As an old fart i have many fond memories of drive-ins, piling into the car in our jammies, seeing the latest Clint Eastwood movie...so I was delighted to hear Neptune had worked with the community to bring it back as fantastic solution to the COVID problem. They erected a decent sized screen, built a projector house; modern technology via FM transmitter (95.5) eliminates the need for the clunky old wired systems of the olden days. So, you go into the lobby (mask on!), say how many tiks you need, get your popcorn and soda and go park (or you can park first) - for two adults, one large popcorn and medium drink it was $25. Yes. You heard right. I even walked back into the lobby thinking they undercharged me. GREAT VALUE. And btw, its the cutest little theatre lobby this side of the Mississippi. Great, friendly staff inside. The previews and 'movie trivia' are locally and professionally produced with, likely, the proprietors children? Very cute! And they leveraged a local production company here in my home of Ocean Park, which did a fantastic job. The movie was nice and bright. At times the FM sound drifted a bit, usually during low volume parts. Since it was cold, we ran the engine intermittently, luckily our subaru didnt insist on turning on the headlights as some other modern cars do. Even in the rain, with intermittent windshield wipers, we really enjoyed the show! No Mask! And theres an INTERMISSION! "Lets all go to the lobby...." They had some tempting food at great prices (next time I'll come hungry) Anyway, GREAT JOB Neptune & co.! I hope they retain the drive in as a wonderful novelty for 'normal times' - Long Beach Visitors ought to add it to their list of 'what to dos in LB'. We'll be back! Oh, and smart local business owners and realtors ought to be snapping up screen time for advertising.

The Columbian is everything- quaint, affordable!!, fun, and the staff is friendly. This place has…read moreso much character. I do not recommend if you're looking for a modern AMC type experience. It's historic and the best seats are upstairs on the balcony in vintage living room couches. My only grievance is that they serve pizza but do not have ranch. The ones upstairs appear to be reserved for quests who purchas food/drinks from the upstairs vendor, but we didnt, and didnt get bothered. Low prices. Aging restrooms. Inexpensive concessions. There was a part with a black actor, dressed all in black and I only saw him because I could barely make out the whites of his eyes. At this point I'm done and left to ask for a refund. The manager tried to convince me this is how the movie is supposed to look. Even took me into another theatre to see it on a different screen. It also looked terrible. It was kinda funny, a manager of a movie theater should know this isn't acceptable. I feel like they got some knock off cheap versions of the film and are just trying to pass it off. It honestly was on par with cam quality. Got a refund and could hear the manager talking crap about me to other employees as I walked away. Classy. Went to a regal in Vancouver that same day to actually watch the movie, it was like an entirely different film! It was wild watching scenes I had already seen and realizing how different it was. There's a part with a spider in a web in the upper corner of a door frame that I hadn't been able to see at all at Kelso Regal because it was all shadow but it was clear as day on this screen. Not likely to return after this experience and being treated this way. I'll just go to Vancouver.

I got admission and a popcorn and when she told me the price I had her repeat it like 3 times because I strongly thought she under charged me. The theater brings family friendly films as well as current films that adults will enjoy. The last three movies we watched here were - Mufasa, Wicked, and A Complete Unknown. Showing this week is Sonic 3. This theater only has one screen, but they keep the films rotating through. Check out their $5 Tuesdays.
