- Sewer gas smell filling the room in the middle of the night - Mattress too soft - Perfume all over sheets and pillowcases - Green light on ceiling flashing every 5 seconds - Blackout curtains but they don't close the last few inches - Constantly running loud fan in bathroom - Coffeemaker doesn't work - Loud train, (from either side of hotel) ice machine, elevator - asked for a local area walking Map - given one but without marking where hotel is, which was not evident - smelly Mop water bucket sitting in lobby the whole first night - Parking situation unclear - we'll be charged unless we park on the side or front - but do we need to notify someone that we didn't park in back?... - Fleas in both beds - and front desk just says 'some guests have more sensitive skin' - yes - sensitive to getting bit and having lots of little bugs jumping and crawling on you

Upon arrival and entering the hotel, we were greeted and offered water. It was the perfect thoughtful gesture when you get off the road as travelers are usually thirsty. This was appreciated. I also enjoyed the aesthetics of the hotel and the downtown location is close to everything. There was long hair strands on the shower floor that made me uncomfortable about the cleaning of the property. There was also rust or a stain on shower floor as well. I did bring Lysol wipes so wiped down everything. I also ordered a drink in the restaurant, a margarita, and there was something in my drink and I had to send it back. The property also didn't have room service but this may not be expected at a boutique hotel. Lastly, I didn't enjoy getting a text the day of check out about what time I was going to check out. The text came in at 8:02 am which is quite early considering check out is at 11am. It almost like the hotel is saying time to go which I know what time check out is and this message was off putting in my opinion. I did enjoy my stay overall but due to some of the challenges I experience, I am unsure if I would stay again.

Enjoyed this hotel for a Staycation with friends and it was excellent! Very modern, clean and a great layout. We enjoyed dinner at the connected restaurant, Show Pony, and it was delicious. When then enjoyed time at the bar to end the evening, and headed to our beautiful room. We really enjoyed the set up of enjoying multiple spaces on the property throughout the evening, while never having to leave the warmth of building during a cold winter KC night. Really great location to stay for KC current and Chiefs games, or just exploring the city as we were. Staff were amazing and friendly. We grabbed to go breakfast burritos on our way out in the morning truly making this experience perfect!

If you are visiting Kansas City and need a hotel or simply a local looking for a staycation, look no further than this stunning hotel located right next to the Berkley Riverfront. At the Origin Hotel in Kansas City, you can expect clean and beautiful rooms, friendly service, a wonderful onsite restaurant (Show Pony), a full-bar with great vibes, and more. This hotel is within walking distance from the paved Berkley Riverfront Trail as well as the KC River Market area. I would highly recommend eating at the Show Pony while you are staying at the Origin. This upscale, delicious restaurant will have you craving to return. Save this hotel to your list of spots to stay in Kansas City!

It's super easy to get around, from City Market to Country Club and everywhere in between. I stayed for a business conference at the convention center. The skybridge connection is great and makes it easy to go back and forth. The room was clean and modern, with a nice desk area to get work done at. The hotel was busy with football fans and convention goers, but the staff did a great job keeping everything moving. I also love the bar/restaurant options within the hotel. I'd be happy to stay here again and will be on the lookout for Loews hotels at other destinations going forward!

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are lovely, and there is a beautiful bar area, a full service restaurant and a great grab-and-go bakery. It is also connected directly to the convention center, which was perfect during an August heat wave. It's within walking distance of several other great hotels, restaurants and places to relax after a long workday. On my first night, I missed the room-service deadline and needed some caffeine to stay up late working on a project. A very sweet person in Guest Services somehow arranged for someone to bring a few Cokes to my room well after 11 p.m. I was so appreciative. I do wish they had vending machines on the guest floors. I wouldn't even mind paying the exorbitant hotel price. I'm a caffeine addict who doesn't drink coffee, so I need my morning soda! I loved Red Wheat Baking Co. downstairs. The sandwiches and hamburgers were excellent, and it was so easy to run in and grab a quick bite. We also ate at The Stilwell, and it was wonderful. Our server recommended a delicious entrée and appetizers that really hit the spot after a long day at the convention. The housekeeping staff was wonderful, the front-desk staff was great, and they were even nice after the second time I lost my room key! Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I'm already looking for another excuse to visit Kansas City and stay at this beautiful hotel again.

I did appreciate that they comped a meal for everyone staying here through that, even though a fire alarm was totally out of their control. The rooms have plenty of character, and the valets work really hard here. They bring your car up super fast. The staff at the restaurant is super friendly, and they're good with kids too. It is important to note that the bar area comes to life on weekend nights (you have to walk by it to get to your room), but kids need to see what adults are like after the sun goes down at some point in their lives. But there is an art display on the ground floor of the hotel, so if your kids cannot resist touching something like that, this might not be the place for you. If you're visiting KC, you'd be lucky to stay at the Crossroads.

