I suffered with a hitch in my lower back for three months. And I mean suffered, to the point I was getting depressed. I was a tad skeptical, coming to Canon and not knowing anything or anyone working around chiropractic services, especially since no one I knew here in town used one with any regularity. That and each experience is so personal, I was rather leery about just jumping into one without some sort of recommendation. Then I ended up with shoulders so out of whack, I couldn't even turn my head without shooting pain up and down my neck into my shoulder blades. So I gave in, and made an appointment at Ottersberg, since they were just down the street. Seriously, SERIOUSLY glad that I did. Not only because my neck and shoulders aren't out of whack any longer (because that's always a lame thing), but because I had such a great experience there. It's a smaller office, off the main highway and the frontage road, right between the Abbey and Wal-Mart. They take appointments, though they have funky hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9-5 with an hour lunch at 1), but I imagine that's primarily because it's a small town, and they have a smaller clientele list, so they close on days when they don't make as much money. I've been able to get in if I call in the morning as a same day, though I imagine you could probably walk-in most days and be able to see him without a problem, since there aren't a lot of people that go there at any given time. The first visit for an adjustment, with a consultation and history, is $45, and every one after that is $35. They also have a pretty good masseuse there, apparently, though I've just heard that, and never used her. (Really, that's more because I'm poor, and don't have a spare hour for a nice massage, because well, ain't no nursing student got time fo' dat.) My big reason for my glowing review, though, is that I LOVE his technique. It's all a personal preference, of course, but he has a very firm technique where he uses leverage more than muscle, and it really helps with the trauma (because let's face it, moving your spine around is a form of trauma), because it's not as blunt as some other male practitioners. He also incorporates a rolling table where you lie afterwards to help your spine stay lose and move as it's naturally supposed to, which helps the adjustment "stick". Very awesome. I was in town just for the week leading up to New Years. I had a very kinked neck and could not move my head more than a few inches. They were able to get me in that same day. I was very skeptical and nervous that this would fix my neck and shoulder pain. After being there for 20 minutes I was all fixed up. Great experience and very helpful. read more
