Wanted to make all aware of my experience with Ortho Dog knee brace company. My lab tore his ACL. I wanted to get a brace ASAP while working through a big picture plan of recovery for Luke. Having no experience with canine ACL issues I let my love for my dog be my guide - wish I had not of done that. I assumed you "get what you pay for" and this knee brace that costs 2-3 times what comparable braces on Amazon cost - must be wonderful. It was anything but wonderful. Initially Ortho Dog sent out pieces from several braces that physically could not work together. Then they sent out the proper brace but unfortunately it pulled itself off in less than 5 minutes each time. I worked with Ortho Dog on fitting and refitting but the result was always the same - it pulled off in less than 5 minutes. I offered to take off work and drive 1,000 miles so that Ortho Dog could fit it - they said no. I paid and took the brace to a veterinarian (Countryside - Ellicott City, MD) who was experienced with braces of all types yet when they fit it it lasted less than 3 minutes before falling off. We were very careful taking measurements and pictures (several times under Ortho Dog's supervision) but nothing worked. Ortho Dog refused to give me a refund or a partial refund for this $325 brace that absolutely worthless - I was naive - I actually thought it was about the dog. It would have been far less painful if I had just thrown the $325 out the window while driving. Do yourself a favor - buy a brace off of Amazon. Amazon customer services will assist you with a bad transaction. There is a reason that Ortho Dog is not available on Amazon............ Please be careful. David Middle River, MD read more

Dr. Jones from Veterinary Secrets recommended Ortho Dog for ACL. I called the company and Karen was very kind to assure me that this brace would support my dogs leg from turning out at the knee. She said it had 6 metal pieces for support. I had even sent a video to show what was happening. She assured me this would work. She completed the order for me as I gave her my CC #. This material is sewn very well. It fits well. However it doesn't stop the leg from turning out at the knee and there are no 6 pieces of metal on the side for support. I called back many times and they suggested adjusting the fit and resending pictures of adjustments. It's adjusted very snugly but doesn't make one bit of difference on his knee popping out. I called back and Christine who I had never dealt with said these braces are non refundable. I called the next day thinking that Karen who I had been dealing with and knew exactly what had transpired on this purchase would agree to take the cloth support back since she told me it would work and their were 6 metal supports in it. I spoke with Karen and wow, she had a completely different attitude. She said I had checked a box that said I had read the purchase agreement that this $295.00 brace was non refundable. I was shocked. This company does not care about the welfare of your best friend. I am 70yrs old and I need the money to get my best friend a surgury. I never saw a purchase agreement cause she filled out the CC info for me and placed the order. I don't know if their business is struggling but BUYER BEWARE THEY DONT WORK and DON'T trust what they tell you to sell their product. Refund policy. I measured my dog, placed my order and paid them. They said they didn't make a harness for my small dog. They kept $20.00 of the refund just to tell me they don't make harnesses in my dog's size. The $20.00 they kept could have gone toward a brace from another dog brace company. I don't think they care as much about your injured dog as they do their bank account. read more

Our seven year old wirehaired pointing griffon hurt his knee this winter. After much research we purchased a Cruciate Care Knee Brace - Medium Wide. At first we had problems with the brace not staying in place even though we had all the straps right. Then we realized our big shaggy beast was getting his hair lodged in the brace disrupting the fit when he laid down or rolled in the snow. So we trimmed the fur on his leg quite a bit. Now when he lays down or sits then stands back up the brace goes into the proper position to support his knee. This brace now holds his knee in the proper position so he can put weight on that foot flat on the ground. Lesson is don't blame the brace if the fur is getting in the way. We are the owners and should be able to figure some things out. The brace is well designed, well manufactured and easy enough to use. We have had contact with Karen who has been very helpful. Our vet did say to try a brace to go with rest and dietary supplements but did not recommend a company for the brace. We will be bringing our dog to the vet so the vet can examine the brace and tell others about it. As far as people complaining about no returns, that is stated up front on the web page. read more