We pulled directly into the garage which is under the hotel. There is a door to the hotel in the garage and a doorbell where the staff can buzz you in to a secure elevator lobby. Th elevator will bring you up to check-in desk which is modern and spacious. The front desk attendant was very professional and efficient. Our room was spacious, included a couch, desk, closet, kitchenette with dishes, microwave, dishwasher, full refrigerator, stovetop and coffeemaker. The bathroom was clean and was stocked well. Most importantly the bed and pillows were very comfortable! The hotel does allow pets so we did have a few on our floor and we could hear them while walking down the hallway but not once we closed the door to our room. In the morning they provide a free breakfast in the lobby with a nice dining area. It's premade eggs, sausage, breads, etc. Breakfast is decent. The lobby also has a nice lounge/work area. We were not there long enough to check out the gym, pool or other amenities so I cannot comment on those items but from our experience, we enjoyed our stay. Their in-room televisions are also Apple hostile, making it nearly impossible to do what are now basics like using Netflix. The front desk initially told me "you'll have to change some settings but I'm not an expert." No friend, clearly you are neither an expert in simple technology nor in customer service. The use an app for their $42 per night valet. It stopped working after the first day. I'd have to call down, wait for someone to answer the phone, then finally have them ask the valet to bring the car. Our last day the manager himself assured me he'd get it done. He did not. Chalice the weekday bartender is great. The food is highly mediocre. Skip it & door dash or walk somewhere instead. The weekend bartender makes you loudly announce both your room number and last name so he can write it on the check; it's both vaguely offensive & a huge security risk for a woman traveling. There are other properties in Kansas City that are probably better choices. The online photos also exaggerate the size & grandeur of the lobby areas.

If you're looking for a hotel that won't add stress to your wedding weekend, look elsewhere. We…read morebooked Hotel KC because our friend's wedding was hosted there, and since we were driving up from Texas, we wanted to make things easier by staying at the venue. My boyfriend was one of the groomsmen, so his weekend was already packed. We checked into the hotel on Friday so we could help the bride and groom if needed. When we got to our room, I noticed the door didn't close all the way. I'm usually pretty cautious about hotels and Airbnbs, so I asked the front desk to fix it right away. My boyfriend had to leave for the rehearsal shortly after dropping off our luggage. A maintenance worker came quickly, but after 45 minutes, he removed the metal latch plate on the doorframe so the door would shut. I told him that didn't seem right and completely defeated the purpose of the lock, but he didn't speak English and was using Google Translate. He said it was a temporary fix and that the front desk would assist us later. The door did close, but it felt like anyone could easily break in. Since we had a busy schedule, we left for the rehearsal dinner around 6. After dinner, we returned and asked the front desk whether the door would be properly fixed that night or if we could switch rooms. The front desk agent said they had multiple weddings that weekend, so all rooms were booked and nothing was available. She also said, "Our hotel is very safe, nothing happens." That's not something you want to hear as a guest. If I'm paying for a room, I expect to feel safe, not wonder if I'll be the first to experience a problem, especially since I had multiple expensive camera gear with me. We insisted on having the door fixed before bed, so they sent an "engineer" upstairs. When we explained the issue, he told my boyfriend that the metal piece on the doorframe was just for "aesthetics." At that point, my boyfriend was pissed. He grabbed the room key and a plastic spoon, propped the door open in front of the engineer, and demonstrated the issue. The engineer ended up calling two more maintenance workers and told us to leave for our event while they worked on it. We had to go downstairs for a late-night meet-and-greet, so they stayed to fix the door... again. When we came back around 11:30 PM, someone was still working on it. They reinstalled the metal plate and told me to slam the door hard for it to close. We had to do it multiple times, at midnight, while our neighbors were sleeping. He said it was the best they could do since no other rooms were available. We were exhausted and just went to bed. Saturday morning, the day of the wedding, my boyfriend left at 8 AM for suit fitting and to get ready with the groom. He asked me to check with the front desk, and they said we could switch rooms, but not until around 3 PM (normal check-in time). I reminded them that the wedding would already be happening then, and they apologized for the inconvenience. They sent yet another maintenance worker around 9 AM, this time with a drill, loudly working on the door and frame. I couldn't stay in the room with that noise (video), so I ended up spending time in the groom's suite. It was frustrating to pay for a hotel and barely have any time to relax in the room. There were constantly maintenance workers coming in and out, and I never felt safe being there alone. They finally moved us to a new room at 1 PM, right in the middle of the bridal party photos around the hotel. I couldn't carry all our luggage myself, so my boyfriend had to help me while wearing his groomsman suit. After everything, the hotel never apologized for the inconvenience or offered any kind of compensation. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with their service. I love how this is a prehistoric building and it had artifacts and history all over the building. The rooms were so nice as well. This location is right in the heart of everything you can explore by just walking around as we did. I ran into two lovely employees here Anita and Pablo, they constantly attended to my needs and they were so sweet, funny and accommodating they made my stay extra pleasant. Whenever I had a question no problem they answered right away. They just had amazing hospitality and I appreciate it so much. They really made my stay much more pleasant because I would chat with them and they would help me around the city and they made me laugh so much. Hard to tell sometimes if this is a hotel or a modern art gallery. - Building definitely feels repurposed but in a good way. Architecture works (this can cut both ways however) - Staff was very accommodating to my needs. Even did an easier room change without my asking - Nice bar area. Ray the bartender was good conversation. Cons: - The parking is definitely concern. Valet service necessary or street parking is a dice roll. Runs an additional $24 - One of the bigger downsides is you can really hear the street if you're on that side of the building. If you're a light sleeper, it will be an issue. - Not the flashiest hotel in the area. Shorter building and not as great views (nit pick) - $18 for a beer and one mixed drink. Ouch!! I flushed it down the toilet, then called the front desk to a manager about it. I talked with Mel. He offered to move us to another room, which would not have been as nice as our suite. I declined as I didn't want a downgrade in our room. I asked him to make sure that housekeeping did a thorough cleaning the next day. The next morning I stopped at the front desk and talked with Delaney about the cockroach, and other issues. The lounge breakfast was not kept up. It took over 30 minutes to restock the french toast. The pool towels were not stocked when I visited the pool, and had not been for several hours from talking with others at the pool. We got towels from the locker rooms.
