We thought we must give this pub a visit, it was lunch time and we were hungry and they do amongst other things Indian food. The restaurant is upstairs and oveerlooks the Castle and Mall so if you sit near the window you can see the world go by. The table had not been cleaned very well from the day before neither the floor. Not a good sign, but being hungry we decided to stay, we cleaned up the table and made up one good table from the remaining. The food was supprising reasonable along with the prices. The beer was also good. The pub is trying to make a go of the premises and good houskeeping would go along way to help. They have ideas to help bring home the bacon although not very healthy, what they specialise in a 30cm in diameter burger containing a staggering 40 slices of cheese, it poses a gut-busting challenge for even the hungriest of customers. Equivalent to more than 26 quarter-pounders, the burger comes in at an estimated 13,464 calories - nearly a week's recommended intake for the average man. (I took this info from their advertising).
The meat feast contains three kilos of beef, dwarfing its competitors in the race to be named Britain's biggest - and most calorific - burger. This meal costs £30 but is free to anyone who manages to finish the lot in a two-hour period. You then get £200 in cash if you successfully complete the challenge. How long you will live after eating that is another competition, answers on a post card please. read more
