Jefferson Parish Correctional Center (JPCC)…read more SO, on August second realized I was having an awful time with the law. Now in no way am I a criminal. Nor am I perfect, but I'm a mom, I'm trying, don't do drugs, or drink, enough about me i messed up and the time and process was not in any way the problem. It was the keeping of the facility. The entire place smells like shit when you come in the building, then they search you. Then to be thrown in a room with 30 people and on drugs throwing up, poop all over the ceiling in one of the women holding tank, piss on the walls, from ceiling to floor in the bathroom. Its just scrawling in bacteria. I'm pregnant and sitting in a room filled with dirty women who are all on the lady time of the month no trash bags, toilets that don't flush. Laying on mats that are at least 20 years old, on metal beds willed with funk, not swept or mopped in who knows how long. I can keep going the house keeping the but inmate, who should be cleaning, just sits around eating cookies, old af. The correctional officers are down rite rude, after being away from my family and stressed because something that was basically handled, sat for 7 days in a place full up disgusting experiences annnnndddd sleeping on a top bunk, is it true they put hormones in the juice? I'm gonna go on, but i want to go big with this place. SO inhumane. what is done to people, you hear people screaming and little young dumb "thugs" working in intake. Something serious needs to be done.

this place is a real joke, the correctional officers are rude and when it comes to bonding out…read moresomeone you wait hours and hours and hours till one or two in the morning they dont care about the familes waiting for the loved ones to be released its a hell hole indeed dont go to jail in jefferson parish you and your family will suffer for it.

The last two trips were especially memorable because I had the opportunity to reconnect with a dear friend. The first time, she gave me the ultimate local tour. We put our Mardi Paws on and she whisked me away to all kinds of hidden gems, from tucked-away Germaine Wells Mardi Gras Museum to a quirky carousel bar (yes, if you could find a seat, you could ride on it while enjoying a cocktail or 2) and secret bites that only a true NOLA insider would know The second time, our visit was short but sweet. We shared a delicious, cozy meal at Curious Bistro, the perfect spot to slow down and soak in the city's charm over great food and better conversation. Did you know New Orleans has more historic districts than any other U.S. city? Or that it's home to the world's oldest continuously operating streetcar? It's those layers of history and magic that make this city so unforgettable.

Jambalaya, Gumbo, po boys, alligator, beignets at more places than Cafe Du Monde and the French Market. I love to see the colorful painted houses, two storied homes with stairs and columns. Graveyards so eloquent with tall immortal houses some even taller with sweet faced angels with wings on top. We visited midweek so not much going on. Many shops closed at 5 pm yet in other parts of the city some were open even at 9 pm. The looming tales of vampires and voodoo, ghosts have the element of mystery and wonder. You can quell your curiosity by joining a tour.

I been to this particular location twice for the interview and ceremony and each time was a breeze. The staff and security provided top notch G14 classified security to my family and I each time we visited by making us remove everything from our pockets when entering the location and going through the medal detectors. The interview was a breeze and the worker did a outstanding job with the screening. A couple months later we received the letter for the ceremony and were excited as can be to attend and finally get American Citizenship. The building is located right next to Dave and Busters on the second floor and you will need to take the elevator to the 18th floor. The room was packed with 51 people from 31 different countries awaiting there citizenship. Overall the ceremony was pretty quick and at the end they sing a nice patriotic song name God bless the USA while waving the American Flag. The views are phenomenal looking over New Orleans and the Superdome and Smoothie King adjacent to it. Great staff amd workers but unfortunately I wont return due to the fact we American citizens now!! #Whodat

Turns out that it was originally over railroad tracks and a canal. (Thanks NOPL!) The merge lanes can be short and steep so you have to be careful. But this is an excellent cut through from near the Superdome to Broadmoor/Uptown...just follow Poydras until it ends and then you curve up onto the Overpass. But the real reason you non-NOLA folks might be interested? It affords great views of the city with the Superdome front and center. I've even seen film crews on the Overpass using our beautiful skyline as a backdrop. Their are buslanes on the top of the bridge, but I wouldn't suggest pulling over in them. Instead consider parking at the bottom and walking up. But be careful!

The Broad Street Overpass doesn't probably mean much to the many residents and visitors who pass it…read moredaily. I can see how most drive under or over it without a second thought, but for me, it has a lot of significance. It's a landmark, a treacherous roadway and a place where I witnessed lots of unforgettable things. Landmark - When driving below, this overpass Is right where the I-10 begins and US 90 B ends or vice versa. Why is that important? If you have to call 911 it's good to know your exact location so help can be sent your way. Treacherous Roadway - I normally find myself using this overpass when I'm headed to jail or court. I'm frequently in both due to poor life choices and merging from Earhart on to Broad is one of the most poorly designed on ramps in the area. Even the traffic circle on Airline is safer. Unforgettable - I've witnessed jerkoffs hanging protest banners from this overpass that accomplished nothing more than traffic delays to further their bullshit cause. I don't care how much you want to save Pygmy marmosets in violet, don't mess with my morning commute. I also witnessed a bunch of prisoners up there after Katrina being evacuated. Won't forget that either. But the most disturbing thing I ever saw up there was the time I was a young driver and passed through right after some poor soul had jumped to their death. I still think about that every time I pass under this overpass. So why write this strange and rambling review? Because I can. Plus I think one of the best things about Yelp is that you can review pretty much anything. So get to writing randos.

Never have I ever seen streets flood after a mere thunderstorm to the extent that I was stranded in my car on a neutral ground for 3 hours and then had to wade through disgusting water that was thigh high, due to "the pumps not working." I was merely inconvenienced, true, but the people who lived and/or parked in the area that was not high ground had incredible damage. NOT FAIR TO THEM. So not fair. Did they get a discount on their water bill? I don't think so. We pay a ridiculous amount of taxes in this city that go straight in the pockets of criminals... obviously because we see the salaries and we know what we get in return. The citizens of New Orleans deserve better. I hope Mayor Cantrell can affect change with this shameful agency.
