Our daughter started going to Our School in April 2023 when she just turned 2.5 and fully potty trained (required). And now she is going to be turning 5 this summer and graduating! Time flies and I couldn't be more thankful for the wonderful women who make this school so special. It is truly a safe space and a home away from home. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Where to begin? I've toured a lot of preschools before seeing Our School and I instantly fell in love with how cozy and intimate the environment felt. Some of the other schools felt a little too "corporate." Here, there's no app or portal. Just good old fashion face-to-face chats with teachers and Ms Janel. They genuinely foster a sense of community so it feels like you are a part of the school too. In general, the school is well structured and organized. The staff ensures a good mix of boys and girls and will move kids up classes when they are ready socially and emotionally. Our daughter started off in Ms Yolanda's class, then Ms Doretha's class, and now in Ms Tiff's class. She has so much fun! She's grown so much socially and academically. The school gives you a booklet of the work they do everyday and it's such a treat to see how much they progress over time. I have no doubt she is more than prepared for kindergarten. The school also has a saltwater pool and my daughter swam everyday in the summer as an extracurricular (additional fee). This is her third summer swimming and is swimming like a fish. In the fall and spring, the school offers dance and gymnastic and pizza Mondays year-round for an additional fee. There's tons of fun activities that Miss Tiff does to make school so engaging and exciting. But above all, they all know your child SO well that you know they are truly paying attention to each child everyday. And during the Eaton Fires, Miss Tiff opened up her heart to make school feel as normal as possible and made sure the Our School families were cared after. Pajamas days, lunch provided for all students, donation drives for affected families, she did it all. There is so much intention and humanity built into this school and I am so grateful to have been a part of it. It's going to be really hard to say goodbye. read more

Our son started at Our School when he was 2 1/2 and is now saying goodbye three years later as he heads off to kindergarten. It's been incredible watching him grow and the staff at Our School deserves so much credit. They work with each child to make sure they meet them at their level rather than forcing them into a preconceived developmental box. There's so much love in this place and the passion for students is contagious. And the big plus is the pool! My son started at 2.5 and graduated then my daughter started when she was 2.5 (still there). My sister in law and her brother went there almost 40 years ago (still pictures of them on the wall). We love it! The students are always happy and my kids love going to school. The students are well prepared when they leave to go to elementary school. We can't even begin to say how much we love this school! Our older daughter went there 13 years ago and is now entering her junior year of high school with a 4.0 GPA and another full slate of AP classes. We can confidently say these school work ethics began when she started Our School. Our School helped us instill in her structure, manners, respect, and empathy for others. We are so thankful that the school is still going strong 12 years later, now that we have a 4-year-old and are starting all over again. The same values and loving care that our first daughter received are still going strong the second time around. The staff is still the same from 12 years ago, which says a lot about the school. They value their teachers as well as their students. It takes a lot of love and care to create an environment like that. We value the structure and the attention to the care of education, as well as social and emotional learning that is given to each child. Besides the fact that this is the cleanest school that we have ever seen! They take pride in the school, and it is evident by the sparkle of every inch of this school. Our 4-year-old comes home daily, telling us about the things she has learned or the funny things she has experienced on the playground. It is very obvious that she enjoys the time she spends at school, making friends, learning, and gaining confidence from the teachers, and best of all, she can't wait to go back each day. I also must mention that one of the Crown Jewels of this school is the swim program! Mrs. Moore is a Jedi ninja swim instructor who has been teaching kids to swim for over 40 years. They will have your kid swimming within a few weeks and put your mind at ease with pool and water safety. I personally don't know any other preschool that also has an on-site swim program! During the winter months, dance and gymnastics are offered. As a busy set of working parents, it is wonderful that our daughter can participate in these activities during the day, which allows us to have family time at the end of the day instead of running around to a multitude of activities. We cannot express how truly grateful that we are to have this school and its family in our lives for almost 2 decades now! They are truly remarkable! read more

