I go here now and LET ME TELL YOU, I would not recommend going here. This school is a ghetto place,…read morein my class there is a kid always throwing up gang signs and making magnetic guns. The teachers here treat you unfairly and are sarcastic and flat out mean. One day I was minding my business at lunch, and I get a orange peel thrown at me. I threw it back at THEIR table because I'm not a maid, nor slave, nor servant. So I'm simply not going to take their trash or have it thrown at me like I am trash. They threw more things, so I did what was right and told the authority, but due to the lack of logic these teachers have, they failed to get me away from the situation but put me beside the problem itself. They sat me next to the student who threw the food, and a teacher decided to yell at me to sit down like I was the problem. Now I don't often name drop, but it gets to a point where I'm feeling mistreated. Ms. Wyatt (a teacher), and Mr. G the 7th grade principle, did not fix the situation. You say bullying is a no go, but you continue to let it go on with no consequences for the students who caused this chaos. I went to this school because I heard it was great and now I'm disappointed. Ms. Wyatt favors the boys, and she only acts like a good teacher when a suit comes in. She lets the boys sit on the air vents with their phones out, but if the girls even try sitting down on an air vent they get yelled at to get off. I'm greatly disappointed that there are only a few teachers that will take action aka Mr.Gray and Mrs. Black in this 7th grade team. All I know is that this school fails to take action when things like bullying happen and especially when a student decides to speak up about it.

I went to see the Cincinnati Men's Chorus 2018 holiday show (courtesy of Yelp - thank you!). The space was absolutely fantastic. I love the regal feel of the old theater architecture: it's a hybrid of Neo-Classical meets Art Deco: simply stunning! There are so many cool architectural features including a Greek/Roman nautical theme, and beautiful Rookwood drinking fountains. Who could help being inspired when studying/learning/performing in such a grand space? It's so great to see the obvious pride and alumni involvement that Walnut Hills has reflected in the preservation of their beautiful campus.

Why review a high school? Because it's there! And maybe your children should go. Since children…read morearen't allowed on Yelp, this is for parents. Walnut is the college preparatory magnet school in the Cincinnati Public Schools system. Cincy has a controversial tracking system like Germany. I support it. Others do not. Walnut has 7-12 in the same building allowing students access to activities and clubs with other students across all the grades. It is large enough that almost every student can find a niche and friends. Activities and niches are an antidote to jr high-high student on student psychic oppression. Other Cincy 7-12 magnet schools may also remedy. Walnut academics are the star. There are outstanding AP options and all the prep in earlier grades to be ready. The other star is diversity - students from every neighborhood - diverse like the real world. I learned hugely from fellow students outside my neighborhood. My year the college bound rate was 94%. Of the close friends who did not go to college right after graduating, one is a psychiatrist and the other is a masters-degreed international consultant. One of the most notable things about Walnut is its Alumni Association. It's a network when you are in the school and after graduating. The Alumni Association raises money for capital improvements, like constructing a new science building, and it raises operating money for student programs. There isn't family money for a student to travel to a chess tournament? Alum money is there for that. Walnut is because every parent, every teacher, every alum wants every student to succeed and change the world. They do. Frankly every public school should be and can be the same! Of course Cincy has many suburbs with many fine high schools of their own. And Cincy has private schools. Say you were moving to Cincy. Where should I live with kids? Sometimes Yelpers want to live in the city proper. What are the K-6? If you have kiddos, study the data for each school and district. What K-6 is doing what, What 7x12s do they feed. What colleges are those feeding? Of high schools, Walnut is one of the top handful in the Cincy area, top state, and does very well in the country lists.
