My husband and I were long-time on-time members at this bank. When we moved out of town, we switched credit unions as OSCU is not close to the town we now live. While trying to get a mortgage in late 2025 I discovered a severely delinquent 25-month past due balance of $331 on my credit report from OSCU, dropping our credit substantially from 800+ to 640. The credit union did not do their due diligence to notify us of the past due amount. They claim they sent a letter in the mail (our old address and after forwarding services had ceased) and that they simply "dont have the time" to make any more effort to alert their members of past due balances. They did not attempt to contact me through any other channel and they never sent the debt to collections to be paid. The National Credit Union Administration explicitly states that institutions must have reasonable policies for member notifications, using all available contact channels (mail, phone, email) and account records to attempt outreach before reporting, particularly for small or first-time delinquencies. It is clear to me that Oregon State Credit Union does not care about their members, and they do not fulfill their responsibility to provide notice of issues. I have called several times and have been reassured by the staff that this will go away from my credit after 7 years. Totally unreasonable. It is not acceptable for long standing on-time members to pay the consequences for their failure to perform due diligence. Upon discovery, I attempted to pay this debt immediately but Oregon State Credit Union would not allow me to pay on the phone and required we bring a cashiers check or other guaranteed fund in person to pay. This was not a reasonable option as we live an hour or more away from the closest Oregon State Credit Union. I was able to pay this debt when I called back in March 2026 and was finally able to pay over the phone. You need to close your doors if you can't modernize and if you do not have the proper staffing to make good faith and reasonable attempts for payment. read more

On 10-7-25, in person at the Woodburn branch, I both took out an initial membership, a required $ 5 saving account, and also opened a type of CD. As part of that process I registered for online banking, including provision of the routing and account #'s for my external checking account. Said data also clearly indicated on the check for deposit I gave to the applicable staffer. However, subsequently when I logged on to the website in order to do a sort of trial run entry to see how exactly I go about transferring some funds from that external account which will then be deposited into the OSCU CD account of record, and thus was on the relevant page, per the germane drop down menu, and expecting to see the prior provided external account data, yet the box was blank! Also, while on the website, and again expecting to access any and all pertinent data, yet nowhere could I find several applicable account numbers.. Whereas, all I was able to see after having accessed the Personal Information page is something identified as "ID **** In sum, doubtless this is a markedly deficient financial website, like no other ever experienced. Then after I sent another external email (meaning not while logged in to the website) to the indicated OSCU address, I received, in part the following email message. "Thank you for your e-mail regarding your account. I'm so sorry for the frustration this has caused. We would be happy to assist you; however, for security reasons and for your protection, we request that you contact us" including through "Secure email through your online banking" My return reply. ´"Secure email through your online banking or mobile app access?" (Note: totally unlike every other financial website with which previously I've interacted which contain an actual email structure, what passes at OSCU instead is a chat room!) So, once more I sent another external email inquiry--, asking for example why my checking acct. of record did not show up on the transfer from drop down menu? And once again I posed multiple questions easily answered in an external remail reply, none content that required 'secure information," e.g., how precisely is it one takes funds, in this scenario, from an external funding source and transfer such to the prior established CD? Moreover, I asked "where on the website are shown, after logging in, the full account data for, e.g., the CD" "ALL of the above" such "questions simply pose in order to get straight answers" I ended the email by writing, "Sorry, but I don't have any patience for getting the personally perceived run a round." All I can say in conclusion, thank the stars that my initial deposit amount was only about 20% of what I had originally intended, as in multiples of 100 K. Greg M. read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. They'll deposit perfectly valid checks into your account then 72hrs later decide they aren't valid and withdraw the funds without warning or reason, leaving you holding the bag on any fees incurred. I have banked with Oregon State Credit union for 19 years. I have accounts totaling in the thousands of dollars with them. I have direct deposit and have for years. I applied for an auto loan with them and they said I need a co-signer. My monthly income is 5x greater than my rent payment and I have a rental property as well. I think I am going to close all of my accounts with them and shop local. I bet another credit union would appreciate my money, my credit score and my business more than OSU federal!!! I've been with Oregon State Credit Union for three years now. When I start getting a Social Security many years ago, it was always on the third Wednesday of every month. Going to Oregon State Credit Union with after about the first nine months they started paying me on the first Friday of the month then the next time on the second Wednesday of the month. Then it went to the first of the month. I need to get a forensic accountant to have them go over my account. Because I do believe that they have taken or have some of my money there. You can't juggle someone's account around and not lose some money. I went to Social Security Social Security said every second Wednesday of the month is when you get paid, we sent it out the night before and you should get paid by 6 AM from your bank or credit union. Well that ain't happening. So within the next couple weeks, I'm going to get a forensic accountant and have them go over my account. And if I am losing money and have missed money, I will be suing this credit union. read more

