I stumbled into this rustic looking store to find hoisin sauce and sesame oil. I don't know how I managed to get lost in this small store. However I was overwhelmed by the boxes and empty wrapping. There was a funky smell in the store and I couldn't find my way around. I was lost and some packages were dusty. Not the best place to buy anything. I am quite surprised to see no one has the idea of a lovely indian grocery store keeps different Indian vegetables, variety of all the spices, curry pastes, Indian Paneer , variety of poppadums...Hmm yummy and lot more to explore. As an Indian chef, I would like to highly recommend this store where I buy all my groceries from. Those who love to cook curry and try indian cuisine, this is a best place to buy the ingredients at so reasonable cost. Fresh coriander leaves or mint will cost 70 cents a bunch. Yess crazy isn't it? Normally if you go a regular store like Rewe, Edeka etc. a few sprigs bunch will cost u around 3€. If you are experimenting with the Indian food and don't want to buy the 1/2 kg packets of spices, here is the deal. You can buy all variety of small packets of spices for about 1.50€ each. Isn't that great! Ambience is so nice. Right in the city center and accessible through public transport tram no 20, 21 and get down at Karlstrasse. Just 50 meters from there. Right opposite Kare( furnishing store). Try it and keep loving and cooking indian cuisines ;-)

They have a ton of fresh vegetables at great prices, a ton of turkish groceries and they have a fresh meat and fish counter. They also have a Turkish bakery with lots of beautiful looking breads and sweets like Baklava and so on. If you are planning a party and need things in bigger quantities there is a good chance you will find it here. Big tubs of olives, yogurts and so on. Well this shop has it all and owned by a couple, he is British and she is German. They started the shop four years ago as they were struggling to find British products in Munich. The selection is extensive and they have much more food items that the other shop in Haidhausen called Pommeroy. The shop is also well laid out and the choices are plenty. Everything from cereal to marmite and Cadbury chocolates, you can find here. They have various items you need to make a classic British meal and roast dinner from gravy, oxo cubes, stuffing and so on. They also have a wide range of biscuits and crackers and a whole lot of British drinks and cordials. They have a selection of British souvenirs and tea sets and a good selection of British teas. Definitely the place to go for classic British groceries. The prices are not bad (more expensive than the uk) and it's not far out of the city centre. Worth a trip to this shop. I am sure I will be back again plenty of times in the future :-)

I am Romanian. This is the only shop in town that sells the amazing Romanian wines, world wide…read moreawarded like Cotnari and Murfatlar brands and many others available. If it would be only for that alone, I would give them 5 stars. Besides the wines you can find quite an interesting amont of Romanian products: Borsec water, Eugenia, pufuleti, zacusca, castraveti murati, Cremsnit, malai, mici, mezeluri de Sibiu sau Sinaia, branza, sos de usturoi, cascaval etc. It's worth having a look if you're searching for Romanian products in Munich. The shop has Russian speaking people and the profile of the shop is not Romanian, it's actually Eastern European with a big accent on Russian things. Fortunately for me, they sport the good Romanian products as well :) I also love their veggies and fruits section, it looks organic and locally supplied most of them like in the local markets that we have in Romania and not in the supermarket standard kind of way. Not all are fresh always from what I saw, but that's why you have your eyes with you, you can see which one is worth buying and which not, but from what I bought until now, the taste is far better than the supermarket standard veggies and the prices are not as high as the Viktualienmarket. The place is big and supports many products from Eastern Europe. In front of the place you can find also some Russian kind of grill in a fast food kind of setting. My biggest issue is that it is rather far for me, 3 tram stations from Ostbahnhof, exactly in the opposite side of the town compared to where I live. Also, you can find people speaking in Russian and German...but if you want to speak in English it's hard to find someone at the counter that can speak English. Fortunately I got along with my German, because Russian is unknown to me. And the place where you go to pay is a bit crowded, but this is in favour of the rest of the shop which is quite big and spacious. If you want to get an Eastern European flavour in Munich, this is the place where you should do your shoppings. But be aware that because all are imported, the prices are higher for some of the products that can be found easily in local supermarkets as well. However, when you talk about things that cannot be found elsewhere in Munich, it's worth putting your money down and buying from them.

Whereas I was always treated well in local german stores, this visit to the Indian store gave me a rude shock. The surprise didnt end there- the maggi that I bought from this store was priced in INR and clearly marked as " only for sale in India, Nepal and Bhutan". Clearly not ethical business practices i suppose! Perhaps the person at the store needs to do some soul searching to understand if this is how he wants India to be perceived. Even worse, he didnt even give me a bill to understand how the cost was itemized. Never going back!
