Highly recommend this clinic! Their warm and attentive staff listened to my concerns about my cat, and made helpful recommendations on how to improve her health. They were able to accommodate an appointment on short notice and pricing was very fair. We switched to Our Pet's Vet for Dr. Cathy Nguyen and her expertise and care for our two little senior dogs (both ~8lbs; 1 mix, 1 pure; 11+ years in age) sometime in mid-2021. She is the best out there in terms of care, efficiency, and cost of service for elder dogs. Once she took over this business in 2021, it was a no brainer regarding who would be the best vet for our 2 little ones. Over the past year, Dr. Cathy Nguyen has provide a breadth of services for both of our dogs. General preventative care (vaccines, dental hygiene, and health assessments) as well as emergency care / procedures (accidental drop, digestive issues, surgery). This is what happens when you have Senior Dogs. You end up using a Vet for ALL the services they can possibly offer. In all of those instances, Dr. Kathy Nguyen was able to diagnose and provide treatments that work ... even though we were only able to describe what we see thru simple words that I would not consider to be very descriptive. I came here after a recommendation from a coworker. I never have to wait to be connected when calling in and it's not difficult for me to get an appointment within 2wks. If urgent, they will do everything they can to move you up, even give you a ring if there is a cancellation. Everyone is super friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. I have a lab who was suffering from sores on his paws which we found was due to allergies. Cathy was great in looking him over and recommending multiple treatment options. After a few tries, we hit gold and all of his issues (infected paws, infected ears, losing fur, overall itchiness) were resolved. Pricing is very fair. We recently took our cat to this location, thinking it was a uti, but they identified another issue; they explained everything they were testing and identifying along the way. We feel another place would've just brushed us off because it was so close to closing time, but they went ahead and continued helping us so we weren't forced to go to a pet Er due to being out of options. Money is always a factor, so if we were forced to either go thousands of dollars in debt or simply be helped by our local vet, our cat more than likely would have been put down because we couldn't afford the medical expense. Found Our Pet's Vet and Dr. Brenes in a desperate attempt to find a doctor to see our very ill dog. We called a place our friends recommended Monday morning and were told she couldn't be seen until Saturday, even after describing her symptoms. I called Our Pet's Vet and they were able to get her in quickly given what was going on with her. Dr. Brenes came out to car to see her and everything. Once she determined she was not contagious we brought her into the office and continued the visit in a room. Dr. Brenes was very thorough and explained what needed to be done and why. She even has us come back to see some findings on an ultrasound. Unfortunately our dog got worse throughout the day so I had to bring her back. She was given two injections of antibiotics and instructions on what to check for in case she needed to go to the hospital. The next morning they called to check on our dog which was nice. Tuesday night Vala got increasingly worse and we ended up at the ER. Dr. Brenes' original tests were able to pinpoint the problem but the culture took a while to get back which is normal. Her follow up was great. She made us feel as though she really cared about our dog. We now have answers and a game plan moving forward and Vala is doing much much better. I brought my Alaskan Klee Kai in for her spay procedure during COVID. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and was able to fit her in during a packed schedule. Dr. Nguyen was patient with all my questions and even pet sat her for me when I was late to pick her up. I showed up with my pup on her lap... when my pup was the shyest dog on earth. I later had some flea related questions and she answered my call when she had just given birth and promptly prescribed medication for my Klee Kai. I'm so grateful that I found her!! I brought my 16 year old cat into OPV on 12/20 for a cough. Dr Holden gave an exam (free since first visit), felt he needed senior blood work ($209.07) which came back normal, and also a 2 view X-ray ($252.26) She gave an antibiotic (Convenia -$84) to take away the cough (Cost $545) Fast forward to Friday 3/6, My cat jumped off the couch and started going into distress breathing really hard, and he was weak in his back legs and pooped. I brought him in immediately, told Dr Holden it seemed like a stroke/seizure, she did an exam ($72), blood pressure