It used to be a gas station, and still has some of the hardware. I haven't used their rewards system since the first rewards FOB dried up and broke off my keychain 8 or 9 years ago. I am not sure what the deals are that you get with the scanning of the rewards card, but I know you sign up online before going there. it's kinda outdated. I should get a new one. They have a weekly circular and it does not state any limits on produce. When you get to the actual store front, there is a limitation. There was an avocado limit at one point. If you didn't purchase a certain amount, you could not buy the avocados at the sale price. But it's not written in every language and even the English was not understandable. This week is 3 for $2.00 oranges. But your only allowed 3. Doesn't mention it anywhere so if you even had an extra bag of oranges, they will take it back. I work in a school, and have done bulk orders for festive events. They gave us less than the amount ordered but were able to fix it. That situation was stressful only because it involved kids. And since it was a mistake of the store, they needed to cater to our timing for the event which they almost weren't able to. They did fix the problem but with much hassle. Overall, the store is decent. Workers are alright. Certain things could be better.

I've previously worked at a food cooperative as a GM and have been a member of various co-ops in California, Utah, Massachusetts, and upstate New York. I love co-ops. Over the past 10 years, I've visited more than 50 of them, and this is the only one where I've genuinely felt unwelcome. Since moving to the area, I've stopped by this location about 10 times. 3/4ths of the time, the checkout experience has been...weird. The clerks rarely greet me or even acknowledge me when I'm checking out. I usually have to initiate a "Hi" or ask, "Are you open?" One time, I stood there for a full minute while the cashier continued chatting with a coworker. It was awkward, and honestly, a little uncomfortable. Another time, a cashier whose line I was in told me another line was open and directed me there, only for that second cashier to tell me she wasn't actually open, and pointed me to a third one. I felt like I was stuck in a weird game of musical chairs, just without the music (or the chairs). If I'm in your line and you're open, just please check out my groceries lol. Of course, no one owes anyone a "hi" or conversation, but I shop at co-ops because, in my experience, there's usually an implicit interest in fostering connection/community among staff. That's always been part of what makes co-ops special to me, and I just haven't felt that here. Maybe I'm just going at the wrong times. I'm all for supporting local and cooperative models, but I'm hoping for a warmer experience elsewhere. I'll be trying out Park Slope next!

Few months ago , including today, I specifically asked for an item to be added to my sandwich. I asked specifically if you have "Sauerkraut" , in which they said yes. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and requested suakerrat to be added. They confirmed they have it and have added it. I walked almost 25 min back to my office-no Sauerkraut. I called the Deli Owner/worker behind the counter. I was so specificic this time and was taken aback that this happened a second time, same scenario. I asked how this could be rectified, further explaining that this happened twice with the same issue. First time, they lied and said they had it and never added it (went back later that day brought the sandwich in and exchanged it for a lunch platter which was tasteless). Today- They requested I come back for a $1 refund. I explained that does add up, taking the bus and /or walking 20 min for $1 is not helpful. I spent a total of $20 dollars to give this business a second chance... Horrible customer service & communication

Prepared food vendors include a couple of Mexican fruit stands and King David Tacos. I recommend the fish tacos. There are at least three or four vendors selling high quality produce, a couple of meat vendors including duck, and farm fresh eggs. There are a couple of bakeries and blended honey from Remsburger's. I've been obsessed with their cranberry honey! They give out samples and even have little pixie stix for the kiddies that are only a quarter. A surefire way to keep eager and excited that kids occupied while you make the rounds, lol. One of the farmers has tons of apples. Surprise , its New York state- but they also have apple cider and cider donuts which you can get plain or sugared. It's best if you go to them when the market first opens. That's when they're actually close to warm and tasty. Otherwise it's just dry and no amount of apple cider is going to help. For entertainment, there's usually a couple of bus game musicians. The last time I went there was a saxophonist and what sounded like a Appalachian fiddling group. Another time they had a marimba player and they were really really good. Check out the video!

The fact that there is a farmer's market in Bushwick is quite exciting in itself- local organic produce has even crept into the hood! Just in case you missed this detail- there are two location: Wednesdays @ Broadway & Linden, Saturdays @ Maria Hernandez Park. They've recently added a live cooking demo & food tasting series to the saturday market. Definitely swing by for this at some point. Today I got to taste a delicious portabello ropa vieja. Yum. I didn't linger on the cooking demos too long, but one can certainly gain some knowledge on cooking all those fresh tasty vegetables. I'll stop through again sometime soon. There is a CSA called NEXTDOORGANICS stationed at the Bushwick Farmer's Market that I'll probably be joining. This CSA is unique in that you don't pay upfront for the whole harvest season, you can go week by week. Also, fresh cut flowers are included in your weekly pickups. Aside from veggies, Bushwick Farmer's Market also has local honey, cheese and milk, brewklyn grind coffee and artisanal bread. I look forward to seeing this farmer's market grow in the future. What they are doing is wonderful.

I can't remember if they have meats besides like cured meats. A lot of snack type stuff here. It's basically like in between a bodega and a grocery store. This is where I come if I want bodega stuff and slightly more, and the store is cleaner than most bodegas. The guy at the cashier who I assume is the owner is really nice too.

Think going deep into the smaller batch offerings of many local brands in particular like Barrier, Evil Twin, Other Half and Kelso, as well as national stars like Half Acre and Stillwater among others. Its gotten to the point that it often rivals the selection of the excellent Goldstar Beer Counter a block away, minus the growlers. As you can see, whats driving this high rating is chiefly the beer selection, it really might just be quietly one of the best in BK and I hesitate to blow up my own spot but I must give credit where it is due, and its very much due here. Beyond that the place is one of the more bougie "gourmet" delis that are found throughout the metro that generally represent a step or so up from the humble bodega, both in terms of quality/selections of offerings and in pricing. Staff is friendly and efficient and again the beer selection is AMAZING...
