Could've been them back then but I'm not positive. We used to have Dr Jette who recently left. She was there a couple years I think. She went through one of my cats getting diagnosed with diabetes, pancreatitis and DKA. She was very caring and invested in his well-being. We have also seen Dr Vuong and I believe Dr Kim. Both were great. I'm sure I'm probably forgetting a vet's name, I'm just terrible at remembering them unless I interact with that person frequently. The most recent vet we saw today was Dr Cheron. My two cats have been sneezing, so I wanted to make sure their URI didn't develop into pneumonia. At first she asked if I wanted to treat symptomatic issues or if I wanted to figure out diagnostically what is happening. In other words, do tests to see if this was viral, bacterial, etc. I said I wanted to treat symptoms first, as my one cat having had multiple admissions to the hospital last year, was extremely expensive and I needed to avoid a costly bill as much as possible. She was very nice about it and understanding of my financial wishes. I felt like she truly listened to me and my concerns. She made sure to check with me that everything I wanted to go over was reviewed and discussed. She was very thorough in her examination and explanations. Why do I like this office? Front and back office staff are professional. I've never heard them be otherwise. The vets all truly care for your animal. They listen to you and don't make you feel like your thoughts and opinions don't matter. You are shown an estimate of your exam and suggested tests or treatments, but you are free to choose what you approve and will pay for. They have never pressured me to go with what I could not afford. For that, I am grateful to have a vet office that works with my pet just as much as they work with me.

The office took their time to review my cat's records at his previous vet before today's visit. They took note that Miko hates going to the vet and was aggressive the last time I took him in. Knowing this, they really took the time to make sure he felt okay enough to be examined and get his blood drawn. They even let me stay in the room with him since they saw that he's calmer with me being there. I really appreciated this because I've never been allowed to stay with my cats during a blood drawing procedure or any procedure at that. My Miko is very strong and tried to fight the blood draw process but they were able to get it done successfully after multiple attempts. It was important to me to get his blood drawn because he's already 9 years old and I wanted to make sure everything was okay. The Dr was able to diagnose the skin issues as behavioral and will contact me soon with prescription/treatment recommendations as soon as the lab results come back! I really want to thank the Dr and staff for making us feel seen and heard. Empathy and compassion go a long way and we truly felt it today. That is actually what the vet at Serrano said to me, but I was distraught reading the material provided that her condition (Grade 3) "required" surgery. I've been trimming my cats claws for them at home this entire time without much trouble from either cat. Somehow they managed to traumatize one of my cats! Ever since their stay, my cat has been terrified of me trimming his claws and touching his paws. Additionally, they did a general check-up of my cats during the stay. The vet that did their exams tried to push me to sedate my more timid cat for future visits, saying he "curls up and stiffens to resist their handling." Not lashing out or attacking them, they were upset they had to deal with a cat that timidly cowers. The vet spoke to me as if he should behave more like a dog. This place does not understand cats and does not treat them well. The one positive experience I had here was the ladies at the front desk were polite and informative, but I do not trust the vets here with any cats.

I'd like to leave ZERO stars. Contacted them for boarding on Monday 9/28/26 needing dates 10/6/26…read moreto 10/12/26. VCA Arroyo was suggested by MY VCA animal hospital. Everything was scheduled and paperwork was filled out and sent in on Tuesday 9/29/26. Appointments were needed BEFORE their stay so they were scheduled for 10/5/26. Spoke to Jasmine regarding the vaccines and it was verified *TWICE* BY THEIR OFFICE that we could receive the missing vaccines for both dogs at the Monday 10/5 appointment. (They require all vaccines not just the core vaccines like every other boarding/animal hospital. Not a problem. Per Jasmine, receiving these vaccines on Monday would be fine for a Tuesday 10/6 drop off for boarding). All paperwork was sent with no issues stated. ON FRIDAY 10/2/26 AT 4PM, I received a message from VCA Arroyo stating that my dogs could NOT be boarded there, that they suddenly decided there needed to be a 7-day waiting period between vaccines and boarding. I asked why I was not informed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or even Friday morning as I had canceled the appointment with MY VCA vet because VCA Arroyo was demanding a pre-boarding visit. Sara & Jasmine clearly stated to me AND my husband that we could receive the vaccines on Monday's visit. The woman I spoke to on Friday late afternoon was dismissive, rude, offered zero explanation as to the sudden cancellation of the boarding reservation DESPITE what we were told by THEIR STAFF. There was exactly ZERO understanding or care regarding the difficult situation they put us in by failing to be upfront and honest when the boarding stay was scheduled and paperwork received. I understand different facilities have different rules. Had they simply stated the issue early in the week, I could have kept my Friday vaccine appointment and arranged boarding at a different location. It did NOT have to be there, I simply chose them due to the recommendation of my VCA animal hospital. If the front desk is ignorant to their boarding rules, policies and procedures, they should NOT be answering the phone and scheduling appointments/boarding stays. To top off this incredibly unprofessional experience, the flippant response with no explanation, followed by a rude dismissive phone call, is enough for me to warn ANYONE planning to go to VCA Arroyo. After speaking to my VCA front AND back office, they are aghast at the fact that VCA ARROYO waited until late-afternoon on Friday to cancel the boarding ESPECIALLY after their front office staff (Sara and Jasmine) confirmed everything was "good to go". They could have communicated their "policy" at any point Monday-Thursday as they'd received 2 phone calls, the records from my vet AND my intake paperwork. These are NOT honest people. They do NOT care that they verified everything was good-to-go. They do NOT care that they waited all week to cancel the reservation. They were RUDE and DISMISSIVE when communicating what they told us was false. BEWARE OF THEIR UNKNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF, UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDES, CHANGING POLICIES, AND EXORBITANT PRICES. I was able to get an appointment on the morning of the third day, she weighed only 5.4lbs, down from her usual 6+. The vet tech and Dr. Wang were wonderful with her and very patient with all my questions and explanations (as was the staff member on the phone the late afternoon before when I made the appointment). She was given a 10-15 minute hydration infusion as well as injections for nausea and reflux (because of all the vomiting). I also authorized a blood panel. She still didn't eat that day, but the next day woke up with a roaring (yapping?) appetite and all her spunk back. Dr. Wang called me to see how she was doing and to send me the results of the blood panel which he explained was good. He suspects it was pancreatitis and because this is the first time she experienced it at her age, he thinks it will not be chronic. Many thanks to Dr. Wang, a very patient and thorough vet, and the vet tech and staff, for getting us through this.
