Many of the other reviews for this business are very positive, which suggests that others have had…read moregood experiences. However, that was not my experience. My intention is not to harm the business, but people should have honest reviews to make informed decisions when deciding who to bring into their home and give their money to. Additionally, the owner Antonio, should use this experience to learn from and do better. My project was estimated at 3-5 days for approximately 600 sqft, with the kitchen itself being only 6ft by 8ft, if that. The project involved painting kitchen/kitchen cabinets, living room, and hallway. Because of this, the kitchen was unusable and the main living space inaccessible for 10 days. During the project, I experienced multiple no-call/no-show days and very limited and untruthful communication about scheduling or progress. This meant I had to stay in a small bedroom for about 10 days while the work remained incomplete. Also other projects were prioritized during this time, with staff being sent elsewhere while my project remained unfinished, despite the small size of my space and the impact it had on my ability to use my home. My project start date was delayed one day to allow him to complete another project, which I was fine with, however I expected the same respect with my time. There were repeated statements about when the work would be completed that did not match the actual progress. After nine days, due to continued missed appointments and lack of communication, I requested that the cabinet doors be returned and that the project be considered finished. The doors were not returned when requested and it required additional time, unanswered calls, and inconsistent explanations before they were eventually brought back on day 10. At no point was it clearly communicated that the doors were not finished. Instead, messages suggested they were painted the weekend but prior and not delivered due to various reasons such as phone issues, a silent ringer, family obligations, or vehicle problems. On the day the doors were finally returned, delivery was agreed for 10:00 a.m. Messages earlier that morning indicated they were being loaded into the car around 9:20 a.m., but they were not delivered until after 4:00 p.m. Throughout the day there were multiple changing explanations for the delay. A photo sent mid-afternoon showed the cabinet doors being painted and wet. When the doors were finally delivered, they were tacky to the touch, the finish was incomplete with visible chips, drip marks, and surfaces that did not appear to have been properly prepared or sanded. Based on the timing and condition, it is clear they were just painted on this day. The cabinet bases/boxes were never painted and the living space paint was not completed either in these 10 days. My experience reflects a lack of communication, scheduling reliability, and accountability. Greater transparency and respect for clients' time, space, and financial commitments is needed.

Flexibility: I had delays with other contracted work which as a result delayed painting, however Shawn was more than accommodating. Working evenings if required. I felt prioritized at all times. Shawn had begun preliminary painting work on my home, and worked with me to split it up over a couple week span to allow for other contractors to come in. Professionalism/Friendliness: Shawn is extremely professional, and very kind. I am an apprehensive person when it comes to hiring out, in fear of being misled, over charged, or potentially being placed in an uncomfortable situation. With Shawn, this apprehension quickly dwindled away. His quote was his final pricing, and any deviation in price was because I asked him to do additional tasks, and even then he worked with my budget. Cost: Low. Shawn's pricing was on the reasonable to low side compared to other painters in Windsor-Essex. Additionally, Shawn was very transparent and wanted to ensure I was a happy consumer. He was cautious out of kindness on pointing out flaws in drywalling and mudding and offered his advice when I gave him the green light to "tell it to me how it was" straight up. Additional Repairs: 1) We agreed on an hourly price for him to perform additional work, smoothing out the texture in my walls and doing additional patch work prior to priming and painting. Due to budgeting constraint, I asked him to work up to 10 hours at that hourly rate doing those fixes and if anything more was required, he agreed to walk me through and at that point I could determine what else I wanted done that he did not touch yet. AND Shawn tackled the biggest pain points/eye sores that are 100% noticeable and prioritized his time on those, so if we needed to exceed 10 hours it would be on minor, low traffic areas I could live without fixing. I really appreciated this component, because it would have been easy for him to fix the small items and leave larger items that he knew I would need to fix - in order to charge me more, but he did not. 2) I originally had stucco ceilings that looked horrific in the home. I was going to leave it due to budgeting constraints, and due to the type of material it was not a project I could take on myself, ESPECIALLY because this type of stucco often is a result of concealing major cracks and imperfections in ceilings.. and I was concerned about what door I would be opening if I began to scrape this off. Due to Shawn' more than reasonable quote to remove it and repair the ceiling damage, I was able to have smooth ceilings throughout. It made a huge difference. I am so thankful. Ethicalness: Extremely ethical. I am a first time home buyer, female, young, and any parent (including mine) worry about the type of workers I am bringing into my home and working with. My parents and myself will continue to recommend Shawn because he is a really good guy, he does fantastic work, and he gave me advise on what to prioritize with my budget and because of him I achieved my desired result and also stayed within budget. Overall: Please hire Shawn, if you are a parent and it is your child's first home, I promise you he will do fantastic work and pay attention to finer details. He is there to perform a task, and takes pride in how he leave customers feeling. I stayed within budget and the results are incredible. When the first coat of paint went on, my tears and frustration from other first time home nightmares, dwindled away. It is crazy how a coat of paint, and a painter who really cares about the finer details, can bring so much happiness. THANK YOU SHAWN.

