Not satisfied The price is affordable but that is also…read morereflected in the quality of the course and the administrative staff. They have sneaky fees that when asked where it is stated on their webpage, they avoid the answer. You also have to send your email multiple times because they typically answer half of the questions. Also they allow the instructors to select the books and the books are terrible. Like if you try to work outside of the class lessons, you are lost. The structure of the class was suuuuper slow. I got to where I brought other work to do at the same time because it was at such a snails pace. I have taken other language courses where there was MUCH more interaction among students, even online. When I asked about a refund, they made it clear that you have to request in the first week of the course. I found that a bit tough because I think most people are hopeful it will get better. Soooo it feels like they tell you it's money back guaranteed but create a system where it's difficult for the consumer to comply. Furthermore, they provide you "options" so that "you are satisfied" but the option to transfer to another course isn't realistic because every instructor uses a different book. Or they offer to let you join a different class in the following month but you have to pay a fee to do that. I didn't want to chance paying more money to have a repeat experience. Furthermore, the month offered isn't compatible with other life stuff, but I was not offered to select a month that is more suitable, hence providing options that aren't doable to say that you provided options of "good will" (they bolded "good will" multiple times in their email). So I guess it depends on what you want, something cheap and you may learn something, or higher quality, probably more expensive but will most likely learn more than a few things.

This is My first school in Berlin, literally. I spent about 8 months here. It took me awhile, but…read morefinally found the time to write a review for this. The first six months was the Integration course plus orientation course. At the beginning 1-2 months was the difficult, it not only about the study, also about adjusting the new language and teaching style here. it does make people quite frustrating. Well, Every beginning is difficult though. My teacher since the the beginning to the whole course end, never really spoke other languages but German. Which is good. it was difficult to understand at the beginning, but it does help me to improve my listening and speaking so much faster. I remember i was really angry couple times about the school, the classmate or the teaching method. but I do find my way and get used to the way how thing works there. Even we got the substitute teacher sometime, my main teacher was good. I considered myself quite lucky. In the end, I actually have a really good time and all my friends here was really surprise how my german could improve so much is such a short time. Something I have to say it, I also have some good friends their job are teaching. I do know how much to difficult to teaching an adult than a kid. Most of the time adult has too much pride and too rely on the teacher. As a student should find the way in balance, see what is the really important thing, and made the right call. Of course, The teacher is also the problem. sometime when the methods really doesn't fit you, better just switch to others, instead of waiting. One other thing i have to mention from my own experience. Most of the students come here just for study, but it doesn't mean everyone will be nice and open minded. Some of them bring their own discrimination to this country and bully other students. This school is really stand up for students that who bully and prejudiced. They really care about this. Some schools even they noticed the problem will simply ignore it. For me, beside teachers and students, also the school environment is a really important part of the study. The last two month, I took the B2 lever class. Went to different class. It was really different. The atmosphere is not as good as before. And I also met one teacher really arrogant and like mocking mistakes of students. Maybe it wasn't suppose to mean that way, but it does made me feel like this. I didn't like the methods of that teacher so i did switch my class and found the teacher with the methods that fit me better. The thing is I think most the schools are the same. There are good teachers or bad teachers, just like people, they are also different, people got different definitions about good and bad. It really hard to just judge something through reading. After all, it's really depend on what kind of school you looking for. For me, although the price of the school is not really cheap, there are still some parts that I like about in this school. which I don't think other schools might have the same.

The school is in a great old 1950s streamline building that features a cranky old elevator that would have been junked in the US years ago. The school itself is surprisingly large and filled with seekers of languages. My 2 week course was 3 hours a day starting at 10. Intense, and effective. I was in a beginners class with 1 Spanish, 2 Japanese, 2 Italian, one French, one UK and one Rumanian student. Most everyone spoke some English so that was helpful to me, and at the end of my two weeks, I was able to have limited conversations with the Japanese lady (who spoke zero English) in GERMAN! That was pretty cool. My only regret is that this class happened at the end of my tenure here (unorganized grant program - grr). Had it come at the beginning of my 3 months here it would have been way more useful. After 2 weeks, my reading comprehension of the signs all around me increased exponentially. My two teachers, Julia and Hedda, were wonderful. I do wish they kept to a single teacher, although the team teaching thing makes sense - maybe just not for beginners. I'd take off half a star for that one issue, but since we only get full stars, they can stay at 5. OH: And they have a guy bring in baguettes and croissants during the break - what a nice feature. They have computers so you can check email and such during the break as well. Highly recommended for beginners.

Their website explicitly says they will respond within a day. After a week of not hearing back I went to the school in person to ask about their courses. This should have been my first indication but since it was rated so much better than other schools I decided to go there anyway. Even before classes begun I had problems with them: they signed me up for the wrong weeks, the never sent my placement test, they didn't call me back... After my session started I continued to have issues with the administration. They changed the class schedule without prior notice and expected me to accomodate their adjustments. Thankfully they did not arrange my housing because many of my classmates had issues with their accommodations. The actual courses were good, but you can learn German anywhere in Berlin. The administration was so unprofessional the classes were barely worth the headache.

If you're looking for German courses in Berlin, I strongly recommend checking out Transmitter!…read more I've taken several courses with them, from A2 through B2, and have always had a great experience. In the time I've spent at Transmitter, I've worked with four different teachers, and they've all been excellent--very nice, well prepared, helpful--and just all around interesting people as well! It is obvious that the people who work at Transmitter really care about the students and helping them learn. Besides being attentive and welcoming, they also do things like host regular outings in the city (like gallery visits, bar nights, conversation nights, etc.) On top of all this, I've also found that courses here are not as expensive as other places. Who could argue with that?

I was really uncertain if signing up for a language course was going to be the best method of refreshing my knowledge. Turns out, it has been! I'm impressed on a daily basis with how flexible Hanno, and the rest of the Transmitter team, is in dealing with students with a very wide range of German experience. Everyone joining these courses has their own background with German, and yet the classes work and we make progress. It's difficult to learn German in a place like Berlin, since it's so easy to get by without speaking it. The Transmitter team definitely takes that into account, and through the small class sizes, frequent partner and team activities, as well as encouragement to use German outside of classes, everyone has been making a lot of really amazing progress. Glad I'm spending these two months with these folks!!