After having an autoloan for nearly 5 years they insisted on me paying a fee to make an extra payment that was more than the loan pay off. Their customer service has been awful the last few times I have called. I will probably not do business with them in the future. Look elsewhere there are plenty of better credit unions. read more

A once great credit union is now worse than major banks. Reason 1 erroneous fees assessed because I had a change of address and they didn't record it properly. 2 wanted to charge me $15 to make a credit card payment because THEY changed the payment system. 3. Charged me late payment penalties due to me being unable to pay because they changed the system and now live out of state and unable to go to a branch to make a payment. 4 The people now running this credit union are more concerned with raping the members over the coals than actually fixing anything. 5 they took down their google reviews page because they are so terrible and trying to do damage control. This story unbelievable-- get this: this financial institution would not change a US $50 bill for two $20s and a $10-- even though that $50 came out of their ATM, an ATM that would not dispense 5 $20s but instead gave me two $50s with my debit card from another credit union -- but they would not later change the 50 because they said I was not a member. Does this make sense? Is this not a financial institution and is not the currently I want to exchange guaranteed by the US Treasury? What's wrong with these people? Where do I start! First off this bank is by far the worst ever! When I pay my bills online or automatic, CU places a expiration date in the hold so if what ever your bill or so places a hold, and they get delayed after your expiration date OSCU will automatically refund u the money back, and days later causing you to go negative do too expiration date (when other bills take out) . I was negative 2 days only and they took from my savings to reimburse my checking!! They would not reimburse my savings and wait for a few days till I got paid. This bank is horrible!! I've always had issues with them even purchasing items bcz they would block my card every damn time I made a big purchase. Bill from Dallas More than five years with OSCU and have had no problems with customer service or account issues. Quite the contrary. They paid serious attention when I had a problem with a VPN vendor and returned the money to my credit card the vendor would not do. Getting almost 5% interest on a short 8 mo. CD and I sure like that. They always promptly respond to any inquiry I have and even gave me access to the general council and chief financial officer to ask my questions. Unlike WAFD, OSCU has NOT been recently downgraded by Moody's. I like my OSCU. read more

