Two different doctors over a couple of years, two bad experiences. Treated as a robot with no consideration to my providing details of my reason for visit. They must have used their #1 possibility on the doctor's checklist for ailments, and they went no farther. Both times, my problems could have been disastrous. One doctor even prescribed an over-the-counter product that could have killed me when taken with my existing Rx's. I told him I shouldn't take that, yet he 3x told me it was what I needed and sent me on my way. Fortunately, I persisted in finding competent doctors elsewhere who safely got me through some of the worst of times. Never again! read more

It is a very sad day that I have to put such a rating. the original founders of this practice were great physicians and truly cared about their patients. Today, with the new technology you cannot even speak to someone in the practice. it is impossible to get the care you need from the doctor that did the surgery due FAILED system processes put into place! my father is 81 years old and he should not have issues getting the care he deserves. I will say that I spoke to a practice manager that understands the very broken process but the powers that be apparently are not concerned about patient care! I have requested a call from their chief quality officer, CEO and others to no avail. I am a nurse that has worked in Quality improvement for years and this is unacceptable. Perhaps it is time for complaints to the medical board, CMS as the payor of Medicare services. It's very unfortunate that as leadership they are not willing to discuss the issues that impede safe and appropriate patient care! Unfortunately, they may have great doctors but their processes prohibit excellent care of their patients. read more

Each time I have gone here I spend 10-15 min only with the doctor yet I am charged for 35-45 min which is a lie. Rip off my insurance that's ok but don't ask me for money on-top of the scam you all do. read more

Great Doctors and great nursing staff. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be called. I had X-ray taken and consultation done well less than an hour. My appointment was at 3:50 and was out by 4:30. My wife and daughter has had wrist and knee surgery done by Dr. Stuckey. He is highly recommend by all of us. read more

worst Doctor ever Brian Opalacz. . He is not a nice man . you ask him a question who looks at you like you're dumb asking him a question . I got my cast off and they put a boot on , a really mean nurse . I got a skin irritation from the boot , so bad when my skin was blistering and bubbling . the mean nurse who put the boot on didn't really tell me instructions or anything about the boot . I didn't see my doctor Brian he was always busy in the other room they always sent in another Doctor because Brian was to busy to look in on me when I was his patient . I called about my skin irritation and asked for antibiotics and they said no. Toni , Brian are the two I have been talking to and they just don't care about their patients. very rude and unprofessional in that office . The girl who helped me put on my boot got frustrated because it was taking long for me to get it in . very inpatient she was . I will never go back to the Shelby North Carolina Ortho Carolina . never they are the worst read more

Not a good experience. I went back to have a cast removed and X-Rays after the initial cast was put on about 10 days prior. I was told when I was brought in the exam room that their newer "castoff" machine wasn't working so they had to use an older one which was loud. No big deal right. Well that one smelled bad and got hot so they couldn't use that one either. Bring in the third one and that one had a dull blade so they had to switch out blades...cast off, X-Rays done and new cast put on 2 hours later.... The girl who put the new cast on obviously didn't know how to properly put on a cast and it was coming apart before the day was over. Next day I had to go back and have that one removed with a machine they got from another office and another one put on... A few days later I get a call from a company wanting to charge me $30 to fill out about 5 questions on some FMLA paperwork I needed for work that I left with them on my second office visit. They are incapable of filling out a form by themselves so they farm it out! I could have filled it out and all I needed was their signature but they don't allow that. I won't be going back there! read more

I took my daughter to the location in Shelby and had a disappointing conversation with a Ms. Susan Oakes concerning a very small balance from 4 years ago. We waited since the beginning of June to get this appointment with Dr. Fiore...arrived early and I was presented with a bill for $19.48 plus our $20 co-pay. NOBODY including Ms. Oakes could explain to me why there was a $19.48 charge that remained but they did admit that they do not bill for amounts under $20. Having had this sprung on me at the last minute and having coincidentally paid the same exact amount in June when I visited the practice. I asked that they give me time to review my records since they couldn't say where it came from and that I thought they were incorrect. She stormed off without saying anything and when she came back she told me that they could reschedule for 2:40 PM. Our original appointment was for 9:30 AM. My daughter missed school and we had driven quite a ways and I wasn't willing to waste more time and gas dealing with this when they could have seen her, I could have come home and done my research and called them back today to pay it if deemed necessary or call back with my research results. She refused...she said it was due and owing upon demand and was just rude in the way she treated me like she didn't have time for this. We left without paying the $19.48 and cancelled all appointments for all members of the family. She gave me a phone number for David Little, Director of Operations at 704-323-2364. I called at 10:06 AM and left a detailed message on his voice mail. Mr. Little has yet to return my call. I also found out that they hold credits under $20 so if you have $19.99 that they owe you, the ONLY way to get that back is through another visit. Turns out I have a credit on my account that they cannot transfer over but she refused to say how much it was. I have been in collections for almost 40 years. I have NEVER treated a customer with such disregard. As a bank employee and in charge of a portfolio I had to be prepared to tell customers every transaction that went on with their accounts. I expect an organization as large as OrthoCarolina to do the same. If I owe something you need to be able to tell me why...especially something that is close to 4 years old and sprung on someone at the last moment as this was. They also didn't show the payment I made for $1948 in June and Ms Oakes snarkily asked if I had the receipt...because I carry around receipts from doctors for 3 months...again something I would have to get from home . We have been long time customers and I had no issues with the care I received from the doctors though I was supposed to receive a call after my June appointment for a procedure and never did. The quality of customer care in the lobby and obviously the scheduling staff has deteriorated. Like many practices I dealt with at work, I am not sure that the doctors have any clue about the policies of their front office. In this case they did not receive their $19.48 and managed to run off thousands of dollars in future business...I already have appointments for my daughter and I at another orthopedic practice that seems much friendlier...turns out we had a small balance on my daughter with them. The lady allowed me time to research it and it was just an error in which insurance had been filed...the problem was easily solved and in a timely manner which is all that I requested from Ms. Oakes. I cannot at this time recommend Orthocarolina to anyone given my experience. read more

My wife was a patient there and I was surprised at how accommodating and helpful they were on her visits. This is a very busy place and they act like they really care about patient's concerns and are always happy to answer any questions. read more
