Not all senior living communities are the same. Each has its own unique atmosphere, amenities and policies designed to accommodate senior citizens who are ready for a new lifestyle. And on a case-by-case basis, problems can sometimes be solved with effective communication. However, there seems to be none at Orchard Park.
I visited my father over the holidays and came to the conclusion that the current Office and Assistant Manager[s] don't seem to care about anything. I understand that hiring, training, and retaining staff members is perhaps the biggest challenge facing retirement communities, but I'm amazed by these individuals who (to be quite frank), don't seem to care. I, along with several of my father's neighbors and their families, have addressed frustrations, disappointments, and concerns, but again, they could care less. I did my best, and informed them as to why we are unhappy, and tried to create a plan together to move forward but to no avail.
In closing, my father will not say anything for fear of retribution, and moving can be very stressful for him. So it's important that I look at the bigger picture and decide if concerns can be resolved before moving. I've observed how Orchard Park didn't respond, and think the issues are stagnant and resident's safety is at risk. In the meantime, I hope I am able to find better quality options in the area. read more
