On August 1,2025 I was arrested on an old charge "simple criminal damage to property" dating back from January of 2022 , where a warrant was issued out for my arrest . I have had jobs and background checks since then , and I never knew that a warrant was issued out for my arrest ; until August 1,2025 where I went to get a background check for Orleans Parish ; where I was also arrested on a charge that statue of limitation had expired . It's stated by law in the state of Louisiana that the statue of limitations for simple criminal damage to property is 2 years . I was arrested on August 1,2025 , when the warrant was issued for January 2022 . When I saw Judge Johnathan Friedman at Magistrate court on Saturday August 2,2025 he informed me that he could not prosecute me for an old charge , when the statue of limitations has expired . I lost 2 jobs . I recently applied at Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office ; and was supposed to attend a physical for the Sheriff's department on August 2,2025 I missed due to me being incarcerated . Also at Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office where I was incarcerated , upon my release I was asked to sign papers stating that I received all of my belongings . They would not let me inventory my items before signing that document stating I had received everything, once I was able to open the envelope my $40 dollars in cash that was sent thru cash app earlier ,was not in my property. I did not receive my items from the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Department until after I signed the papers stating I received all of my items . When I finally received my items only after signing papers that I received everything back , my $40 in cash were missing ! When I looked on the paper I signed stating I received all of my items , I saw everything on the documents except my $40 in cash . When I asked the Sheriff's department for my money they told me to come back another time ! As of right now , I'm active seeking out employment because I lost 2 jobs due to being incarcerated.
