Quoted 3x the amount that the job is worth. Makes all kinds of promises that he will do this and do that, doesn't show up on the day that he is supposed to. (He misleads to get the job.) When he shows up the next day, he doesn't do anything he promised he would do when his crew trims the trees. Plus his crew grumbles and complains and badmouths the customer the whole time behind the customer's back (or within earshot), and their attitude is that they will just do a quick job and be out of there in 1 hour on a job that requires 3-4 hours work, so they can move on to the next potential customer. Not kidding about this. I would definitely not hire Oscar's. There are many, many tree cutting companies to choose from. Interview them, talk to them, and hold their feet to the fire. Get at least 5-7 quotes and negotiate down in price if you have to. Don't allow them to overcharge you. The majority of them will definitely try to overcharge you ALOT if you don't do your homework. On a 3-4 hour tree cutting job of both large and medium sized trees, at the high end you would be paying $1,100 tops, but you should be able to negotiate down to $700-900 (maybe less) depending on how much you are willing to pay. Remember to get at least 5-7 (not 3 quotes). Take your time. And don't overpay. Negotiate down. Most tree cutting companies can work on your trees within a couple of days to 1 week, so if you are in a hurry, you should still be able to get 5-7 quotes, get it down to a decent price you can live with, and get your trees trimmed with a pretty quick turnaround. read more
