At 14 months old, she has already begun to recognize and repeat words and phrases in each language. In addition, Carousel's classes have helped her become more focused, attentive, patient, and social. The exercises have improved her fine motor skills, and the curriculum has enhanced her love for music. The teachers at Carousel are as kind and gentle as they are energetic and capable. They are experts not only in their spoken language, but also in how to educate from infancy. The staff are all super responsive and helpful. The owner, Patrizia, treats every child like family. She knows every child's name and is often there to greet us at the front door. My daughter, who normally clings to my side, runs into her arms. She is extremely kind, patient, involved, wonderful with children, and has created an incredible place for them to thrive. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, even for a household that isn't bilingual. It's been incredible for early childhood development.

Screaming at the kids for not understanding something is not acceptable. Yelling at the kids for not being capable of tracing or drawing something perfectly is not acceptable, especially when their hand muscles are still developing. Berating a kid when he/she froze while answering a question is unacceptable and just shows what type of hostile environment is fostered at this school when kids even freeze. Yelling and putting down children because they're taking time while completing a task that is time consuming is not only unacceptable, but abusive. Yelling at a little child because he/she was distracted in a class that is not engaging where all they do is fill out worksheets, listen to muffled videos, and answer more worksheets is not acceptable. Yelling at a child that is still learning how to write their name because it's taking him/her too long is appalling. As a parent, you want your child to be in a safe environment; an environment that is welcoming, nurturing, and that fosters respect. This was not the case I encountered while my child received remote instruction at St. Raymond's. What is more appalling and worrisome is that this happened in front of other parents and caregivers. What happens inside the school when parents are not there? This type of behavior from the teacher and teacher assistant also happens in other classrooms. I have heard another teacher from a nearby classroom yelling at her little kids as well. There is absolutely NO reason why an "educator" needs to yell, berate, or scream at any student, let alone little ones constantly. This was an everyday occurrence. The teacher and teacher assistant always seemed peeved and annoyed. They didn't seem to enjoy their work at all. Imagine being a small child spending 7-8 hours of your day in a hostile environment where you do not know if you are going to get yelled at for some arbitrary reason. In the midst of this terrible pandemic, I was somewhat thankful that my child was receiving remote instruction so that I, as well as other people in my family and my child's caretaker, could see what goes on at this school. Unfortunately, the best the school administration can do is just change your child to another classroom. This is very telling. Teachers face no repercussions and clearly the administration does not care. Also, the teacher in my child's classroom did not provide differentiation of instruction or offered other ways to explain the material. If the children did not get it, she would become exasperated and berated them. This is not teaching. It does not matter how many years these teachers have been working as educators, if you can't foster a respectful, welcoming environment; if you can't differentiate instruction; if you can't explain new material in different ways so that everyone understands; if you are not capable of providing an engaging class, especially for little ones; if you "wing things" as the teacher has said herself during instruction; if all you do is fill out worksheet after worksheet, play videos that do the teaching for you; if you can't behave professionally with parents; if you can't regulate yourself as an adult in a classroom with little ones, then you are NOT a teacher and should not be in a classroom dealing with little ones. You are merely an actor regurgitating material and doing the bare minimum. In other words, you are a body collecting a check. As an educator, this type of teacher is an embarrassment to the profession. Fortunately for the school and the teacher, we can't record them. Thus, they have full control while rendering the parents and the children powerless since teachers like this do not face any consequences. I am thankful I was able to find another school for my child.

I experienced several acts of racism, in front of faculty and behind closed doors, and each case practically fell on deaf ears. The same perpetrators will still be rewarded in the end, if they are favored by faculty. The faculty also has a hand in the racism as well, whether they openly support it, reward the aggressors in the end, or commit their own acts of micro or macro aggressions. I say all this to say, save your time, and save your money. The education is also subpar at best. Even if you are not a poc student, if you don't feel like wasting your money, don't send your child here. The most they'll learn is the lyrics to sweet Caroline . I had no issues with this school, I actually trusted the school, I really loved the school at one point. Which is why the next events came as a shock to me. So the first issue was a child who was troubled that constantly put my smaller son in harms way. The first was a tapping on the shoulder. My son understands his classmate was troubled so he decided on his own to let it go. I did address it to the school they took care of it. Next the same child tried to stab my son in the eye with a pencil caught him next to his temple. At this point they should be separated. No separation took place. Months later I'm under the impression there's no more incidents. Before I continue my kids tell me about school everyday, like every other parent. Somehow he didn't tell me about it until I heard something about a glass in a story that was brought up again. So again I'm asking him for the details. Turns out my son was being chased with a glass in the school yard during recess. I go into the school and speak to the principal. when I saw the incident report it was February. This incident took place in November. The principal had the nerve to say she had the counselor see him. Who was she to decide what is the best for my child. My 7 year old son told me he was scared. She should've contacted me. Anyway she was very apologetic and while I appreciate the apology her actions told me that her Job, the reputation of the school, and her reputation were more important than my sons mental health, emotional health and physical safety. She had time to take corrective measures. Her decision told me, She was not sorry for my son and what she put us through. She was sorry that she was caught. I should've been able to support my child through this. Literally over a month later. My older son is experiencing the same situation with another child. I wanted to meet with the principal and the mother. I made the school aware of the bullying with the other child. Emotional abuse and mental abuse, then the child gave him a cookie which ended up being Dog food. Humiliated him in front of everyone. The teacher in the classroom yelled at him Versus help him. So now I wanted to speak to the parent. She said the other parent is not logical and will not come down to a logical conclusion. So enough is enough and I waited to speak to the parent. I waited outside to talk and I came into to contact with the parent and she was not aware of anything. Let's not even get into the gaslighting. one of the teachers were addressed for playing the 67 wrap song. My son said he couldn't listen and he would like to leave the room. My son brought it to the teachers attention and didn't allow him to step outside. I don't want them to listen to music that I don't expose them to. Regardless of the trend the song is inappropriate to play in school. Moving forward this the teacher was addressed but then days later she came back to my 10 year old repeating that he wasn't in the room. Attempting to make him question reality to her convenience. I teach my kids about all the mental abuse that can take place from an adult. He was aware and was able to identify. The principal there does not follow safety protocol. This makes it unsafe. I do not trust my kids in this school and I will not be sending my children back to this school moving forward.
