This little outfit is a 100% halal Chinese restaurant that on top of the Chinese dishes, also does the typical fast food chicken joint stuff - i.e. pizzas, fried chicken, and grilled baby chicken.
For this review, I'll ignore those aspects of this shop. I only go here for Chinese food, so cant comment on the fried chicken type food.
First off, its located near East Ham Station, has a few seats downstairs, and an upstairs dining room equipped with a large plasma TV that usually has bollywood films running (dont watch anything of that type). The seats and table are cheap and essentially fast food dining furniture. But the prices are excellent as is the food, so furniture can be overlooked, although I have knocked 1 star off because they should really get better tables/seats (wooden) if they want to make the experience even better.
Onto the Chinese food. As mentioned, the menu is 100% halal, and has no pork or alcohol on it, therefore if youre muslim you dont have to worry about unhalal through contamination. They do the entire range of standard Chinese takeaway food. And they do it excellently.
The kitchen is open and you can see the chefs cooking if you stand slightly to the side of the fried chicken type cage. The Chinese food is cooked by Chinese chefs, about 3-4 of them working in a row, and theyre extremely fast and good to watch.
The food is well priced, and every time ive had it, its been excellent. The service speed is standard (5-10 minutes), and the portions are pretty large and will comfortably fill a normal to large person. The main ingredients are all excellent and come in generous servings - king prawns are big, the lamb/beef/chicken is always very succulent and soft, and their vegetables are crunchy or soft depending on the type. Not a fan of squid, but those who eat it say they do an excellent salt/pepper style battered squid.
The noodles are very good, only slightly greasy, however other than £20 restaurants in central london its hard to find Chinese restaurants that do chow mein etc with no grease. Overall, the noodles are extremely well cooked, well flavoured, not over spiced, and have generous servings of vegetables and the main ingredient.
As a recommendation, I would go for the oriental house special fried rice. Its egg fried rice with beef/lamb, chicken, king prawns, squid, and mixed vegetables, and is a cracking meal.
They do home delivery, however I stopped doing that with them as they can be a bit slow and once or twice have mixed up the orders. read more