We love Our School! My son started here at 2 and a half, and as soon as we toured the school, my husband and I knew it was the perfect place for him. It has an old school and homey vibe that gave us a good feeling. The teachers are all wonderful and you can tell that they really love the work they do. There is a structured schedule that they stick to daily, which I think has been really good for my son. Plus, they are somehow able to get the boy to nap, which is a feat all in itself. We have also loved that they offer a swimming program in the summertime, 5 days a week: a truly immersive experience that has been invaluable to my son. They will also send you videos of your child so you can see how they progress, which I love to see. I would recommend anyone and everyone to send their child to Our School. read more

I 100% recommend Our School to parents who are looking for a preschool, pre-k. It is my son's third year attending this school and our experience has been amazing. If you like the idea of a highly experienced staff that feels like an extension of your family, this licensed preschool might just be your match! You've got three generations at the heart of this school, which is truly special. Mrs. Moore is the ultimate matriarch and such an important presence for the children. She watches over drop off and after-care pick-up, AND teaches the kids how to SWIM during the school's highly-rated and coveted summer swim program! 5 days a week the kids are placed in small groups in the pool with Mrs. Moore and a professional lifeguard learning that life-saving and confidence/building skill! We love it so much. The peace of mind and obvious convenience those lessons provide is beyond measure. Ms. Janel is the Director, and she embodies her role wonderfully, guiding parents and children through any bumpy times that might arise. All the teachers are incredibly engaged and creative, developing special bonds with each of their students. "Work" papers and fun art projects come home on the regular, so you know the kids are consistently stimulated. Miss Tiff loves to read books (she even wrote one of her own recently!!) and encourages the kids to bring their own selections to share with the class: our son loves this. Dance parties and darling little special events and plenty of unique activities (a grape tasting?!? Crazy hair day! Egg hunt @the Big Kid school! Assorted Ice cream day! Chinese New Year celebration?! Etc.) round out the full experience of attending Our School. Our School holds such a special place in my heart, not only because my son currently attends and absolutely loves it, but because my sister went here over 30 years ago. It's amazing to see that the same warmth, care, and community spirit still thrive today. From the moment we enrolled, we felt welcomed and supported. Can I give Our School more than five stars? Our son went to our school for the past two years and we could not have been in better hands. The love, care, and attention they give to the kids knows no limit. I am so proud of how far my son has come and how much he has learned because of our school. He is so kind, respectful, and helpful, which they have helped foster. Everyday he would come home and tell me what he learned and I would be blown away. He was so excited to go to school and to be around his classmates. They have the best educators! Miss Tiff is one of the most amazing educators and humans I have met. This is an absolute gem of a school! My daughter has been attending Our School since the spring of 2023, when she was 2.5. She is now "graduating" and will be starting Kindergarten in the Fall. All the teachers are so kind and nurturing. Ms. Janel knows everything that is going on, and I felt so safe and confident leaving my daughter in her care. The teachers are all so supportive, and they foster a culture of kindness and respect. The teachers understand that each child is unique and special, and they find ways to connect with every child. It has been wonderful to see my daughter's confidence grow, and I know she is well prepared for the next chapter. Mrs. Moore also teaches swimming every summer, and her daughter loves swim class! She can now swim across the pool and has been taught all the foundations of water safety. This past year, my daughter has been in Miss Tiff's "big kid" class. Miss Tiff has the most wonderful positive energy, and the children trust her. Miss Yoland, Miss Doretha, and Miss Stephanie are also fantastic educators! Can't say enough wonderful things about Our School. The owners truly care about the wellbeing and flourishing of each family and child. During the years my daughter attended, she always surprised us with her academic capabilities. (Though, she'd say her favorite parts were the swim program and the annual Christmas recital!) Beyond the teaching and classroom, what also really sets Our School apart was just how above and beyond they went in the community sense. During the fires they did fundraisers and whatever they could for families impacted. When our youngest was born with a stressful and rare disease they constantly checked in on us and offered comfort, support and resources. We (very luckily) found Our School after our prior preschool was destroyed in the Eaton fire. It was recommended to us by a friend whose children were already attending. The loving women who run this school (three generations of a family) made an otherwise very difficult time so much smoother and easier for us. Fast forward six months, and my 5 year old son and 4 year old daughter are still there, and loving it! It's clear that their teachers have taken the time to get to know them as individuals, highlighting their strengths while also working with them through their challenges. I have seen great progress in their pre-reading and writing skills, their ability to handle mistakes, and overall social skills. An added perk is that the kids can take daily swim lessons (for an added fee) through the summer, and this has done wonders for their confidence in the pool. Our School has been a tremendous positive influence on our kids. We