Refund policy. Did not help my dog at all. My dog couldn't walk in it. I send videos of my dog .. and bought extra stuff when they told me it would help and nothing. I got a refund for less than 25 percent of price. Waste of time and money. Wouldn't do anything until I complained so much they gave me that. read more

Our 13 1/2 year old dog had really slowed down because of hip dysplasia that is so bad that his right leg bone was no longer connected to his hip. This meant having to carry this 65-pound dog up multiple flights of stairs. Walking had slowed to a painful shuffle with the nails of one rear leg often dragging on the pavement. He would walk a few feet slowly, stop, rest, and walk a few feet again. It was heartbreaking to watch :( Searching for some kind of solution, we heard super-positive feedback about Ortho Dog from a friend of a friend who had purchased their Hip Hound Brace for the same problem. We too read the negative reviews about their return policy (which is a bit restrictive but is also very common sense), but decided after researching competing products to give Ortho Dog a try. We bought the Hip Hound Brace hoping that using it would at least reduce our dog's pain while out for a walk. The results were and are GAME-CHANGING. Now I have to jog to keep up with our dog! He loves long walks again instead of pulling for home at the first street corner! Upon our return home, dog walks up the steps. No more carrying him!!!! He radiates confidence instead of pain and discomfort!!! We only use the Hip Hound Brace when we talk him outside for a walk. I do not know why, but the wonderful results have carried over to when he is moving around in the house. Last night I came home and he ran down the long hallway to greet me --- right next to our other dog who has no hip dysplasia and is much younger!!! The Ortho Dog has significantly improved our dog's quality of life, and we are super-grateful that they made this all possible!!! A few things you should also know: Ortho Dog offers several products tailored to various mobility problems. So if your dog has mobility issues other than hip dysplasia, I suggest you check out their web site to see whether they offer a product that addresses your dog's needs. This is no one size fits all solution! As part of the checkout process, the site asks some questions (have a yardstick or tape measure handy) to recommend the exact size of Hip Hound Brace to order. Before buying we had one or two questions; Ortho Dog responded within an hour or two to our email inquiry and even asked follow-up questions to provide us with an optimal answer. Good sign! For the first 3 or 4 days we put on the brace, our dog slightly resisted me putting on the brace and walked a bit awkwardly. After that break-in period, he now stands completely still as I put the brace on, and he begin walking like he did 5 or more years ago. So be a bit patient if you buy this product; it does work!!! There are velcro straps on the rear part of the brace that require a bit of trial and error to adjust to your dogs legs. But once you adjust them to fit, you can leave the velcro straps "locked" and just slip on the rear brace like a pair of doggie shorts going forward. My 9 month old puppy has double hip dysplasia . The Orthodog hip brace has been a game changer. this compression brace holds her hips in place while she runs around like the happy puppy she is without her experiencing the lameness or limping we saw before we started using the brace. I have had a very positive experience with this company. My 5-year old Heeler, Pancho, tore his ACL (CCL) and had surgery in March. I was told he needed 3 months to recover and that I had to limit his activity for that time. We live on a 77 acre ranch over which all four of our dogs roam freely. I couldn't imagine how I was going to keep Pancho from re-injuring his knee. Enter Ortho Dog and their knee brace. It's been a marvel. Granted I had to work with it a bit to make it fit Pancho, but that done he wears it with ease and it gives his knee the support it needs to heal. We're two months into his recovery and he's doing great. I'd recommend Ortho Dog to anyone whose dog has had this surgery. It's a game-changer! read more

The team at Ortho Dog is wonderful, very responsive to all our questions and very caring. Our 9 year old Golden Retriever injured her knee running after a squirrel. We thought about all options and decided to try a non surgical approach due to the long recovery and immobilization surgery required. After viewing Ortho Dog videos it was apparent that the brace would give her adequate support to continue all her much enjoyed time outside and daily walks. Her recovery was fairly fast and in less than two months she was running and playing without the brace. She did re-injure her knee about 2 months later (too excited and playful after her bath), so we are back in the brace and she is on the road to recovery. I will definitely leave her in her brace an extra month this time, just to be on the safe side of recovery. All in all a excellent alternative to surgery, as she has been walking on all 4 legs 99% of the time. One more suggestion for long hair dogs, probably best to trim hair on upper thighs. read more

