The meat was standard fare (the best Döner meat award goes to the place in the Karlsruhe train station) and the spicy bit was a sauce instead of the usual powder. My daughter and I chose to eat at the restaurant instead of in the car. We took a table outside under the awning. Terrific location, very relaxing, not too much vehicle traffic but tons of cyclists (it is Bonn, after all). There are a few parking spots on the side of the building but there's on-street parking just past the place on the right by a church. Staff was very nice, spoke/understood English well enough that I got what I wanted and they got the right amount of money.

Gözlemes, stuffed with spinach, cheese or potato, are big in portion and tasty, too. I find Nazar's böreks very oily but they still taste OK considering the price/performance ratio. The downside of Nazar is that the staff is neither kind nor friendly in my opinion. For these reasons, I always prefer to get my simits, gözlemes or böreks to-go to avoid the bad aura of the place and its staff. I strongly recommend all to do the same to enjoy the taste of those lovely pastries. :)

From the outside, Dino Imbiss looks like your typical fast food deli in Bonn: a few tables, a big…read moreglass display case, and a menu that includes pizza, pasta, döner, falafel, Turkish pizza, and Schnitzel. So what sets them apart from the rest? Simple: the pizza. For me, this has been the hands-down best Imbiss-pizza I've had in Bonn or pretty much anywhere else, too, for that matter. The dough is pre-made, but is hand-stretched to the pan for each order. The crust is a smidgen thicker than you'll find in most places in Bonn, which (for an American), is a good thing. I'm not a fan of tomato sauce on pizza - yes, that's sacrilege, I know - but the sauce at Dino Imbiss is present, yet not overpowering. Best of all, the amount of cheese and other toppings on the pizza are always generous. I highly recommend the margherita pizza with Schafskäse added. Lecker!

Botan is a small Turkish/Kurdish Imbiss in Poppelsdorf, right across Poppelsdorfer Schloss and by…read morethe bus stop Am Botanischen Garten. Even though the place is always tight, hot and claustrophobic inside, it has very nice "Biergarten-like" seats outside. You can also watch the soccer games on a large flat screen TV inside, though you should expect to feel like packed-sardines on such occasions, especially at weekends. :) In terms of food, it is THE BEST place to have falafel, be it a dürüm or sandwich. I think its döner, which I believe is not 100% Kalbfleisch but mixture of turkey and calf, is not the best in town but still edible with the tasty sauces Botan offers. Same applies to lahmacuns; they taste good but there is always little amount of meat on top and the dough is never crispy but edible with condiments and sauces. They also serve pizzas, böreks and pommes but I have never tried any of those. Even though the number of condiments is limited and the quality of them is questionable from the sloppy cuts, Botan serves THE BEST home-made hot sauce in town, along with home-made (and very thick and garlicky) tzatziki and thick, sweet cocktail sauce. I even witnessed one old German couple coming to Botan just to ask for one bowl of that hot sauce, pro-bono. :) Also, the owner and the staff are very friendly guys who always insist you to have a cup of tea with them if they are not busy of course. :) Overall, I strongly recommend Botan for those (especially students) who aim to get full with tasty (and often or inevitably garlicky) food for a very reasonable price. I believe sitting outside or getting your food to-go will double the pleasure you get out of your food. :)
