It's tough to imagine your neighbor digging through trash just to feed their pet, or give them up because they can't afford their food at the time. But this is a reality for many dog owners in the state. For some, having a pet is the only family or friend they have. I learned so much about the great work they are doing for individuals, children and families who are experiencing hardship in accessing food. A bit of background: They are the state's largest private hunger-relief organization. They provide enough food to feed more than 116,000 hungry Oklahoman's each week through a network of schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. During a recent volunteer experience I got to see first hand what others in the OKC community have been raving about. This is the most well organized (and fun!!) volunteer experiences I've ever had. The volunteer leadership team does a great job at providing an bit of educational background about the organization and overview of what's in store for our time with them over the course of the next two hours. This was the most organized, clean, never slow, not a waste of my time feeling, and friendly volunteering I have ever participated in for an establishment like this. Usually it feels disorganized or like you should be doing more, but these people really have it down to a science on how to best utilize their volunteers. Now we organized food products into boxes according to weight so I don't know how other volunteering opportunities go there, but I am assuming everything is clockwork at RFB after my last experience. If you are looking for mindless volunteering where you move a lot, dance to music, love meeting new people or want to hang/work with friends, and want to find out instantly how many families your hard work will bring food too. Go here. Plus there staff is really friendly and helpful. Bonus they are very organized in logging your hours if you are needing it documented. I would come back.

Do not mind showing multiple forms of ID. For those who do the reason for this is that this pantry only serves Canadian County. All pantries do this. It's NOT intended to be hateful. It's just that they don't have enough to serve people from other counties. I went to Manna Pantry in August and with other help I have lasted through January. So I will be going in February. Manna Pantry has been excellent in providing food for needy people . My son has received food at…read morethe pantry. He is disabled and cannot afford to purchase enough food for himself. The line is usually long with a wait period. You are given an electronic device to be beeped when your turn comes up. The volunteers at the pantry do a great job and work hard to service every one. I have read some of the other reviews. Most complain about the food having an expired date. I have not noticed this with my son's food but I have not really looked. This food that is given to the center from stores that will have end of product lines, excess inventory and expiring food dates. I believe this is correct. According to my son, the food has been good. I am thankful for Manna Pantry. I believe they have a clothing facility. They also built a volunteer medical facility next store but I know nothing about it. I just want to convey my appreciation to the churches, people and any other support given to this facility.