had the typical reservations going in: will my kids be okay? What will they be doing all day? Will they eat their lunch? They are just barely potty trained....and on and on. Our School handled it all with flying colors. Their strength is their experience. There is very little you can ask them without them already have dealt with it in their 40+ years. Further, they are accessible. They take the time to hear you out and provide a calming reassurance you can only get from a family atmosphere. Add in the extracurricular activities, amazing summer swimming, holiday events, etc. and it's extremely hard to not recognize the effort they put in to educate and grow your child. Just like anything, you cannot be everything to everyone. Our School doesn't pretend to be. They are comfortable with their process and have the alumni base as reassurance the process works. I highly recommend Our School is on your list to interview. They will be in honest in their assessment if it's a good fit for your family. Our School is a 50 year old business run by three generation of caring women - Ms. Moore, Ms. Janel and Ms. Tiffany. In addition to academics, they teach children to be caring, respectful and kind. Ms. Janel has a depth of knowledge and frequently gave us advice on how to manage kids behavior to alleviating colds, allergies and bug bites. Our two kids graduated from Our School and won awards at their respective schools within the first month for academics and kindness/respect. What a GEM of a school this is. As an Our School Alum I have very fond memories of my time here. My son currently attends Our School for their summer program and the only regret I have is that I didn't enroll him sooner. It's only been a couple of weeks and since that time he has learned how to swim without fear (he was fearful of water prior to this and wouldn't step foot near a pool) and seems much more confident with his self-esteem. My 5-year old boy is about to graduate from Our School. We are so amazed and pleased with the growth he enjoyed here in the past few years. He started without speaking English and now play well with other kids. He loves his teachers, his class, and the school. He was very engaged in learning spelling, developed nice mathematical skills of his age, and had tons of fun swimming in the pool. We were well guided and supported in the elementary application process. We are excited the next chapter and will miss the experience at Our School. All the staff at Our School are nice and friendly. Our School is absolutely wonderful in every way. I started taking my eldest daughter for swim in the summer, which was very successful she began to swim within the first week. My middle child attends now its been 2 years now including summers. She looks forward to school every day and absolutely adores Miss Tiff! The school is very clean outdoors and indoors. 2 years and 2 months since the previous review, both of my kids have finished their formative learning at Our School - a total of 4+ years that I drop my kids off every day at that cute little driveway, I will for sure miss that routine and Miss Moore welcoming the kids with a big warm smile. My review of Our School is still nothing but positive. The staffs and teachers really care about the children and create the best environments for kids to have fun and learn. Safety was also important throughout the pandemic before the mask order was lifted. Our School tried their best to minimize risks for the little ones by setting up rules for both parents and kids. Three generations of dedicated and strong women helping the little ones grow - you don't really get any better than that. Learning was also very fun for my children. My daughter graduated with great reading and writing skills that enabled her to be confident in first grade as one of the youngest in her class. She thrived in her new school and I believe the social skills she developed in Our School contributed to her success and adaptability. Swim class is still a blast and all kids come out with strong water skills. I highly recommend Our School to any parents who want their kids to have a great start in their learning journey! read more

My five-year-old is finishing up his time at Our School and I am so very grateful for the past three years he spent there. Every teacher and member of the staff has gone above and beyond - sharing photos and videos, creating special celebrations for holidays, birthdays, rights of passage, etc, caring for him when he had any illness that cropped up, and they all know my child so well. My son wakes up every morning excited to go to school and I feel confident that I am sending him off to a warm, caring, yet structured environment where he truly thrives. The excellent summer swim program taught him confidence and grew his skills in the water. When he entered at three he couldn't swim. At five, he can now dive, touch the bottom, float on his back, swim the length of the pool... I am amazed at his skill (thank you, Mrs. Moore!). As a teacher, I had heard rave reviews through the years from my students' parents and now I can say I have witnessed the magic myself. Oh, and the teacher that did the physical force action to our kid is the owner's daughter, and eventually our kid was kicked out of the school, and his stuff was sent to us, and they threatened us that they'll sue us if we follow up or continue with any more allegations. Later on we heard that the Department of Social Services Licensing investigated this place and one of the parents told us so many kids were misplaced for days and couldn't go to class and had to stay outside since they were not placed in the class or age range they were supposed to be by policies. We deeply regret sending our kid to this place and would not recommend it to anyone. If you ever tour this place, just pay attention that you won't hear a peep from a kid or any kid happily enjoying their time or having fun. I felt like I visited an army base but still got fooled by their long waitlist and some false impressions we got from online reviews. read more

