Stantonbury School it is a total different school from what I have been told or read. It is very easy to spot all the improvements from outside . Moreover they take very seriously and work hard to tackle Bullyind and Implement a positive and good environment for learning so all the Students feel safe! I have never been a fan of uniforms so this was a good thing. The school is over subscribed and many are trying to get into this school. You can attend if you are in catchment or you can apply as an arts student, go for an interview and you may get lucky! We live within catchment but I would have chosen this school as a preference anyway. My kids did really well here all three attending 6th form and going on to further education. I like the teaching style where young people are encouraged to be themselves and take an active part in their learning process. There is also a large music centre on site where kids take their musical instrument lessons. Music plays a large part of the campus life. There is also a resident rock school which runs weekly sessions and also a 'three days of rock' event during holidays. The campus is made up of the school, leisure centre and shops. Many people have commented on how good they are. For those who believe in SAT results their Maths, Science and English are all around 95% pass mark. The 3 tier system I think works really well and both of my children have benefited from being in it. At the age of 9 they both had the benefits of high school without the size.

However the new head Jo Ward totally turned the school around. By the time my daughter started there they were on the up. Going into school now is a delight. They have a great ethos and a good learning environment. The atmosphere is always positive and I think the up-turn in results reflect that. They have become well-known in the last 5 years for the fantastic Steel band which spends a lot of time out and about in the community playing gigs for organisations and other schools. This last year they put on their first school production for 16 years which was their own interpretation of Grease and was fabulous. They have a great performing arts department which means the next few years could be very exciting They are hoping to change status to a foundation school in the next couple of years too which will send them from strength to strength. I went here for my last school year (11),a few years ago and I liked this school. I made a few very good mates here. The teachers were kind,helpfull and very understanding. This school used to have carboot sales every few weeks but have sadly stopped them now,after about 20 years. I found most kids here were vert friendly and always helped each other.