test ($59.56), everything was normal, and she gave him a rabies shot ($28) (Cost this visit$160) She didn't even check that he was already up to date on his rabies from a previous vet less than 2 years prior, which he was since it was a 3 year shot AND you shouldn't vaccinate when an animal is ill. We went home, my cat would not eat, drink, and was lethargic. Called OPV Saturday 3/7, they were closing at 12:00. Told me I'd have to take him to emergency if he wasn't eating or drinking within 24 hours from the visit to them. So I had to take him into Animal Urgent care where it's much more expensive. He had to get another exam since they hadn't seen him before, injection of sub fluids to hydrate him and an antihistamine Injection because of the Rabies shot given to him the previous day. They wanted to do X-Rays, more blood work, I told them I would wait until Monday to get into OPV to get that done since emergency charges A LOT more. (Cost this visit $300) Monday 3/9- 2 days later from the emergency visit, brought my cat back into OPV, Pre-op, electrolytes and urinalysis ($138.00) and they gave him some Mirtazapine ($30.77) to see if he would eat, it didn't do anything to him. (Cost this visit $169). Cat was not changing his behavior. Tuesday 3/10 brought him back to OPV- Did 2-view X-ray ($264.88-upped their price from December) more Sub Fluids ($61.81), Lactulose (since he was constipated from what showed in the X-Rays) ($27.62) and a can of RC recovery food to see if he would eat it ($2.54). (Cost this visit $357) For the next week I saw slight improvement with giving the . Then he showed same signs (not eating, lethargic etc) Friday 3/27 into OPV for another Examination ($72), Sub fluids ($61.81), recommended an Enema ($84.28), and an IDEXX Snap FELV/FIV Test ($49.58) (Cost $268) At this visit I saw Dr Brenes, She recommended getting an ultrasound since he was not improving and all the tests came back normal. I scheduled an ultrasound at OPV for Tuesday 3/31 since that was the only day she said the ultrasound tech would be there. She mentioned if he doesn't improve to take him to get an ultrasound at the emergency vet she recommended and not wait until Tuesday. Next Day Saturday 3/28 he still had not eaten, took him back into OPV and Dr Brenes gave him some Midazolam ($70) to see if he would eat, didn't do anything but completely freak my cat out. He was wired. (Cost this visit $70) I took him to the vet that night that Dr Brenes recommended. Had the ultrasound done, physical exam, gave more sub fluids, and Entyce (An appetite stimulant). The vet told me they found slight things from the ultrasound and recommended another full blood work and told me to talk to my vet (Dr Brenes) about the Ultrasound since he was very hard to understand over the phone due to his accent. (Cost $831). That was Saturday night 3/28. NOW, here's why I'm writing this review. Monday, 3/30 called OPV- receptionist told me Vet would call me back, No Call Back. Tuesday (3/31) called- told me again vet would call me back. I explained I wanted to discuss the results for the ultrasound, get his blood work done again and pick up Sub fluids so I could do it myself. No Call Back. Called Wednesday 4/1, they were closed, someone text back saying I could pick up fluids next day. Thursday 4/2 went first thing in morning, they had me wait outside due to COVID, when receptionist called me she told me the VET WANTED TO CHARGE ME TO DISCUSS OVER THE PHONE THE RESULTS OF THE ULTRASOUND- I told her I thought it was RIDICULOUS after how much I just spent with them in a matter of weeks ($1614) they couldn't even give me the time of day to discuss results from a test THE VET recommended. She didn't even ask about the blood work I wanted done 4 days ago when I called that Monday. At that point, I knew I would never go back here. All this office cares about is money, not building a client relationship, nor giving a care about your animal being they didn't even call me back knowing his condition. The receptionist brought out the Sub Fluids (WHICH WAS $45 FOR 1000ML) I paid them $61.81 every time they gave 150ML given from them. HUGE Price markup when you can do it yourself. I told her I would be seeing a different vet going forward. I would not recommend this place, I went to Mission Hills Pet Center and they were fabulous and BETTER PRICED. Exam alone is $22 cheaper than OPV. read more

