Orting animal hospital is good place to go. I do agree with some reviews that it is expensive. Our last vet location was in Redmond and they never charged us a "meet the doctor fee" which is literally just an exam. We paid $110 deposit (exam fee) and an additional $145 for the vaccines and such. The staff is really nice! I made a mistake previously for appt time and they were nice enough to reschedule me since I double booked the actual time I was supposed to come in. Will be back to bring in my baby for their final vaccine. read more

Took our INDOOR cat there for a second opinion due to vomiting after eating. They changed his diet to $100 food. Charged us $500 for the visit and little lab work that was worthless and gave no answers. Now because they don't clean themselves or their work areas between animals, we are dealing with ear mites. Which in turn infected our other second cat at home. Never had this issue going to any other vet with our cats EVER! I honestly think they should be covering the cost of this mishap on their part! WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!!! read more

Wait time We were told to arrive 5-10 minutes before our scheduled appointment, and once we got there the vet did not see us for about 35 minutes after our scheduled appointment. We ended up waiting a total of about 45 minutes total. Environment The office was very clean and professional. It felt just like a doctor's office. I also like how they provided a TV for the animals! Communication I really like the amount of communication this office provides. They send you confirmation e-mails, information sheets and reminders before and after the appointment. Everything is incredibly easy to understand and it lets you know about health concerns to look out for! On top of that, since this was our first visit I was really impressed how they went out of their way to contact our previous vets and gather information about our cat. Vet Encounter The vet was incredibly kind, professional, and knowledgeable. We really liked how she was able to answer all our questions and did a very good job examining our cat. We really liked how she went out of her way to wrap our cat up in her blanket and cover her face as they brought her into a different room for bloodwork to help her remain calm. You can tell she really cares about the animals. You can definitely feel safe with their vets and technicians. Cost This, and the wait time is what takes off a few stars for me. Right off the bat you must pay a $110 dollar deposit which goes towards your visit. It's listed as an Exam - office visit on the bill, this is fine, but after the appointment you get charged quite a large fee for the actual exam, ours was an additional 250 dollars, excluding vaccinations and lab work. We do have a senior cat, so this may have affected the price, but $360 for a regular exam is quite a lot. Main Issue My main issue with our visit is our cat has a tooth that is being reabsorbed and they told us she needed surgery to have it extracted. They said they could do this in addition to a tooth cleaning, and they had us schedule the surgery for the following Tuesday. Because if this we were told had to get blood work and urine work done to make sure it was safe for our cat to be put under anesthesia, and that it takes a few days to get the results so they could do it during the visit that day. A couple days later, the day before the surgery they called me to cancel the surgery. They said based on her heart condition that was in her file, her age, and they type of surgery they could not do the surgery and recommended we went to a specialist. They were really good about sending us a list of specialists to help us find one. However, this is something they could have told us before we spent $75 dollars on lab work. Since we have to wait a few months to actually get an appointment for surgery with the specialist, they will need to do the bloodwork all over again. The fact that this caused us to waste a lot of extra money on top of the hefty exam fee is my biggest reason for taking off points. read more

Good: great prompt service. Took my kitten in for second round of shots and health exam Bad: cost $365!! Quote to neuter the cat was over $750. ** ended up switching to vet down the street permanently and for third round of shots, it cost me $42. He was seen at new vet for neuter. That surgery was $175 plus $18 for pain medication. Also, I recently got a puppy. Got quote from Orting vet for dog neuter. The quote was nearly $1100. My current vet dog neuter is the same as the cat- $175. My new vet just did a puppy exam and second round of shots. $80 total. (Remember- my cat got the same services- it was over $365) Orting vet clinic is nicer and newer than my current vet. But the prices are 4 times the amount for same services. The two vets are only a couple miles apart. It's a no brainier. Sorry, but we won't be back to Orting animal hospital due to the high prices. read more