My wife and I have been members since 2017. They are close and convenient for our needs. However the service has gone downhill. Wait times for customer service has increased and quality of knowledge of some reps were lacking. Trying to move an IRA from another Credit Union turned into a fiasco. After coming in, completing all paperwork setting up the account and for the transfer it didn't get done correctly. My wife was made her own beneficiary which was incorrect but corrected three days later causing another trip for a signature. we were told everything was ready, length and interest were set and all was well. No further actions were needed, they were waiting on the transfer (we had gone to our other CU and they knew the request was coming). Fast forward over a month and a half! No communication since then. Checked our account and found the IRA was sitting in a IRA savings account at a very low intrest amount over 4% less than what we applied for. Their excuse, we didn't come back to fill out papers to designate the length and rate for the IRA. Not correct, we did that initially. Wife spent over 2 1/2 hours trying to see someone to clear this up, finally resorting to ask a teller if a manager was available as she had been waiting 2 hours and it was nearing closing. She was not happy with the response she got from the rep and was totally frustrated. I contacted and requested a manager by phone as I was out of town. A solution was agreed upon and told it would be handled. Interest that was lost would be backdated to time of receipt, ok, I thought that was fair. my wife went in after receiving a call the next day to be told it was our mistake, until she handed him our paperwork and that no one has contacted us to say there was a problem or we needed to come in to do anything else. To make matters worse he said the interest would not be backdated! So, wife requested the IRA be canceled, a check issued to rollover to one of our other CU! All our accounts, checking, CD's etc. are in the process of being closed with Oregon State. As a premier member, (their wording), I sure hope they don't treat others this way! Our treatment and customer service is totally unacceptable! I do believe evaluations and training is highly needed! I do not recommend Oregon State at my location (Lebanon). You just lost a good reliable customer! Highly Dissatisfied! The amount of interest was substantial, and losing that due to their errors is not something I take lightly! New in town,, I came in here to set up a trust. The clerk clearly didn't know the process. I asked her to define some terms. She stated she couldn't because she isn't allowed to advise me. I told her I didn't need to know what to put down, just the definition of terms. She said she could show me documentation confirming that she couldn't help. I called her bluff, and she wouldn't show me. By then the manager had come over and defined the terms. I asked to work with him, not her. He took too long to set up a space while she was giving me corporate speak about how sorry she was "you feel that is how you feel." She was gaslight good me. I came to this small town to get away from people like her. I realized there are a lot of credit unions here. I'll take my business elsewhere. The clerk didn't know what she was talking about, and she could have said, "I'm sorry, this is new to me too. Let's see if we can figure this out." I have been a member since 2010, and it's only in the last year that this place has truly gone downhill. I am regularly locked out of my account while using my valid information, and have to call the phone line to get access, which then creates a whole other layer of incompetence when the agents aren't able to verify who I am based off my SSID, DOB, and ACTUAL BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION. The lack of understanding of basic protocol is apparent, and it is obvious that procedural scripts have been written with no consideration towards helping us. Furthermore, they continue to charge overdraft fees yet can't process timely payments or refunds, further harming members just trying to pay bills on time. This was one of the top financial institutions in the state, now I wouldn't rate them above Wells Fargo. read more

I would strongly advise against using CUSO Financial Services for any investment services. I have been trying for over 8 years to fully liquidate an investment that OSU foisted on my sister-in-law, which has proven to be almost impossible to close out. It is a REIT that requires a form to be submitted quarterly which we have been submitting every quarter for over 8 years. What we receive in return are a multitude of reasons as to why they cannot redeem our full share value. After one complaint we even received correspondence from a senior executive stating that it was our fault for selecting that particular investment and that they were going to keep our shares. Class act, that was. Now we are being told that we need to obtain a Medallion Signature Guarantee which has not been required previously, again for over 8 years. After questioning our "Account Executive" about this new roadblock we were informed that the previous "Account Executive" had been doing it wrong all this time. That really helps. Our only recourse now to recover our funds appears to be to take a third party buyout offer, albeit at a deeply discounted share price. Fee only financial planners are the way to go. read more

I was dumbfounded as to why they cancelled my account for being overdrawn $1.14. They sent me a letter that they were going to send it to collections after a week, and that I need to return my shredded card and checks to my nearest branch. I had no idea it was even overdrawn. We opened a small business account with the Lebanon Branch. The service was absolutely horrible. We needed to speak with their business services office and we were told they would contact us in a day or two. We waited almost two weeks. So we called business services and spoke with Brandon. Brandon promised to help us but failed to call us back. I reached out again and he explained that he was too busy but we would hear from him in a day or two. He did not call us back. Been a member since 2009, used to love it but the last few years they have gone down fast! They pulled out of shared branching so if you don't live in the Salem/Albany/Corvallis area it is impossible to do anything!! Their mobile/phone abilities are extremely limited compared to other banks, which forces you to go to a physical location to do anything like get OR cash a cashiers check, transfer funds, withdrawal large amounts, cash a check with your name spelled wrong and many other things! They also use a call center now, where you don't get any helpful service or anyone who really knows what you can or can't do. Customer service used to be their strong point but in the last two years I have never had helpful service. Would have closed my account sooner but since we live farther away, have to take a day to drive to a physical location and close it! So tired of all the frustration, time and monetary issues this bank has caused us in the last few years! I would never use this credit union for anything except a doorway for the homeless to sleep. They have taken double amount for every payment and then telling me there's no way for them to transfer it back to my account. 600.00 dollars onto of a 600 dollar payment. I waited on hold 3 separate times. They told me they would be able to transfer it back no problem then when it came time to she said they can and literally hung up on me. Called back, waited on hold for 25 minutes to pretty much be told to bad. They took 600.00 freaking extra dollars out of my account. That would be devastating to alot of people. I've been a member here for 6 or 7 years. I've always had a good experience but I'm writing this review because I called in today to close my account. I'm only closing it because I've been living far away for years and I don't like using the coop network. Anyway, I called today to close my account. Long story short, I tried to pay a credit card to use all the funds on my account but I made a number of mistakes that I needed help fixing. They were very helpful on the phone through multiple calls as I tried to sort out what I'd done. They spent over half an hour helping me... a person who was trying to close an account with less than $20 in it. Seriously some of the most helpful phone customer service I've ever had. read more

