plenty of other places that do the same thing but cheaper.

Waitress Lauren was extremely helpful and kind! The cocktails in particular were amazing!read more

The prices of the meal I think were inflated for the special. We had steak for one main and seafood and salad for the other. Don't mind paying $33 for steak and it was scotch fillet steak so not bad, $30 for some fish and battered seafood was just a bit steep I thought. But second meal was free so worth it. You had to pay extra for the gravy for the steak which is normally include in most places. The kids had the old faithful nuggets and chip as there not the most adventurous eaters but a safe bet they will get eaten. The meal wasn't bad the steak cooked as required and a decent serve of chips and salad to fill you up. It's definitely not worth raving about but a decent pub meal. They do have specials on most nights of the week that may take your fancy like a cheap parmy night or $12 of steak night. I would return here again as it was not bad wouldn't mind trying the parmy. It's a fairly simple but old favorite of many.

Very quick service, like amazingly quick service. We ordered and two minutes later the kids meals were on the table. A real gem of a local, pity we live in Perth!
