Since I was a single and early she asked if I wanted to tee off early, so I did. The course is interesting, plenty of doglegs and a few blind tee shots. The greens rolled fairly well and the one bunker I was in was well maintained. If I'm ever back in Door County I'd play here again.

We played The Bull in Sheboygan Falls and The Irish at Whistling Straights (two of the top 100 courses in the U. S.) for under $150! Don't waste your money. Peninsula Park Golf Course has better, more dramatic views and The Orchards is in just as good of shape for 1/3 the price.

The fairways were undistinguished from anything else. The greens had some sort of circular fungus rendering them unplayable. It's a pretty straight forward course (no water at all, holes are all pretty much straight on) but I enjoy playing it. Back 9 is a little longer and trickier than the front 9. There's a couple par 3s (9 and 17) that are fun holes to play. Management changed this past season and the course and traps seemed like they were in much better shape. They do have tennis courts along a few of the holes on the back 9 that haven't been used in years and have become fairly dumpy....it would be nice if they were either cleaned up or removed. That would be my only complaint. I'm looking forward to going back next year.

We played a round on a recent trip here, and somehow our middle aged selves did much better than our tween to teen selves...either we acquired more mini golf skill over the years or the holes are easier...I'll go with the former! Pirate's Cove offers a fun, challenging, and well maintained miniature golf course. We were there on a Friday and it was busy but not annoyingly so. If you want a true taste of Wisconsin, start with a brandy Old Fashioned--nobody does them quite like Wisconsin, and theirs was excellent. We visited on a Friday night and enjoyed the classic Wisconsin fish fry. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional, and I have to mention that they serve the best blue cheese dressing I've had in a long time. Our waiter was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made us feel right at home. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the owner, Penny. She took the time to share the history of the supper club, which was especially meaningful to me because my own parents owned a supper club. Hearing the stories and traditions behind the place made the experience even more special. Great food, wonderful people, and authentic Wisconsin hospitality.
