Made a special trip out to Tribeca to see an Ernie Barnes expose. Had no idea this place even existed, and apparently neither did Yelp! The only reason I found out about this place is because I recently subscribed to an NYC art newsletter that covers gallery shows and museum exhibits.
I loved how they treated the Ernie Hudson works. Showed them as he meant them to be shown, in wooden frames and earthy backgrounds, while also showing how his work affected pop culture (album covers, TV shows, literature). They were displayed tastefully, for the viewer to truly appreciate and enjoy.
Looking back over their past exhibits, they appear to be diverse, colorful, interesting, and at times edgy! Looking all the way back into 2021, I think I would have visited almost every show! And I can't say that about any other gallery!
I can't believe it took this long to find this place, can't believe it doesn't have a bigger presences on social media or the internet. But I will now be on the lookout and will return again and again! read more