It started with the quickest shot clinic I'd ever taken Monty to. I was back in just yesterday because they were able to accommodate a last minute visit to get a blood test and Rx filled for allergy meds. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I went in for an initial exam for my new puppy. The veterinarian, Dr. Brenes, and her assistant assured me that they don't recommend procedures or medications unless it was necessary. I decided to take their word for it and trust them. That very same visit they prescribed my puppy a spray for a skin infection for $24.75. Fair enough price. Then, my puppy apparently had 2 baby hernias which would cost $100 each to remove. Yes, another $200 to add. After a fecal exam, Dr. Brenes had informed me of two parasites they found which would cost $52.30 for both medications. These are not included in their "Premium" puppy plan. Within a week, this place has managed to rack up a total bill for almost $1,000. I went to VCA Arroyo Animal Hospital to get a second opinion from Dr. Lassin. There was no mention of medication for a skin infection because the spots that were found would go away on its own, no mention of a baby hernia and a fecal exam that only showed exposure to a parasite that was not active. The Dr. Lassin wanted me to double check with the breeder for deworming history before moving forward because he didn't want to load my puppy up with chemicals if he didn't have to. I called the breeder and she told me that he already has gotten shots and that he shouldn't need anymore until he's 6 months. DO NOT TRUST Our Pet's Vet! They don't care about your pet's well-being. The vet was very pushy and talked down to me as if I was too stupid to understand her explainations. After blood and fecal test, my dog was diagnosed with parasites. She prescribed flagyl which she says calms his stomach and his parasites will go away eventually, although, she gave him a general dewormer which does not treat his specific parasite, but I suppose a good guess on her part. After l left the office,i was not convinced of what she was telling me, so I made an appointment with another vets office the next day. They ended up giving him meds that treat his type of parasite and now he is doing fine. I will not go to this vet again read more

Dr. Kaytee Brenes and her staff are very knowledgeable. I came in with a coupon for a free exam for being a first time customer, and they reeled me in! We will definitely be coming back. Our Dachsund terrier needed an annual checkup, and they addressed all our questions and concerns. Dr. Brenes gave a thorough exam; she took note of the smallest details, and didn't take anything too lightly. It really gives me peace of mind that she paid attention to detail. Another great plus: She was also very up-to-date about health concerns dog-owners should have in the area of Lake Forest. For example, heart worm affecting animals in LF are extremely rare and occur mostly in areas where there is a mosquito infestation. While this may be true, she did stress the importance of heart worm prevention b/c of how easy it is to prevent. This type of relevant knowledge is highly appreciated. What I don't appreciate is how other veterinarians try to sell me overly priced, exotic dog food. (directed towards my previous vet) Not only did they give us a discount for a free exam, but they also discounted his heart worm exam b/c we opted to buy a 1 year supply of Revolution ( a combined preventative medicine for fleas, ticks and heart worm ) Again, the staff is knowledgeable and caring. They have a clean, and organized office that is located right next to Water World and what used to be Ralphs. While they are new to the community, they are not new to pet care. I chose this vet over the others in the area because they were the closest to me, had an appointment available the soonest, and also offered $30 off a first visit. I love that the Dr gave me alot of useful information about dogs and dog parks in the area since Im new to Lake Forest. She also taught me exactly how to check to see if my dog was dehydrated, which he was. I already thought he was, but now I know how to check myself. So I thought she was very friendly and informative. Then they gave me a list of services. Any of which I could choose to accept or decline. I went with the lower estimate which included a couple shots for my dog and a stool sample. So while they took my dog back, I went to wait up front. I hear my dog yelp several times. Which may have happened at other vets, but Ive never heard it before, so I was a little startled by that. My dog also received subcutaneous fluid, which he has received before, but this time, he kept trying to scratch it. Hes never done that before. Then I get home, and Im petting him to sooth him and notice that I have blood on my hand. So I immediately call the vet back to see what this could be. They said it was from the shots. But my dog and received these type of shots before and has NEVER bled before. They told me to put pressure on it and if it didnt stop in a few minutes to call them back. It did stop, but I was still just not ok with my dog bleeding. Overall my visit has some pros and cons. And since there are so many other vets in the area, I will probably try out another one before coming back to this one. read more
