We started our meal with two appetizers. The first was pan-fried shrimp served with green tomatoes. The shrimp were tasty and well cooked, and the green tomatoes added a fresh and slightly sour flavor. We also had a potato salad with octopus. The octopus was tender and the dish was refreshing, making it a nice starter. For the main course, I ordered grilled seabass. The fish was cooked well and had a clean, delicate taste. It was enjoyable and nicely presented. However, I felt that the quality of the food, while good, could have been a little higher considering the price of the dishes. The service was fairly good but not excellent. Th food arrived in a reasonable time. However, the service did not feel especially attentive or memorable. Overall, the restaurant offers good food and a pleasant dining experience. The starters and the grilled seabass were enjoyable, but for this price point I expected slightly better quality and service. Best seafood in Milan....No! Best seafood in the world…read more This restaurant is for foodies no doubt. This hidden gem is off the beaten path and probably for the locals too. Reservations are highly recommend and just walking in is not going to work. Every reserved table had a card with someone's name on it. However, since we were ignorant to the reservation requirements we begged and pleased and eventually the NYC charm worked. The owner Cristian embodies the term hospitable by seating us, engaging us in conversations and then leading our dinner like the conductor of an orchestra. He asked if we had any restrictions and the answer of NO seemed to be the exact guidance he needed. This Sardinian family owned business doesn't disappoint. Trattoria Del Pescatore serves up the most tantalizing plates of foods filled with the freshest ingredients and the most delicate tasting seafood I have ever eaten anywhere. This chef certainly has a magic touch and is adept at the use of seasoning and flavors. A trio of fish crudos along with raw langostines and raw shrimp was followed by a classic Octupus salad. Next came a broiled scallop encrusted in ground pistachio. Mussels in white wine was next as the parade of plates continued. Just as I thought if could not get any better came a plate of freshly made risotto with mixed seafood. I want to emphasize fresh because many restaurants tend not to make risotto fresh because it can taker upwards of 40 minutes. This risotto was pure perfection cooked Al dente and tasting like the sea. Everything served up to this point tasted like it had just come out of the ocean. Our final course was a lobster salad creation which is credited to restaurants in Sardinia however is modified by the local chefs addition of tomatoes and red onions. Legend has it that this variant has become so popular over the years that restaurants back in Sardinia have change their original recipes to match. I believe it. No matter what you order don't leave without ordering this dish. Our host was most generous as I believe this is his way of treating people who appreciate good food. The service all evening was a match to the food with waiters buzzing around and being attentive to every need. From clearing dishes, to serving food and refilling wine and water everything was done with a smile. I hope that this review acts as a signpost for this restaurant. "When in Milan eat at here now!"

Fried Vegetable (appetizer) - usually I don't love thick breading but it looks thick here while the breading was airy and light. Very interesting and delicious! Porcini Tagliatelle (entree) - light in flavor but the true Italian food in my opinion. Here I was, at Turin's Porta Susa intermodal station and, after entering the Metro area, a guy was having issues with his ticket and was asking me how it all worked. He assumed I was a local. I suppose that was flattering in that I wasn't mistaken for an "ugly American." When he ended up downstairs on the platform, he told me he was from Milan so I asked him for the name of some "real deal" Milanese restaurants that are popular with the locals. Amici Miei was at the top of his list. Amici Miei is not that easy to get to. It's not near the main station or the Duomo. However, the Metro and a short tram ride will get you there. Let me go to the food and then address prices, service, and more. I didn't know what I would eat, so the table next to me "decided" for me. The tables are close to each other and the two young ladies at the adjacent table, one Italian and the other American, had ordered the same dish. I told the server that that's what I'd order. It was a very large Milanese cutlet, which they term "orecchio di elefante" (elephant's ear). That's because the bone is attached at its outer end and gives it that look. The fact that there is a bone can be ignored because the cutlet is generous. It was excellent, not to mention filling, and was garnished with potatoes. For the beverage, I ordered a bottle of mineral water and, to make it last through the meal, I ordered it "gassata." I had called Amici Miei to make a reservation. The person who answered was humorous and accommodating. When I went in, he told me that he had spoken with me on the phone. (Aren't phones great ... for what they were initially intended to do?) The server, the person who bussed the tables, and the cashier at the bar were informally friendly, which works for me. The place is in an older building, is not that roomy, and it must be popular because it was hopping on a weeknight. The fact that the Bocconi (Italy's equivalent of Harvard Business School, but with a higher admission rate) is a few blocks down the street probably sends customers their way. The price was a Milanese price, hence an urban Northern Italian price, and fair for the bountiful cutlet. The name Amici Miei is sort of funky. If you said "miei amici," that would mean you're talking about your friends in casual conversation. Inverted, "amici miei" sounds more declarative in an endearing or formal way, as if standing in front of a room with a gavel or about to make a toast, and then continue with what you wish to announce. This helped me remember the name of this restaurant that the Milanese visitor at a Turin Metro station told me about.
