In 2018, I had a very successful knee replacement at the Gainesville location, receiving both surgery and Physical Therapy for pre-hab and re-hab training there. Now, in 2026, I am returning for a hip replacement, and am very pleased that TOI has remodeled its intake protocols so that, in my experience, there is little to no waiting (!) -- in the front office, for radiology studies, for face-to-face with providers, and for PT/OT visits. There seems to be a fresh sense of well-being and contentment among the staff and providers, a feeling of smoother and more efficient management of people and time. Additionally, TOI has opened a walk-in Ortho Emergency clinic on site.

After setting the appointment on the phone they texted me a link to fill out my intake information before coming to save time. At the front desk they took my MRI disk and made copies for the doctor and returned the hard copy. Very quick and timely. I definitely recommend checking out this location if you need help with Orthopedic issues. The nurse Alexis was very kind and conversational and help make me feel right at home.

They are more informal than most PT practices but they seem to be competent. I am gradually seeing increased stamina and I know I feel better when I come away from a session at FYZICAL. HOWEVER, as is standard with Medicare, the PTA can only work with you when there is a licensed physical therapist in the building. This office only has a licensed PT on site Tuesdays and Thursdays, which limits availability of appointments. AND if, as happened today, the licensed PT unexpectedly decides to work elsewhere that day, it is possible one can arrive for an 8 am appointment only to learn that, without him on site, no therapy can happen that morning. I realize this may be a one-off experience, and that it was an oversight - but this kind of thing should never happen with a professional medical service provider. Over time, these two factors combine to my lowering my review to three stars.

Dr. Wright stated that as soon as his scheduler came back from vacation in Germany we would get a call to schedule the treatment. Today is November 17th and nothing but a call from the scheduler to tell us we filled out the wrong paperwork and she was going to send us the correct ones. Really, we filled out what they gave us. As of today and with my husband's condition continuing to deteriorate and after 4 calls, that I had to leave messages because nobody ever answered, have gotten zero follow up. With at least one doctor, one physician's assistant (PA), one nurse, one x-ray technician, & one receptionist on duty, sprains, strains, & minor broken bones can be treated. X-rays are performed quickly. No appointment is necessary here, but pre-registration is recommended. Your wait is dependent upon how many arrived before you. I've been here twice in one week for two separate breaks. My midweek visit was approximately 2.5 hours (after waiting on the PA and then the doctor); however, I was in and out w/in one hour two nights later. Doctors and PA's rotate. (For example, one night a hand surgeon was on staff; the next night it was a knee doctor.) If you have a break, a cast can be made; however, the hand therapy & physical therapy centers are not open. Splints cannot be made & major breaks cannot be treated. However, the only real downer I experienced over both visits is the unnecessary wait for the doctor to walk into the room (for a few minutes stay) after the qualified PA had done all the work. It was time consuming & a wasteful formality; the wait for the doctor should be optional (aka patient's choice) since PA's are more than qualified. Follow-up appointments w/ doctors during regular business hours can be made upon checkout. Parking is free. After 6 PM the parking attendants are off duty so there is no valet parking. (If it's an MRI or CAT scan you need, appointments are required. The radiology area closes at 10 PM & is on the first floor of the building. See pics.)