In dealing with my fearful dog, I was told they threw a blanket over his head while trying to do an exam. I totally understand the challenges with dealing with an animal that's fearful but I switched to another vet that has different techniques. Tried to get a reimbursement for the 110.00 I was charged for getting his heartbeat. Nothing. read more

I waited for my mind to be at peace before I wrote this review. I brought my cat in for euthanasia. I didn't think they don't give a calming shot before they pun the IV in her leg. I asked for a calming shot and they said that it's done after they set the IV. I thought that's not right but they took her in the back and brought her back all freaked out because of this object in her leg that she couldn't get rid of. Then the vet came in, asked me if I was ready, again thinking she will give her a calming shot and I could spend more time with her in my arms. I said yes. She gave her the shots one after another, in a matter of 10 seconds, like she was in a hurry. Next moment I looked at my cat, she was gone. There was no time between the shots, there was no calm before the end. I've been with other pets in their last moments and they always had a half dose from the calming shot first, then they got prepped for the IV, then got the rest of the calming shot and in the end the lethal dose. It felt rushed, lacking compassion and whatever asked for, nobody actually listened. That protocol was backwards. read more

Pet owners beware. I brought my boarder collie here 7/23/24 after a lake swim and she became lethargic and wouldn't let me touch her back or sides. She kept squatting to pee but was in pain. I was worried she may have lepto. Or a bladder infection from the lake. The vet disregarded my thoughts. The vet tech said it wasn't a concern because I was in a lake and they usually get that from standing water. The VET listened to her lungs and said it didn't sound right and worried about aspiration. Although her head never went under water. I did the x- ray per her recommendation and it came back clear. The Tech asked me if my collie was in tact or spade and I told her she was in tact. She said she wanted to do ultrasound to see her uterus in case of Pyometra -deadly uterine infection. She did a quick ultrasound with me in the room. She did not shave her belly. I said" is that her bladder? What is all that floating debris? Could that indicate a bladder infection?" The Vet said yes but that wasn't what she was looking at. She said that my collie has Pyometra. She gave me a 2245.00 quote for an emergency surgery that I could schedule for the next day. Told me they were closing and had to make a decision but not to feel pressured!!!! (seriously) Vet gave me a prescription and told me to fill it at Safeway and when I asked if Safeway would have it because it's a pet prescription I was told that yes they would have it. Safeway didn't!!!!! Panicked,I went back to the vet that was now closed to see if I could get them to answer the door. I tried calling but no answer. I left a message. I called Tahoma Vet and the emergency vet called me back. I made an appointment at Tahoma vet for the surgery the next morning. After what I just experienced I was not going back to ORTING VET! After the surgery I found out that my Collie did NOT have Pyometra but had a bladder infection and a skin infection on her back!!!! They never even looked at her back at the first vet! I asked for a refund of my vet bill 650.00 in Orting and I was denied, even after talking to the Manager and the medical Director. I could have asked for all of it! The total from both vets was about 1800!!! For something she didn't have and now I have a dog that may have other health issues due to being spayed! I'm currently treating for not only the skin infection and the bladder infection but also the spay! I would advise to go elsewhere!!!!!!! read more

I would recommend this vet if it's the only option you have because they are kind of expensive. They are very nice and gave my dog good care, but it seems that they are trying to make money off of people. They charged me just over $300 for my dog to be seen for an ear infection. The exam fee alone is $95. I would pay a lot less through my regular vet, but she is on vacation. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at this veterinary office. I had been taking my cat there for care so I was not a new customer. I called in the morning and made an appointment for 2:30 p.m. I got off early from my volunteer job at the Bonney Lake food bank so I could go. We were very busy and it was hard to get away. I rushed to get my cat and drive to Orting. I got there 8 minutes late. The receptionist told me she would check to see if they could take me. They said no, I would have to reschedule for another day. I said I was very worried about my cat because she wasn't eating and could they please still see her. They said no and handed me a list of other vet. offices in the county. I begged and there was no compassion. I WAS LESS THAN 10 MINUTES LATE! I will never go back! read more

