Called the Durham number regarding a speeding ticket, spoke with a super nice receptionist who was extremely helpful. Thus the two star review. She than transferred me to a person named Len Smart? I was trying to explain the ticket to him, and he was rude and extremely condescending. I decided to tell him I did not need his help, thanked him and hung up the phone. I don't like making reviews on social media. I see many amazing reviews for this company on Google reviews. However, this employee/owner should not speak with potential clients the way he did. Pretty sad! read more

I had a traffic ticket I did not want to have on my record, I reached out to OTT Legal Services the day I got the ticket and spoke to paralegal Daniel Jenner who took the matter completely into his own hands with professionalism and kept me informed via email. With an impeccable driving record, I hired this company to fight a minor speeding ticket I received whereby there was obstructed signage for the speed limit while passing through a small town on a secondary highway. I provided dialogue verbally and via email along with pictures clearly articulating the obstruction expecting the ticket to be withdrawn. This company requires constant follow up as they do not return phone calls or e-mails and have a difficult time confirming receipt of information that was provided to them. I am still not confident that they filed the evidence and presented it in court as requested due the constant uncertainity and lack of organization on their part. I have now been left with the original charge, increased fine and out of pocket expense of hiring this company. This is not what one would expect from an 'experienced' team of paralegals (Len Smart, Jeff Smart and Cheryl Knapton) read more

OTT Legal has been at this location since 2002. This company was started by former Toronto Police Traffic Officer Chris Conway and is now owned by former Toronto Police Officer Len Smart. Meet the Business Owner: Len S.

Len Smart is the owner of the Durham Region and Peterborough Offices. He retired from the Toronto Police Service after 30 years, receiving the Exemplary Police Service Medal. During Len's career he received dozens of commendations and letters of recognition, having been Policeman of Month in 1988. Len worked as a uniform officer, plainclothes/undercover officer and Detective. Len worked at 55 Division, East Traffic Unit, 54 Division, 53 Division and 52 Division. In the later part of his career he was a Detective in the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Plainclothes Unit and the Major Crime Unit, working closely with regional and international police agencies. Len brings with him a vast amount of uniform police experience and unlimited expertise in all criminal investigations. Len is a Licensed Paralegal and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

I would not recommend them, like most they just take your money and run. Meaning they will just plea out the best they can. If you haven't been charged with a serious offence like Dangerous,Careless,50 over,Stunting etc. Go and play the game yourself and fight it, you can't do any worse then they would and save yourself over $600. But if you really want someone to represent you, do your homework and shop around your first consultation is always free. Use your judgement and feel people out, after a few you should be able to weed out the Bullshit. When I transferred my case to OTT Ajax site it was the day just before the court date. Mr. Len Smart was very straight and professional. He told me why I got the ridiculous two charges and how the accident happened in half hour while I met him, which the last ticket lawyer couldn't explain how these happened in the past four months even I gave them the same evidence. Because my unskilled English I got those ridiculous charges. But Mr. Smart was very patient and he never mind English was my second language. He helped me withdrawn one charge and decreased another one to the reasonable one. He and his assistant did everything very smoothly and efficient. Firstly, thank you to this OTT Legal office for their amazing work in dealing with my case! Just over a year ago I was charged with a "Careless Driving" offence, $500 fine and 6 demerit points. I was recently acquitted of the charge thanks to Daniel Jenner and team. YES, the ticket was thrown out! It's as if it never happened! Now I don't have to worry about any "stains" on my driving record/a rise in my insurance premium anymore. THANK YOU! This is the second time that I have hired the services of OTT Legal. I have an excellent driving record and unfortunately found myself in 2 serious situations. I met Lenny regarding a 8 month late ticket. Other lawyers refused to take my case. Leny advised me at length on what are my 'real chances' of the case to proceed, took my case. His OTT office called me on the day of the hearing, that the court reduced my charge from 'careless driving' to 'reduced charge of failing to turn left with enough opportunity', and dropped my demerit points from 6 to 3.
