I ordered a burger (freshly cooked in a couple of minutes) with raw onions and mayonnaise for just £2 which was served in a large plain white bun; that definitely filled me and I would go back again whenever I'm in need of a convenient lunch. Since they boast such a wide variety of ingredients such as various pre-cooked meats, sliced salads and other condiments, the choice is really yours. In addition, they sell jacket potatoes which sound mouth-watering and tempting (especially on a cold day)! Clarke's Richmond Deli is much better than your average sandwich bar. Plus, the lovely aromas that are emitted make you want to go even more.

If that could be a motto or brand slogan for a deli - sorry butty shop! - then that might be a good one for Clarke's. There seems to be little mucking about with things like rocket - which I hate, it is horrible no matter how many chefs and foodies use it these days, it's a weed! - Clarke's serve good, some might say traditional sandwiches, in a straightforward manner like roast beef, ham - just ham nowt fancy done to it - and various chickens - coronation and tikka basically - and all at very cheap prices - usually below £3 - for a good size butty.

At Mario's tiny café next door to Greggs in Liverpool ONE, you have an excellent little eat-in or take-away service based on simple English and Italian dishes. The best thing about this pleasant cafe is that food is generally cheap, quickly served and delicious. At least I thought so, after I ordered spaghetti Bolognese with meatballs for just £2.90. Even though I only got two meatballs, the pasta, Bolognese sauce and cheese topping was tasty and satisfactory for the price. I would probably go back there again and try their other range of dishes, such as jacket potatoes, homemade sandwiches and full English breakfast. The café appeared well maintained and service was great. Although there aren't many seats, it's an ideal place to bring a couple of friends for more than just a quick bite.

About last night…read more.. We REALLY enjoyed this meal. We started with mushroom arancini, focaccia, oxtail stew, and seriously, all three were amazing!! I've never had ox anything, and I'm a believer now... I had beef burg for my main, hubby had the venison and dad had the halibut and all three were simply fantastic! All were perfectly tender, lean, and full of flavor with sides that complimented them perfectly. And the desserts.. chocolate lava cake with salted caramel ice cream and dad had the sticky ginger cake and dad and hubby truly enjoyed these final courses. The chocolate cake surprised us when Mark cut into it and a lovely ganache poured out.. dad said the sticky ginger cake was light, not too sweet, but nice flavor. We were beyond stuffed, but even dad said "you found a gem with this place!" We would definitely return here regularly if we lived in England!! Service was really good! Our servers were friendly and attentive. They always asked how everything was with each course and everything was correct. Even though it was packed, and there were two of them, they did a great job staying on top of everything! The ambiance... it's too packed for such an amazing experience. They will be moving and good thing because they are going to need the extra room!! It was a bit hard to hear each other when it was a full house, but when half the room cleared, it was really pleasant. Overall, best food and service experience we've had in the two weeks we've been in England, hands down. And if we lived here, this is where we would take friends and family to "wow" them!