I feel like this place has nickel and dimed me for the three dogs I started taking there. I'm searching for a new vet right now. I tried to get them all switched over to this place only to find out they gave one dog a Heartworm test but not the other oldest one. They send me a receipt for their visit and all it says is "vaccine revenue" what vaccine I can't remember. I had to ask for a vaccine record and now I find out they didn't vaccinate for lepto on the 2 older dogs but they did on the new puppy- why I don't know- but now I have to pay for another appointment for the 2 oldest and more "vaccine revenue" for them. read more

Great new addition to the Orting Shopping Center! Staff was lovely. I've never seen my twelve year old dog so relaxed at the vet! He felt a little betrayed when he got his rabies booster but all was forgiven quickly. So so happy to have found a place I can confidently take my two rescue dogs. read more

I have used this vet for the last couple of years for my cats and dogs. Overall I have been satisfied with the service. Most of the vets I have dealt with here have been positive interactions along with the staff. Today though, I am very disappointed. I had a tech visit for my two cats to receive the 2nd shot of a vaccine series. One appt was 1pm and the other was 130. I was late, arrived at 115. Was told they couldn't see the first one because I was late but I could still do the 2nd cat since her appt was 130. What disturbed me about this is that there was an hour booked for a tech visit for 2 cats. 45 minutes seems like more than enough time to address the booster shot and still get us out without disrupting their schedule. The fact is the 1oclock appt would have addressed both cats and we would've been out at 130. If i had only had the one appt I totally would've been fine with the fact they couldn't see me. It is the fact that the appt that was being infringed on was my own. It is the fact that we are established patients. Certainly, this experience is making me reconsider future services with this clinic. read more

They told us one time for the appointment and we showed up at that time and they said oh your appointment was a half hour ago... ummmm no it was not! Then they rescheduled the appointment and took another $200 on top of the $450 we already paid! Total rip off! Called and canceled the rescheduled appointment and got our money back! Even if you have used their services several times, and spent thousands of dollars, they will not try to get you in if you have a sudden emergency. They will gladly schedule an appointment several days out, when they finally do have an opening, but even if you fear that your pet will die if it doesn't have care quickly, they will not bend, and try to squeeze you in. This is not the case with the vet in McMillan, he will squeeze you in, even if it isn't too serious, in order to make sure your pet's issue doesn't get worse and become critical. read more

My dog was having some intense dry heaving and bloating today and I was referred to them because they take day of appointments. These people are the gentlest, sweetest, most kind hearted people. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly, find a veterinary hospital that could take my dog on a transfer tonight, and they advocated for me price wise over the phone without me even asking. They were knowledgeable and comforting to me and my dog. I am grateful my vet didn't answer my calls because I wouldn't have found this wonderful place. I will definitely be making the 30 minute drive from now on for all of my dog's vet appointments. Thank you for making such a stressful experience so easy! read more

Great for regular and/or emergency visits BUT if you have an ongoing issue that requires follow up or specialist guidance/assistance this is not the place to take your pet. Once Charlie was diagnosed, communication was delayed or non existent. Charlie was in line to see a specialist (not related to this place) for hyperthyroidism.There were several visits to more than one clinic to ease Charlie's symptoms and keep her healthy enough to get to that point. Once the specialist had reviewed her records, my sister was instructed to wait to hear from the vet at Orting Animal Hospital for the next step. Despite numerous phone calls on my sister's end during this time, that instruction never came. Her urgent phone calls were never returned. Charlie's health deteriorated and after the 7 week ordeal of watching Charlie slowly die before our eyes the choice was made to let her go. Hyperthyroidism is treatable and her death was completely avoidable. Charlie has been gone for several weeks now and there still has been no returned phone call from Orting Animal Hospital regarding the "next step" required for her to see the specialist and start treatment. Follow up and follow through are extremely important, Orting Animal Hospital failed miserably and my sister and Charlie suffered because of it. read more
