The members get to exhibit their artwork there, and when it's sold, get to keep higher percentage of the sale than if they sold it through a regular Gallery. If you're an Art buyer or collector, you also win because you don't have to deal with a middleman and so the prices of the artworks are more reasonable. This Gallery is located on Campbell Ave, in front of the Center in the Square, in one of the most desired storefront areas in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. It has a reasonable size long space where different Art medium are exhibited such as paintings, photographs, sculptures, and some creative mediums, just to name a few. I had an opportunity to meet with some of the artists who are members and have their work exhibited there and they were so friendly and welcoming, talking to me about the Gallery and answering all my questions. I love art. Took several electives in Art History while in College. My most prestigious painting that I have ever had was an oil painting by Mary K. Trotter, an American artist who studied in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts before moving to Paris. I bought it at an Art Gallery in Beacon Hill, Boston, and even had to put it in lay away to be able to afford it. This Gallery is the perfect place for those who love art to purchase their first artwork to exhibit in the living room of their home, or maybe even to begin their own Art collection. If you're an artist, either full time, or part-time, you can consider joining this Coop Gallery and selling some of your art. Whatever you do, I would highly recommend that you visit this Gallery and view the wonderful artworks exhibited there.

It is a fine arts gallery and boutique that always is on the lookout for the finest quality and selection of original paintings, sculptures, art glass, jewelry, and specialty gifts by local and regional artists. Since I moved to Roanoke, I have always been very impressed by the quality of works they carry. The gallery has two large well lit display windows up front and is located in a prime location downtown. People going to or coming from restaurants in the area or other places like the Mill Mountain Theatre oftentimes pass by it on the way to their destination and are amazed by the artworks they see in the windows, just like I am. When I went to visit the gallery this Wednesday afternoon, a very friendly and knowledgeable lady greeted and welcomed me and explained to me the story of how they were able to get this key location to move their gallery to. I told her how important art has always been in my life and in the lives of many in our community. This is an ideal place for local and regional artists to introduce their artwork. They can do so by making an appointment to introduce themselves to the Art Gallery Manager and showing their portfolio and some of their artworks. It is also a wonderful place for members of our community and visitors passing y to acquire beautiful artworks to decorate their homes or to expand their art collection. I remember the joy it gave me when, while living in Boston, I visited an Art Gallery and acquired my most valuable painting by the American Artist who also lived in Paris, Mary K. Trotter. I highly recommend this Gallery to all living in or visiting Roanoke. Stop by and view the artwork they have at the moment. Enjoy doing so and who knows, you might find that special piece of art that you can take home with you and that will bring you joy throughout the years as well as all those who visit and admire it.

Today I decided to go visit and experience first hand the magic behind this theatre that besides showing movies and holding special events, it has and will always be the heart of this community, and as I was able to see and experience for myself offers a unique movie going experience. When I first arrived, I was fascinated with the magnificent restoration of this Historic Art Deco Architectural building. Little did I know that I was about to experience one of the best movie going experiences of a lifetime. For I discovered that a local community movie theatre is more than just a place to go watch a movie and eat popcorn. It is a place to feel the pulse of fervent community in action. At the ticket booth I was greeted by a young lady and asked to go inside to purchase my ticket because her computer was not working as it should. So I proceeded to do so and walked over to the concession stand where a lady greeted me with a warm welcome and not only sold me the ticket but after I asked her about the theatre, she gave me a personal description of key points of its structure as well as other activities that took place here. Among other things she told me about the Art Gallery on the second floor, the different viewing rooms and the two owls located in the main one, and other events and activities that they have year round including the fundraisers. Also, tonight they were having the Rocky Horror Picture Show showcased by the Tolls of Madness Troupe from Virginia Tech. The cast will dress like the ionic characters and encourage audience participation through callback lilines aimed at the screen and throwing various props as called for by the film. Needless to say the two shows for tonight were sold out. What an exciting event here in this community movie theatre in the Star City of Roanoke! One could see the excitement and enthusiasm of all the theatre employees, from the ones behind the concession stand selling the popcorn to the ones finishing putting up some light up the stairs to the second floor as part of the Halloween decorations. Inside the main viewing room I was impressed with natural red brick walls and the two owls. The chairs even though they weren't as reclinable as some of the ones in new modern theatres, they made you feel at home, maybe because they reminded me of the many time I went to my hometown movie theatre before many of them have become extinct due to lack of creative management and competition from the big new modern ones. Last time I went to one of those the room temperature was so hot to the point of being uncomfortable. But here, in this cozy and warm not so little theatre, the air-condition worked just fine and contributed to the excellent movie watching experience. As I was leaving there was a crowd of people outside waiting to come in for the Rocky Horror Picture Show; and I thought to myself: Now I know and have experienced the magic behind the Grandin Theatre and wish everyone who reads my review can do the same.

I had the privprivilege of visiting the Art Gallery today and was given a warm welcome by the owner/manager himself, Dorsey Taylor. For over 15 years he has ran and expanded this art gallery, selling only originals from estates, their collection, and a few select artists, and now use Denise Cormany as their frame designer and framer. It is an amazing work how he has restored and improved the different spaces where the gallery is housed, simply with new walls painted white, treating and polishing the original hardwood floors, and installing a new lighting system that brings out the beauty of all the artworks in exhibition there. Most beautiful items, I might say, of all sizes, styles, and forms. The works of arts there are very appropriate for decorating an entire house or a condominium. Their sized fluctuate from miniature etching or paintings to gigantic size ones that could be used to decorate corporate buildings or majestic historic houses of the Old South West or South Roanoke. But if all these artworks are very valuable, even more valuable is the owner himself for his vibrant personanity, all the work he does in the community, too many to name, and his great contribution of the Arts to the Star City of Roanoke. I highly recommend this Art Gallery to all those reading my review and viewing my photographs accompanying it. Stop by to enjoy the current artworks being exhibited there now, come to an opening of one of their new exhibits, search their website and discover the many artists and their artworks available, bring one home and discover the joy that art can bring. After having lived in Boston for many years, I'll never forget when I was starting out collecting a painting from an Amarican Painter, Mary K. Trotter, that had just arrived to one of their nicest art galleries, I liked it so much that they put it on layaway for me so I could afford it. But after I had paid it off, I considered it priceless, and it brought great joy to me and all those who visited and were able to see and appreciate it.