I have been an Oregon State CU member since I was in middle school and have become too fed up with them to continue using their services. Terrible shared branch coverage. Terrible resolution to problems with online banking (Financeworks hasn't loaded my transaction history in 6 years even after multiple calls for assistance). Online login regularly breaks Rude customer service reps that do not follow through on their basic job responsibilities such as taking notes during a call. I recently asked them to update my home address to which they confirmed they would do, but I found out a month later after calling about another issue that my address had not been updated. This address difference was approximately 450 miles incorrect. After telling the second CSR what my address is, he could not tell me what I had said because he "would review the call later to update my address." I had to force him to write down my address and in order to confirm that when I close my account that the check sent to me would arrive in the correct place. Customer Service Reps are supposed to do one simple thing. SERVE THE CUSTOMER not give excuses about he's just the one who picked up the phone. Dealing with an upset customer is PART OF YOUR JOB especially when you caused part of the problem. read more

I am not someone who often reviews places, especially with negative reviews, but it has been so difficult working with this company that I'm frustrated that I even have to give it a 1 star review when it deserves nothing. I got an auto loan from Oregon State Credit Union in March. I was super excited because I was finally getting a new car without any help from others. Turns out, it wasn't a great decision because of who gave me the auto loan. I had insurance for the car that I was already paying for, but they forced me to have a "Collateral Damage Protection" on it, because my insurance didn't have it on the insurance card the Oregon State Credit Union was a lien holder. I spent months going back and forth with different individuals about taking the collateral protection off because the car was already insured. However, once they finally took it off of my car, they still charged me $897 for the months they were not listed as a lien holder. This made my car payments jump $75 a month, which is really difficult on a caregivers salary. I kept up with my normal payments every month but ended up $149 behind due to the added collateral damage money. I spoke with one of their member services representatives, and she told me that if I could pay off the extra $149 and get my bill current (even with the collateral damage vlcoverage on it), I would have the option to skip a month, and my payment would just be added to the end of my payment plan. I thought that it would be super useful to skip, since I would be switching jobs in December and wouldn't have the money needed to make my normal payment, so I scraped together everything I had left to get my bill current. Unfortunately, when I tried to skip a payment on their app, it wouldn't let me. I spoke with another one of their representatives on the phone, and he told me that I would not be allowed to skip a payment afterall, because I had to pay off all of the extra collateral coverage first, which is the complete opposite of what the other representative had told me. I then asked if I could change my payment date, so that I could make the payment on my new pay date so it wouldn't be late, to which I was also told no due to the stupid collateral that I never needed. He then preceded to tell me that I could sign a paper that he would email me that would take my payment off of automatic payments for the month, which would give me time a little bit of time to figure things out. And of course, he made sure to remind me that there would be a late fee if I didn't get the payment in before a certain time. I told him I understood and immediately signed the paperwork for him so that I wouldn't have to worry about the payment automatically being taken out of my account. But lo and behold, Oregon State Credit Union has tried to automatically take the payment out of my account anyway, despite the papers I signed, twice now this month, which is going to give me overdraft fees, because there's no money in my account. I am beyond frustrated with their lack of professionalism and their absence of respect for their customers. They have continuously lied and given me false information since I have become a member. Without a doubt, Oregon State Credit Union does not value their customers. Money is their only objective, and they do not care how they screw over their customers to get it. Please save yourself the trouble and find someplace else that actually cares about the people they are working with and serving. read more
