Still waiting for proper follow-up after more than a month. At 8 AM on August 29, I went to Otto's BMW to have the carpet lights replaced on my 2023 BMW X5, which I purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) earlier this summer. During the service, the mechanic noticed that one of the lug bolts wasn't turning freely. The service team offered to re-tap the threads, but that was unsuccessful, and they ended up needing to replace the entire hub bearing. I spent the entire day at the dealership, but to their credit, they worked hard to get everything fixed so I could have my vehicle for the weekend. Unfortunately, things took a turn after that. Once the work was done, I witnessed the mechanic floor my car on a cold engine right in front of the dealership. Reckless driving in my own vehicle. I later learned that the mechanic was on probation. My service advisor assured me at 5 PM on that Friday that he would "take care of me" the following Monday regarding this incident. It's now October 15, and I have yet to receive a meaningful follow-up or resolution. I was offered a free detailing, but my car had already been professionally detailed. (And I even received compliments from the staff telling me how nice the vehicle was) Driving this BMW X5 has been a dream come true, but the way this situation was handled has left a sour taste. It's hard to trust the dealership with my car after witnessing such carelessness. Mistakes happen. It's how they're handled afterward that shows true professionalism. I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents who I recently supported to purchase a new X1 BMW from Otto's BMW. Sadly, due to health concerns, my parents are currently amid an extremely difficult period in their lives; however, a bright spot in their journey has been their experience working with their sales rep, Eric Bergstrom. Despite some unexpected (and we've since learned extremely rare) hiccups, Eric was nothing short of exceptional from beginning to end. Unfortunately, soon after taking possession of their new BMW, my parents encountered an issue with their new car. Fortunately, Eric's efforts ensured that the matter was efficiently and fully resolved within a matter of days. Throughout our interactions, he remained patient, compassionate, and understanding. He ensured that what might have been a stressful and difficult event, proved to be no more than a minor inconvenience. Brought in a 2019 X5 for diagnostic as the SUV was overheating and died on highway. Diagnostic revealed a $13k suggested service repair, however more than half of the suggested repairs have already been completed and therefore decided to on $3700 worth of repairs and there was no mention of any requiring a new engine at 248km on the X5. The repairs were done over 3 weeks including 3 recalls and when it was picked up after paying the engine light wa still on and Ottos has reassured us that it was a glitch on the engine light and could come back another time to rectify and that it was safe to drive it. Drove it 90km camping and during that 90km drive suv didn't drive well, was in tough condition made loud noises like something was lose in ref to a belt and once we parked car and attempted to re start it it didn't start and had to get it towed to Ottos again for servicing. Upon assessment their technicians indicated that they found pieces of metal once the seafood valve was replaced which was not noticed on the initial diagnostic and then went on to say that the suv no longer works and engine was done and required a engine proced at $36k. Management and the technicians have been completely dishonest and deceptive with horrible customer service. When we discussed our dissatisfaction with management in reference to paying for a service that could have been avoided based on the initial diagnostic but instead they went on by taking our money for the repairs they also did the 3 recalls and only once they cashed in they now deemed that the car requires a $36k engine. Completely unacceptable customer service over the entire month on August while the car was there for repairs. There is no coincidence that after they completed the repairs on the car it was in worse condition then when we brought it in. This dishonesty and deception goes against their reputation. In the past we had brought in a 335xi to repair electrical for window opener and once it was repaired other things had been impacted and not functioning as well as before the repair. Horrible service, please bring your cars elsewhere to get it repaired as I don't trust the service provided there, this is all from first hand experience with them. They do not value their customers nor care the repairs that are done on the cars. Would not recommend bringing ypur car there for any servicing or any repairs. read more

I had to deal with the management over there as my X3 xDrive30e 2022 was deemed total loss by a certified appraiser after leaving it under the care of Otto's collision centre, Otto's BMW affiliated garage. I brought my vehicle to Otto's collision centre mid-September 2022 for a simple insurance claim due to a shattered panoramic roof. After a couple of weeks, my vehicle was still at the garage and not repaired so I showed up unannounced to Otto's collision centre to find out my vehicle parked outside, unprotected and with puddles of water in it and, dripping water from the trunk. As this was not my fault, I left message to directors and even tried to get in contact with the owner of Otto's BMW Ottawa but no one returned my calls. I decided to send them a 30 days formal notice to try to get their full attention and which I got. During that whole period of time, my wife and I went through a lot of stress while one of the manager was "supposedly" be "looking" at options. The final week of the 30 days, the manager left me with all the troubles to deal with and we never heard again from him. I have always been a gentleman with anyone I dealt with and I was considering buying another BMW as I understand people can make mistake but his attitude was disrespectful and unprofessional. Because of this experience, I will never buy another BMW. It was my first and my last but there's always a positive side to a story, while shopping for me, my wife found her dream car from a direct competitor to BMW and I have a very nice one coming in for me in the following months. BRUTAL! I have been trying to payout my BMW X7 for TWO MONTHS! I leased this vehicle in December 2020 and the dealership has been playing games. They first held the payout cheque. After that they sent the cheque back to the other dealership where I traded the vehicle in. Meanwhile payments keep coming out of my account. NOW! Deceptive, dishonest, greedy with horrible customer service. I bought a VW Atlas from Tyler Tobin. The vehicle was originally listed as an R on AutoTrader. It was not. They waited until I drove all the way from Ontario to disclose a major engine issue and damage to the passenger door. Tyler said replacing the head gasket was covered under warranty and not to worry about it. What they did NOT disclose was that the truck also had a cracked transmission housing and when I took the truck in for the head gasket it also required a new transmission! When I voiced my concerns he very bluntly told me no refunds and then stopped replying to my communication. No compensation was offered at all. It is dishonest to not honor a return on a vehicle that was not inspected or repaired to the standards that are advertised. Buyer beware. read more

