ordered a pair of asics running shoes on amazon with the ordered being filled by this company. Ordered on 7/8 and no response for 2 weeks. Called them and they said they were back ordered and didn't know if and when they would be available. I have since ordered from asics direct and will have them by July 31. Point here is that no one called or emailed me about the delay of the order...I HAD TO CALL THEM. VERY POOR, POOR C USTOMER SERVICE. We were down on this side of town and were killing time before our dinner reservation. We decided to walk the block and found Outdoor Equipped. We were not even aware this location existed, mainly because of the construction going on in the area. When you walk in, they have shoes, outdoor apparel, accessories, and more. Everything is priced at what you would expect for the various brands that they have, and did not seem more expansive than what you would pay at other stores or online. Fake inventory. They never had it in stock: I ordered a ski jacket online with Outdoor Equipped for an upcoming ski trip. They said it was in stock. The order was accepted. Few days later, the order was marked shipped but without tracking info. However, after not getting it for 10 days, I messaged Outdoor Equipped to get the tracking info. At this time, they informed me that they never had inventory for this item, it was never shipped, and they need to cancel my order. So their inventory was a scam. In the meantime, I won't be able to get another jacket from somewhere else because 10 days were wasted. Now I have to go ski with no ski jacket. Do not trust this company! read more

Visited the store during a recent trip to Wilmington. I didn't buy anything simply because I'm all stocked up in the outdoor goods I currently need in my life. However I could've easily convinced myself to buy something here. Over half of the store was dedicated to clothing and shoes. There were items for men and women. Right now it's a bit of a warm winter in the south so the winter clothing hanging around wasn't especially appealing. They do have some bags, hammocks and a few knick-knacks for camping and hiking. One thing I saw a lot of was an "anywhere" gear hook made from aluminum and including a rope for tying to a tree, wall, etc. I almost bought this. Staff was friendly and helpful when we needed it. Didn't have a good look at a lot of prices but they seemed to fall in line with about what you could expect for the same items at REI, etc. read more

Zero stars Third party seller...Don't do it. Brought Pajar boots through Amazon. Had to return to Outdoor Equipped (a third party seller)because they were too small. Was charged a 20%restocking fee. Roughly $95. That's corruption not a REASONABLE restocking fee. The boots are listed on Amazon again for the original price. What a ripoff. The restocking fee was not mentioned when I requested the return via Amazon. Nor was it made clear at the time of purchase. Now Amazon states they are not responsible for what third party sellers refund policy. They can do anything to you on Amazon and get away with it. Meanwhile on their own company website Outdoor Equipped they boast if your not satisfied with a product you buy from them you can return for a full refund. Customer service at its best. We had no idea how to prep for a big hike and the staff gave us tips, stayed with us as we tried things on, and the team even put my new shoelaces on my boots for me. I actually had a bad and expensive experience. After placing my order I got an email from them saying that my order wasn't complete so I placed the order. I had NOT HAD an acknowledgement prior to that saying that the order was complete so I placed it again. The boots didn't fit so I had to return them to the tune of about $16. When I called to say I got the second pair, LEO offered no apologies and said I had to send them back at my expense as it was my fault for pressing the order again.. I KNOW I didn't send myself that email that the order hadn't been placed. Leo you have a lot to learn. I shall NEVER do business with them again. I always chose to go with the smaller stores for the great service but this one was a real drag and I was not treated as a customer of any value so now I'll never be a customer at all nor will I ever be able to give a good reference for the customer service. read more

I ordered a pair of boots online. I have had these same boots for years, however the left boot of this pair dug in the top of my foot at the seam. I went to return them without incident, but they stated it would cost $28. I then called several numbers at Outdoor Equipped. I had to initially leave a voicemail, they had nobody to answer at customer service. Then I was told I would be forced to pay the return cost and restocking fee and only of the boots were found to be defective I would have my full paid amount returned! They claimed FedEx handled the order which was shipped on 12/29/2020. I should receive it between 12/29 and 1/07/21. According to policy, I'm not eligible for a refund due to the fact that the shipment does not meet maximum "receive by" date. Today is 3 days past that! FedEx update states no such tracking number recorded! If going through 2nd or 3rd party sellers, these companies should be aware that they are being judged by these sellers. read more

It appears that they are making quite a profit off of their return policy. They deem the product damaged by you and take whatever deduction they want from your return. They deducted $25 from my return for a pair of shoes that I tried on and put right back in the box for return. I see from their reviews that they have done this same thing to others. DO NOT ORDER FROM SELLER : OUTDOOR EQUIPPED. Be advised, this tiny shop is in the business of wasting your most valuable commodity: TIME. A purchase was made via amazon and tried the seller because of a specific color of jacket I wanted that amazon prime did not but this shop purportedly did............purportedly. As soon as purchase was made, the status was changed to "processing for shipment".......FOR THE NEXT 7 days. (This prevents people from exercising their freedom to cancel the order). When you request a specific date of ship out or eta, they will give you a boilerplate reply: "We try to be efficient with our shipping and deliveries. I checked on your order and found that it is still on the process. Please refer to the details below concerning the shipment and delivery dates; which Amazon also have given you when you checked out." So what happens when they TRIED AND FAIL to ship on the day promised and you request a cancellation? The status will mysteriously change to SHIPPED and you will likely receive an email response like this one : "your item will be shipping out today do you still want to cancel your order ?"........makes you think twice doesn't it? After all, who want to waste the 7 days you spent waiting?..... Thankfully, my experience with them ends here as I went ahead and cancelled the order. It is highly likely this shop does not carry the stock they purportedly claim to have at the time of purchase. Rather, it is my opinion that they first take the order, change the status on the order to prevent cancellation, order the product from the original retailer (saving them the burden of stocking the item), wait for the item to be received and forward it to the customer which explains why they don't have an answer for when the product will ship out other than give you a range of dates. If the customer requests a refund, they'll gouge them with excessive "re-stocking" fee and resell the item in their shop effectively stocking their tiny shop on the cheap........it's an ingenious business model..........for a third world country. First time online shopper. Had an experience that lines up with Joey H's. Ordered an item and it took 9 days just to ship out. I ordered pair of board shorts for a trip to Hawaii and didn't get the shorts in time. Had to buy a pair of shorts when I got there. Wasted my time and my money (since I had to pay full retail when I could've shopped elsewhere online and found a deal had I known I wouldn't receive my item in time). When I asked their CS what they planned to do about the inconvenience, a guy named Sonny basically said he would do nothing for me. Awful Customer Service. I don't care how cheap something is online.
