They found a alternator in Calgary and finished both jobs in short order to limit my hotel stay. Then kept me updated at each stage. I would recommend them again.

Obviously concerned that it would not be road worthy (as it had little power), and trying to get a tow from Invermere to Calgary would likely be very difficult and expensive, if at all possible during the H93 fires. Made a call to Cleanline and they got me in the following Friday first thing at 8AM. A day and time that worked best for us seeing we'd have to drive back out from Calgary, so they were very accommodating. My Audi was diagnosed right away, and luckily the part was available locally. It was repaired and ready for pick up before noon. Aaron is very knowledgeable and the shop is very professional. The diagnostic charge was a little higher than I would pay for here in Calgary, but well worth it in this case as towing not required and peace of mind everything in bringing the car back to Calgary in great driving condition. Would definitely consider Cleanline for future repairs/service on our other vehicles. A real GEM in the Valley! Thanks so much! -Paula-

Keith from Walker's could not promise anything. Walker's are closed Sat & Sun. Sat morning Keith called to confirm that the battery and alternator needed to be replaced, and gave me a quote. Called me Monday morning to advise that the van was fixed and available for pickup at the quoted price. His mechanic Alex had come in on Sunday to do the repair. Can not emphasize how happy we were to have our van back to drive home to Edmonton, and enthusiastically recommend Walker's. Tom M. By the way, we were to leave Saturday, but were stuck without our van, and thought we might not be able to leave till later in the week.

Finding a good mechanic is damn hard. In Invermere I had a couple of bad experiences with places…read morecharging well over their quotes. One of these replaced my clutch and when we picked up the car they said I needed new ball joints ASAP. Unhappy with being charged $90 more than the possible maximum amount we were quoted, I went to Walker's, told them I was in the market for new ball joints and that I'd like to know when they could do it. Ross checked out the car on the spot and gave the ball joints another 8 months before needing to be replaced. And with that, I knew I found someone who wasn't just out to make bucks, but to actually provide customer care and service. I vowed to return when it was time and went on my way. I took the car in for ball joints 8 months later, they did it for under what they quoted and I was happy with how they took care of me and the corolla. Each subsequent trip to Walker's left me feeling so lucky to have a friendly, honest mechanic that I eventually told everyone I could to go to Walker's. A few times when I had an old worn out part replaced, Ross would take me into the garage and show me the old part, what was wrong with it and why it needed to be replaced. Kind of a "just so you know what that noise/problem was" kind of moment. Eventually, I gave the Corolla away and bought an Xterra, which needed far less part replacements and I could easily change my own oil due to the high ground clearance, but I still took it to Walker's for routine big things (timing belt, water pump) and the occasional B service when I didn't have time to do it all myself. Each time it was so easy: call and make an appointment for the next day, drop it off in the AM, stop by in the PM, pay and off I went. No need for them to call when it's done as long as you communicate with them that you'll stop by shortly before closing - at least it worked for me. Now that I live in Toronto I miss having a shop like Walker's just down the road from me, honest and reliable. So go to these guys for me, since I can't. (Review based on experiences from 2005-2010)

A few months back my VW van over heated on me and died on me on my way to Panorama, so I needed to…read morehave it towed to a shop so I called around and asked places If they worked on old Volkswagens and Vince said he could. I brought it in and he he said that the smoking from my engine was probably a shorted wire (I should have just left as soon as he said that) and maybe the head gaskets had gone. When I got it back (which took a while) he had changed some wires, a sensor and an oil cooling coil and never made mention of the gaskets again. I drove not even 2 km down the road and it died on me again so I called him up and he told me to bring it back in. The second time he claimed that it was the throttle body and said it died because the engine was running two rich and it messed up the oil pressure. I called a VW mechanic I knew back home and told him the situation and said it was not impossible but that it sounded much more like a head gasket but with out looking he couldn't say. After another 2 weeks I got the van back with a rebuilt throttle body and a few new coolant hoses. It had troubles starting that It had never had but It ran. I drove back up to Pano and sure enough by the time I get there my temp light was going nuts, smoke pouring out the back and my oil pressure light and warning alarm all yelling at me. The exact same thing I brought it in to him for. I called him, and as you can imagine I was furious, I told him that he never fixed the problem and his response was "It runs now, when you brought it back It wouldn't start. It's an old engine there are lots of problems." and then said to bring it back. But seeing as by this time he had it for a month, had charged me just under $1200 (would have been more if I hadn't caught the random extras he tried to charge me!), and hadn't fixed a thing, I did not do that. I had it towed to the Volkswagen dealer service shop in Cranbrook, explained everything to them and the first response was "Nothing he did makes any sense at all. He went about it completely wrong). They Looked at the Head gaskets and said the internal engine components were so over heated they had turned blue and probably were all warped. They sent the gaskets to a machine shop and confirmed this and recommended a whole new engine. They said that there was NO coolant in the van and that I had been driving around like that. In the end they fixed it because this guy has no idea what the hell he is doing. One of my friends had an oil change here in is new Ford, and a few weeks later drove to Calgary. While he was there his oil light came and the car wouldn't start. He took it to a dealership and they said it was just a faulty oil filter. I do not recommend any one goes here for anything no matter how small. He has no clue what he is doing and had terrible communication through out the entire process. In the words some one else who has dealt with him "I wouldn't trust that guy to pour me a coffee".

I then realized that there was a mistake and the bus had left at 9 AM that same day, or nearly 12 hours after I was booking it. Yes I realize that I should have been more careful but I also didn't think that an automated system would let me book a bus that had already left. I called the next day to let them know about the error and they offered to put us on to the 9 AM bus as we had intended to book. That would have been fine except that we were still almost two hours away in Calgary. Then the fun began. After many, many questions I asked that the money be refunded. The person on the phone agreed. Four e-mails and a number of calls later, still no refund. I now have to get the credit card company involved. No integrity or service here.

With his clipboard showing 12 paid customers, the driver/guide arrived in a van with seats for 11 passengers(!). After he finally realized his miscalculation, he called the WMA office. Following a 45 minute wait, a taxi arrived to take the 12th passenger to the ski resort behind the van. The web page description indicates a 2.5 hour trip on snowshoes. Including the gondola and chairlift rides up the mountain and frequent stops to explain how to use snowshoes, walk in them, recover from a fall, break for cocoa and cookies (provided by WMA), detailed descriptions of continental divides, local fauna and wild animals, the total actual snowshoeing time was probably just over one hour. For a beginner, this is probably ok but any experienced snowshoer will be unsatisfied. The terrain is varied, expansive and beautiful; our beginning altitude was 7875 feet, descending c. 1000 feet to the gondola ride back to the van. The guide was very nice and is expansions clear.