My dog has an ACL tear and I purchased their brace for him hoping to give him relief and for it to heal. The quality of this product is sub par. They do not take returns at all. Customer service is horrible. They basically take your $$$ and run! read more

In 2019 Tansy tore one of her back ACLs and the following year, she tore the other back ACL; both were corrected with surgery. However, after that she began developing arthritis in her back and hips. Over the last several months, the signs of aging and the arthritis have quickly caught up with Tansy. She has been having a very difficult time moving around or standing for any length of time. Her front paws began to deform, likely in part due to her compensating for the pain and deformation in her back end. An Aunt told us about OrthoDog and said it had worked wonders for their dog. We knew we had to try it in hopes of giving Tansy a better quality of life for whatever time she has left. Tansy doesn't necessarily like wearing it, and she acts like a bit of a baby about it, but it has been nothing short of a wonderful little miracle seeing our sweet fur-baby being able to move around better, after only a few days of wearing the brace. It's still obvious in her mobility that Tansy is 15 years old, but the Orthodog brace has brought a little bit of her spark back as she seems to be in less pain and able to move around more freely. For all of that, we are extremely grateful and feel the brace is worth every penny! The customer service has also been fantastic - from verifying measurements so we make sure to order the correct size, to consulting on the fit of the brace after we received it. BUYER BEWARE! If you buy this product, and return it, they will keep your money and charge a "restocking" fee claiming their is dog hair on it. I wanted it to work or I wouldn't had spent $264.00 to try it. There is no way this brace would had helped my dog nor would it had ever stayed on. The measurements claimed it would work but it didn't. If you have a dog, that has fur, don't expect to get a full refund after you realize the brace is not worth $20.00 Look at the reviews on the better business website!!! Their website just shows raving reviews isn't that convenient? Look at the BBB before you buy please! Have tried the Hip Hound Brace unsuccessfully multiple times over 2 years with our aging Shepherd cross. Once it is tightened enough to ostensibly make a difference, he becomes hobbled by it, not able to lift one hind leg, cannot sit without keeling over. Our vet says he cannot imagine any support counteracting hip dysplasia. When I read the other comments, I realize we owners can be a very vulnerable lot. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. UPDATE: I posted the exact review (below) on Google and the response from the company in part basically said, "we are a small company, and cant afford to return your money" and also "for every one dog the brace doesn't work for, there are a hundred that it does". So basically they have their company set up solely to ensure THEY make money, and also MY ONE DOG that risked injury due to bad design of their product is not their concern. VERY BAD BUSINESS MODEL. It is now my hope that MY ONE transparent negative review saves HUNDREDS of potential customers the danger of this product and keeps money in your pockets. Back to my original review: I'm writing this review, in an effort to save someone else the aggravation, esp when you are already stressed because you have an injured dog & are trying to help it get better non surgically. If you are considering this product (Cruciate Care Knee Brace), please read this review, and go to the BBB website & read all the negative claims before buying. After purchase, I received a shipping confirmation within AN HOUR of ordering it, but when I had issues with it once my dog started wearing it, it was a nightmare to get a hold of customer service. When I finally did, I spoke with Elizabeth, the owner and developer. They like to take payment but they do not like to help fix problems or offer refunds. They state that they will not refund a product with hair on it, so when you first get it you are to put a shirt over your dog and socks on its legs until you are sure the brace fits, or you may receive a reduced refund or none at all. I followed the rules and insured a proper fit. The brace "fit" appropriately so I put it directly on my dog, but after she wore it for about a day, it became clear, that whenever my dog would lay down, the brace would slip down and literally hang up on the ankle of her injured leg. (See Picture Attached) When she would try to get up, the brace took her leg out at the ankle putting strain on the knee area. The brace is dangerous, esp for a dog who already has a CCL or stifle area injury. (I'll mention too that they throw it in your face that you agreed to and signed the return terms, as if that is their magic words to not be liable for anything.) I tried twice to contact the company via their online contact form, with pictures of the fit as well as how it looked when it slipped off and never heard anything. Then I tried calling (a little upset by now) and was told they "NEVER have problems with the online form" and I now needed to send the pictures again to another email. When I did, Elizabeth emailed me back, said it seems as though a custom fit brace would be better and I was to mail their brace back. See emails attached. (Another thing I will point out is it states on their contact form: "Note: If you receive a message that your email has been rejected as spam, please try using an alternate email address. The best method for contacting us is by using our contact form below. If you continue to have your email blocked as spam, please contact us by phone." I have NEVER in my life seen this on a contact form, and it made me think that they must have had problems somewhere to put this in writing..... but "they NEVER have had a problem receiving contact forms".... A few days after mailing it back, I had to contact them to see if they received it and I was told that I would receive NO REFUND at all because of the dog hair and that the elastic was frayed. Again, the issue wasn't with the fit, I handled that procedure as stated in the instructions, it was a DESIGN FLAW in the product that would never have shown up until after the dog wore it for a time, and NO ONE would have left the brace on their dog over top socks and a shirt for days - completely unrealistic. Also, by them saying the "elastic was frayed" on a brace my dog wore no more than two days is only another testimony to the overall quality of the produce. Don't buy this product, it is a nightmare and dangerous! They eventually refunded me $30 (of the total fee of $262). I deserved a full refund. I'll also comment that shipping initially cost $27 and I paid $9.45 to return it, as per instructions, and then they did not listen to me when I said I did not want it mailed back to me, so I could "Donate it...." (Its dangerous, why would I?), and THEY PAID POSTAGE AGAIN to send it back to me (if you're are counting, it was shipped 3 times.) The business is managed terribly and there is a lot of wasted money being spent, but no refunds made when the issue isn't due to customer use/error. DO NOT PURCHASE! read more