Please disregard the other review about battery draining- the owner does not know that modern cars, with numerous electronic features, are massive drain for a battery. With batteries located in the trunk, driving 3-10 kms will NEVER charge them. Indeed I experienced the same issue but, after learning my lesson, I used the trickle charger monthly and survived in northern quebec with -40 to -50 for weeks, no drain. Meanwhile, my neighbour's Nissan SUV was never starting, and friend's Lexus was constantly in the shop for draining every 3 winter days. Compared to that the BMW double Li Ion Bosh battery is amazing but it requires trickle charging is not driving more than 20 min even once a week. Folks forget we have Nav, GPS, more electronics than a computer, and phone plugged etc, the power consumption on modern cars is multifold a 2006 civic! Otto's is very good- it has a good reputation, their work is guaranteed 2 years. Last, but not least, these German ULSAB-AC do not rust with minimal washing, decades long frame longevity, whereas Lexus gets rust winter 2... Interior design of Ottos is pleasant. Wifi Free coffee. Good mechanical service, and an all around perfectionist approach. They make their money repairing or getting the service right the first time.. Plus they have diplomatic sales, so if 10 percent reduction is not enough, nothing will ever suffice.. read more

I can't believe that not a single person has reported the growing issues with Otto's service department. I've been a customer since 2010 and the delays for service keep growing every time I'm in. Currently, someone looking for something as simple as getting their winter tires on is looking at 2.5 weeks for the first available appointment. AYFKM??? I can't believe there's only been a single yelp review and how glowingly positive it was. No, I really can't believe it as in I don't believe it. It has all the hallmarks of a self-submitted review and I think it should be yanked immediately. They provided a comfortable waiting area and had a friendly, courteous and respectful staff. They called with an update when they said they would and had all the information I needed. September 2022. Booked an appointment for an alignment on my BMW X5. Arrived they brought the car into the shop, two hours later the service advisor Marco called, (I was waiting in the shop) said he needed to talk with me. I met with him, he says my car needs $2000 in repairs as the technician snapped a inner tie rod in half. It just broke he said. I'm a 25 year retired mechanic, so I asked to see my car. It was very clear their technician used an incorrect wrench and excessive force on the inner tie rod to snap the 19mm thick rod in half. There are places that accommodate proper wrenches so force is not place on the outer and inner tie rod joints; these were not used. Marco gave me a $2000 estimate my keys, pushed my car into their parking lot. To bad so sad for me. WTF kind so service is that. He said he lots to do as they are closing in an hour. (Friday of a long weekend too) He I am, not from Ottawa stuck in their parking lot with a car I drove in and they broke. Stay away from Otto's service department!!! Thieves read more

Purchased a 2015 BMW 335i. Sales was friendly and helpful. Did not experience any problems until we hit our first cold spell in Ottawa. Car reported that battery was discharged, and some features (including the lock sensor) were disabled, Looks like it will fail completely unless I trickle charge the battery every night. Not sure if I can travel with this in winter, as most places do not have external plugs available. Dealership had told me that the car would need trickle charging if I was not going to use it for a week or more - but I have used this car every day, and this does not make a difference. Service told me there was no solution - the internal computers etc use too much power even when the vehicle is off, and I must use the charger or it will fail. They also suggested that this was due to my limited amount of driving - from 12,000 to 15,000 km per year - not providing enough 'charging' time. I would not recommend purchasing any BMW vehicle until this problem is resolved. read more

Have a BMW that is not even 1 year old and had to replace brand new run flat tires at a cost of $2800 ! When I complained they did not even care. Who purchases a new care with new tires and has to replace them after a year ! Moving over to Lexus who not only provides a FREE loaner car when you bring yours into service but also bends over backwards to help you out !! Remarkably great experience, dealing with Otto's. All the extra touches, including politeness and respect, which is far, far beyond what might be acceptable. As have many others, I, too, dealt with Elite, at Ogilvy and St Laurent. The sales fellow I dealt with soon left; what remained was horrible. I did learn all the dealerships at Ogilvy and St Laurent are owned by the same family; what a crass bunch. At Otto's, I feel special. When I pick up a new car, the sales person focuses on me, exclusively; never distracted. The service at Otto's, although too busy, puts the customer on a pedestal. I would say Elite puts customers under a pedestal. I would never, again, lease or purchase a car from any dealership other than Otto's. Even if Otto's charged more, which it doesn't, I would gladly pay the extra for the service style. read more
