I had some hiccups in the beginning with my kids' lessons but after speaking with the manager and…read morethe coaches, I'm pretty pleased with the tennisplex. They listened to my issues and helped try to rectify the problems so that my sons could learn to their best ability and the best environment. Specifically, Coach Patrizio and Coach Richard are great instructors that take their time to instruct and encourage their students. My older son always comes away with new forms to learn and master. Although there are a couple of other students in his group lesson, my son expressed that he feels like it's a private lesson because of all the attention and instruction he receives. My younger son (age 6) has Coach Eleni, and she makes the lessons so exciting and fun that my son doesn't even think of it as a lesson but a fun time with her and the other new made friends. He is definitely getting the gist of tennis without feeling the pressure of learning but having fun. We ran into Coach Jack a handful of times, and he always took the time to check in and inquire how the kids were doing. He definitely seems available if we needed to correspond with him. We hope to continue our lessons with these instructors at the Tennisplex and advance in the game.

Professional tennis players have also visited the center and left nice autographed photos of them which is on the wall. The school is open from 7am to 11pm Sunday through Saturday. The website for the classes and times are on their website www.tennistrainingcentre.com/ or you can call the center. They are also training students who want to become a professional in soccer, volley ball and badminton. My niece attends here full-time since tennis is her passion. She has been playing tennis since she was 7 years old and she's 13 now. This center has students of all ages and as I watched them practice, they all are excited to be apart of the training center. I really like how they have the center well structured. They have cold drinks and etc for the students here, a television for the students to watch or play games on when they are finished training, bus service, and tables where the students can sit and do homework or study. I am not sure how much the center is for training full or part time, but they have staff here if you're requesting a tour and prices. My niece and the other students I watched practice and wow, they are EXCELLENT! I wish when I was growing up I was into tennis like these children are. I was a majorette and didn't like the sun or sweat (lol). These children love the sport and have so much energy. I'm really happy for them and sure they will all become professional tennis players.

Parents aren't allowed in to watch their kids practice, which I think is a good idea. Too many distractions. There are several places (including an awesome quiet place) for parents to hang and wait for their child's lesson to be over. The wifi is strong and I never have issues surfing the web or reading a Kindle book. There is an ice rink right around the corner. As well as a basketball court, a baseball field, and soccer field. My husband and I joined DC Fencer's Club (DCFC), a few years ago after purchasing a Groupon class…read more It is located in a small industrial park in Silver Spring, near the Forest Glen Anex of the Fort Detrick Army Base off of Linden Lane. DCFC focuses on Epee and Saber fencing styles but you can occasionally find a Foil fencer on Monday night after footwork to fence with. We are still fencing regularly at DCFC, but have changed coaches to Coach David. Coach David has a great sense of humor and understands how my husband and I have very different styles and works with us to both refine both of them. I highly recommend David. The club continues to improve in various ways in terms of facilities. The most recent improvements have been to the lighting and to the main office/waiting areas. New to Fencing? Want to know more?: A lot of the information in my original post about the basics of set up, parking, membership and most of the facilities are still true. I recommend reading that for a more thorough review about the things you will be interested in if you are just starting out.

Though its focus is certainly on épée, the DC Fencing Club (DCFC) is the strongest fencing club I…read moreknow of in the DMV area. It had (last time I was there at least) 8 electric, grounded strips, most of which have ceiling hookups. The coaching staff, especially the head coach, Janusz, are welcoming of any and all fencers who choose to fence at the club, and the other club members are incredibly friendly. Members pay a general floor fee to use the space and can also take private lessons with members of the coaching staff. Additionally, the club leads a group conditioning course once a week. Club members are welcoming to new and potential members and form a kind and close-knit community. They organize themed fencing nights for holidays (like Halloween) and may arrange carpools for local tournaments. Some of this is certainly due to the number of families with fencing parents and children at the club, though most evenings you'll find a number of non-fencing parents there too. There are members of all levels of competitiveness and it's generally a fantastic place at which to fence.