!Do NOT buy from this company! For one, the brace just doesn't work at all. Then they expect you to return it with not a piece of hair on it... A dog product...it's laughable. I thought I did a good job cleaning it with proof of video and pictures but they claimed otherwise with photos of a hair roller with dog hair on it. They scam you for a 40$ "restocking fee". Do not buy from this company unless you want to pay the restocking fee upfront. The product does not work, it will not fit and then no matter how much you clean the product they will say that you returned it with dog hair. Do not bother as it is a waste of money. The pictures they sent me as proof of returning a dirty brace was not even of the brace I had returned. Do yourself a favor and see all the complaints on better business bureau website. read more

Unfortunately I found out after I bought the product it was not intended to help with our dogs health problem. But, trying it out, it sure looked like it would have been very effective for it's intended purpose. Do not buy this product for your dog! It was supposed to fit my dog and no matter how much I adjusted it it slipped off her knee and bound her up. Once it's been used they will not refund your money even after letting them know that it did not work and telling them it had hair on it they said send it back so I did and they sent it back saying per return policy no refund. I would have not sent it back if this what they were going to do they lied in email. I am out over 200 dollars and brace does not do what it says. They make you think what a great product it is and talk it up but don't believe it. Don't buy it! I also wrote email back with no response and was blown off. They say put material so as not to get hair on it to see fit but once on dog forget refund and dog has to wear it to see if works and once they lay down it comes off and rubs them raw if to tight but yet falls off. I did everything to make this brace work as per video and instructions. It may work On there video but that's it. I even asked for something back and response was telling me about return policy but if it does not work then you get ripped off no matter that it's a bad product. I tried to explain all this and be nice but got shut down and no money back at all. I am writing review to let other consumers not get screwed over. They may respond per there guidelines about hair but if product does not work not there problem. Once on dog forget refund dog hair will not come out.