Our son and daughter have attended Our School for the past several years. We have had the pleasure of working with multiple teachers at the school and have been impressed by the attention and care that every member of the staff devotes to the children. We have had the pleasure of watching our daughter come out of her shell since being in Miss Tiff's TK/Kindergarten class and seeing both children become proficient swimmers through Mrs. Moore's summer swim program. We have very much appreciated the structure of the programming and attention to academic skill acquisition, which is balanced by the warmth and love the staff show for the children. Our daughter is about to finish up her time at Our School before she goes on to TK, and she has truly benefited and grown so much during her time at this wonderful school. She started right after she turned 2 in June of 2020 and is now 4.5 years old. We started during a difficult time with Covid, but everyone at Our School was so welcoming and kept the lines of communication open. We knew what the school was doing to keep the kids safe, and we were so thankful for our daughter to have somewhere to go and be around other kids in a structured environment during such an important time in her development. Seeing Mrs. Moore every morning in the driveway during pick up and drop off has been a highlight of our days, and I know my daughter will miss her big hugs. I like that the school is small and family-run. It feels like a very nurturing and cozy environment. Mrs. Moore is a caring and dedicated teacher and mother. Her daughter, Ms. Janel, is the Director of the school, and her granddaughther, Miss Tiff, is the kindergarten teacher. I've called Ms. Janel countless times to discuss scheduling and other items, and she always picks up (I think I've only left a message once in the past 2.5 years!) and is happy to talk through any questions or concerns. She is a wonderful source of parenting advice as well. I've also e-mailed Miss Tiff numerous times and she is very responsive and just such a funny and kind person. They really run the school well. My daughter has had a few different teachers as she's aged up into the next classrooms, and each one has been great. She is confident, and I know she has a solid foundation for elementary school. The swim program is phenomenal. Everyone is surprised and says how lucky we are when we tell them that our daughter's preschool has a pool and she can take lessons 4 days a week during the summer months. Our daughter became water safe and had so much fun learning to swim. The lessons are built in to the daily schedule so we didn't need to take her elsewhere, and I know that receiving lessons more than 1-2x per week helped her learn more quickly. In addition to swimming, the school offers other extracurriculars throughout the year during the day, such as dance and taekwondo. Pizza Mondays are great so we don't need to pack a lunch on those days. The school also offers a fun nighttime event for the parents once a year to get to know one another and the staff. We were very lucky to be a part of the Our School family and will miss everyone dearly. To us, Our School is the most delightful preschool and pre-K program around and we feel so fortunate to have had our children attend for so long! This group of people have my heart! I can't say enough good things honestly. The ENTIRE staff is composed of complete gems. There is the magical family trio of Ms. Janel, who with her mother Ms. Moore, and her daughter Ms. Tiffany, have run this school for many years (over 40!) and it is CLEAR they love what they do and they care for each and every child. They become like family - taking time to truly get to know your child and help them learn with kindness, insight and emotional intelligence. Both of our kids went there for several years and I'm so glad that they had that experience. Both of them did great and learned so much and I believe it set them up for success as they got older and moved on to another school. In our experience, Our School provides a dependable, consistent and organized structure designed for the children to thrive - as well as a VERY clean environment (they have full time housekeepers!) and lots of handwashing and careful practices the kids carry with them later in life. They also have a fun, loving and experienced staff who we all looked forward to greeting daily at drop off and pick up. My children often wanted to pick their teachers or Ms. Janel flowers to present to them, or make them cards, simply because they adored them - which as a parent really warms your heart to know they are enjoying their experience at school. HUGE bonus worth noting is that Mrs. Moore runs a Spring/Summer add-on swim course on the campus four days a week - this is such a huge deal and so unique - both of my children learned to swim confidently through that program. This was awesome because we tried other swim programs before enrolling at Our School and none were even as remotely effective - plus the kids have something wonderful to look forward to daily to break up their day! There are other lovely perks like tons of genius crafts coming home regularly, fun gatherings, a sweet parent community and a holiday pageant at the end of each year that was better than the Oscars lol! We miss them and will always adore them.