Well worth it! Greenleaf's Ryan and Dana designed a space that was attentive to our desired use,…read morethey were patient with our changes, and they employed a terrific team who worked together seamlessly. Every crew member was courteous, neat, and hardworking, and the renovation was completed in 2- 1/2 of the estimated 3-4 months. We are extremely pleased with the quality of the work done by all involved, and we now happily make daily use of a previously avoided space. More: I was the naysayer on this project and I was wrong. My husband wanted to renovate our dreary basement to give me more space for all my hobbies. We had finished the space 30 years ago on the (very) cheap: carpeted exercise room, a tiny office, a bathroom with a shower no one used, and a crammed unfinished laundry room that also contained a former coal bin lined with shelving. An unfinished cold storage room behind the office held old paint and garden supplies. The spaces were functional, but they were dingy, worn, uninviting, and, consequently, not often used. The laundry room was kind of creepy. I couldn't imagine that improving our small, low-ceilinged space would justify what remodels cost these days, but Ryan and Dana helped us see the possibilities. While keeping the price down, they created a large office/art/sewing room with two long built-in desks, each with wonderful deep drawers, and made the laundry/utility area more usable by dismantling the coal bin and painting the walls and floor. They upgraded the quality of the entire basement with a beautiful banister, vinyl wood flooring, better lighting, solid wood doors, and lovely bathroom fixtures. AND they added a window in the office for a bit of natural light. What a difference! We actually exercise in the exercise room, and the other spaces are just a delight. Now it feels more like a "lower level" than a basement. Greenleaf transformed our basement into a wonderful extension of our home's living areas. We highly recommend Ryan, Dana, right-hand-man Todd, and the entire Greenleaf team.

When he asked for our budget, we initially said that we did not know what it should cost, as we assumed there would be significant variability depending on materials used. He offered no more information, so we said $7k, but that we had plenty of leeway, depending on what was proposed. He gave no indication of whether or not this was reasonable, but did say that he would have the designer he works with contact us. Fast forward 2 weeks with no contact, my wife called him to inquire about the designer and estimate. He responded that our budget wasn't high enough, and that it wouldn't be a good fit. If that was the case, he could have told us that when we threw out the $7k. He could have provided some expertise and guidance when we initially said that we didn't know what it should cost. He could have called back or emailed us that he wasn't going to do any work for us. Basically, he could have done many things that are more professional than what he did.

We hired Larry for a kitchen remodel and it seemed like he had good reviews. We had another…read morecontractor out to the house who was very knowledgeable and professional, but only hired Larry because the quote came in lower. Now we seriously regret it. His work was sub-standard at best. His quote was at 3,500 originally, for a tiny kitchen, but when it was time to write the check we were charged an extra $650 in materials. We purchased all of the materials except some wood trim. I don't think mud, and screws, and a little bit of trim warrants $650, an extra charge that we were not informed about in advance, or an itemized list of what materials that he used to justify the extra costs. If screws, mud, and some wood trim warrants a $650 charge he must base his prices on what the government charges people which is seriously over inflated and ridiculous! I asked simple advice during the cabinet install and his excuse quoting him was " I'm a contractor not a designer". I never asked him to design our kitchen. The other contractor came out and actually designed the kitchen even before we hired him. We had a few cabinets that needed to be returned to Home Depot, which all contractors do. His excuse was " my truck is full I can't help you". Also our refrigerator was moved around the kitchen and both handles are now broken, possibly leaving us with having to replace it. The wheels on the refrigerator suddenly stopped turning because there was so much debris under them they seized up because of the lousy clean up of the floor was. Larry installed the new sink, and all new sinks come with garbage disposal covers, and he didn't even look for it in the box, therefore it was not installed leaving us to get someone else to install it. So I found out his honesty level is extremely poor, his work is cheaply done, and his attitude is unprofessional at best. His personality is over inflated just like his material costs! I only paid it because we were so fed up at that point with all of this mess, we just wanted to get rid of him! I asked him how much a tiny backsplash would be , just for my own curiosity and entertainment, and he came in at $2,500! He seriously thought I would even consider that after all the happened! Well, we cheated out hiring a contractor who did sub-standard work and broke our refrigerator handles, and left gouges in our new cabinets, and with a terrible attitude, besides other things. Never do that again! It was well worth hiring the other contractor, who would have done everything for us. We are seniors and my husband has Parkinson's and other health issues which he clearly seen. I would never, ever recommend him to anyone! One star is actually too good for him! Do yourself a favor, do your due diligence when hiring a contractor!
