I hired Sergeant T's Tree Service for a crown reduction on two oak trees and removal of a dead palm…read moreat my rental property, based on a positive experience with them a couple of years prior. Unfortunately, this time around, the service was a complete disappointment, marked by poor communication, substandard workmanship, and highly unprofessional behavior from the owner. From the outset, scheduling was haphazard. After several delays and changes (including switching from a full tree removal back to trimming due to my own plans), the crew showed up unannounced on a Friday in late October, without confirming the date with me in advance. This gave me no opportunity to notify my tenants, who were understandably upset by the sudden intrusion. The job was rushed through in a single day, starting around midday and continuing until nearly 9:30 p.m., which was disruptive and unacceptable for a residential property with occupants. During the work, the crew failed to use ground protection pads--unlike their previous visit--resulting in significant damage to the yard's terrain, including ruts and torn-up grass (or what the owner dismissively called "weeds"). They left a considerable mess behind, with debris scattered, and only partially cleaned up after I raised concerns. When I addressed these issues via text, the owner responded defensively, making excuses about the job's complexity (e.g., heavy logs and machinery constraints) rather than taking responsibility. He did eventually offer a $300 discount off the $1,800 quote, bringing the total to $1,500, but this did little to offset the poor quality and hassle. The situation escalated post-job when I requested a roof inspection to ensure no damage from falling branches. The owner admitted to trespassing on the property without permission--climbing onto the roof to take photos on a Sunday while I was with my family and without notifying me or the tenants. This was a clear violation of privacy and property rights, especially with renters present. In our text exchanges, he made multiple threatening remarks, including warnings to dump the hauled debris back on my property if payment was delayed, filing a lien immediately, and even joking about calling code enforcement on my tenants' business van (which he later claimed was "just kidding"). He also insulted my property maintenance, accused me of trying to "weasel" out of payment, and used sarcastic language like "Are you serious right now?" when I expressed dissatisfaction. Throughout the conversation, the owner's tone was confrontational, dismissive, and laced with personal attacks, such as implying I was "stupid" for not understanding his explanations about equipment. As a firefighter, I appreciated his shared military background initially, but it did not excuse the lack of professionalism. This experience was unsettling and far below the standards expected from a licensed tree service in South Florida. I strongly advise potential customers to look elsewhere. There are many reputable tree companies that prioritize clear communication, quality work, and respect for clients and their properties. I have documentation of the entire interaction, including texts and photos of the damage, should it be needed.

I injured my knee and was no t able to do it, I was referred to EBM by someone. I called and spoke to Elmar, he came out within 30 min of me calling. Very nice man, easy to talk to and he listen to what I wanted done. The following Saturday Elmar came out with his crew, I was nervous cause I'm very picky on how I want my landscaping done! I was amazed how hard they all worked and the job that they did. it was a lot of work( Tree trimming, front and back gardens front and back all clean up, Palm trees all cleaned up and and mulch freshen up. Then all debris carted away. FANTASTIC JOB. Well done Elmar, and Thank you again.

Elmar was the first to come out, that same day as I posted my request, he seemed very knowledgeable and fair so I agreed to go with him. He and his crew was able to do the job today, just four days after my request. I could not be happier with the job they did. Every branch on the mahogany and oak trees were roped off, cut and lowered to the ground. This procedure is time consuming but very important to me as I have a fully landscaped backyard and didn't want any of it damaged. After everything was trimmed, it was all cleaned up by the crew and put in the tree shredder. All loose debris was picked up or blown clean. I highly recommend Elmar and his crew!!

Trouble was, the sprinkler is still not working, which he blamed on the program. He promised to come fix the problem. He said 9 am, then I called him 4 hours later. He says I'll be there in an hour. I call 3 hrs later, he's 2 hours away. I then call him out on his workmanship quality and quality of communication. So he gets angry and decides he will refund me and take his part back. I say ok. He never shows up. Sunday passes, so I call him this Monday morning. He says he'll be here in an hour. No show. It's pretty clear that he's hoping I'll go away and that Ralph is someone with low integrity. UPDATE: I didn't speak to you in a bad way, I merely pointed out that the sprinkler is in the same shape, with or without your part. You know what's disrespectful? Telling people you will be somewhere and then not show up. Taking payment for a half- way job. Calling your customer disrespectful, when you have poor customer service. Good luck with your business and don't worry, the feeling is mutual. I found a good company to finish your job.
