This cruise started out lovely but did not end the best. We boarded the boat for our cruise for 11,…read morewith 4 kids (10-14 range) and the rest adults. We left the dock with a woman guide and an older man captaining. She was quite friendly and talkative and explained the area to us as we drove around. We stopped first at an inlet that serves as a nursery area for dolphins and we got to see several young dolphins play and learn some fun facts. The ride was enjoyable - we had brought drinks and snacks on board and everyone was enjoying themselves. We neared Bird Island and the woman guide pointed out a house belonging to Garth Brooks. She then tried to point out a house belonging to Cameron Diaz's mother, but it was a bit out of sight - so the boat moved around to get us into eye-sight. That was when the boat lurched and came to a sudden halt. The woman did not appear to react at all, so at first no one seemed to realize anything was wrong, but soon we were alerted that we had run aground on a sand bar. Here is where things went downhill sharply. Over the next 30 minutes, it became clear that they had no idea whatsoever what they should do. There was no emergency plan. The captain tried to gun the boat in reverse to back us off, but it was firmly stuck. They tried to wave down another tour boat, only to have them tell us that they would love to help but had customers on board and were not permitted. They seemed to have no defined action plan at all. Finally they called their main office, only to be cursed at by, presumably, the owner, that he now had a lot of paperwork to fill out and that the captain better figure it out himself. We tried shifting all passengers to the front of the boat - then the back - and then back again, several times. Not longer after this, the captain informed the adults that the only solution he could come up with was for some of us to get out of the boat and start pushing. Given we had all been drinking, I am not sure how this was the solution arrived on, but presumably without a modicum of help from the company office, this was all he could come up with. Myself and another adult got into the water and started pushing - and with him gunning the boat in reverse - we were able to get free. Now during this time, with tensions high, the captain yelled several times at the kids. We boarded the boat again without any major issue - and we were off again after about an hour trapped. They took us to see the sunset before bringing us back to the dock. They apologized profusely and offered us some free rides the next day - of course the last thing we wanted was to get on another boat at that point. We have not been offered any discount or refund of our cruise - despite spending a third of it trapped and being yelled at. I find this whole situation completely avoidable. Why they did not immediately call the office and have them send another boat to rescue the passengers, it is unclear to me. Or have company staff push the boat off. Had any of us slipped and injured ourselves getting off or back on the boat, this could have gone from bad to much worse. Worse yet, they appeared to have absolutely no action plan at all for what to do when things went wrong, which is honestly indefensible. No one waiting for us at the dock to apologize - no follow-up from the company after the fact. I would strongly caution against using this company until they figure some of these items out, at the least.

But he listened to our experience, expectations & priorities then suggested the best tour for us. Then, Captain Chris was awesome on our trip!! He was constantly looking for wildlife and telling us about the area. Once we got to Egmont, he kept asking what we wanted and adjusted the tour accordingly. We had a great day and would book with them again & again. Thanks for a perfect day on the water!

My family was vacationing in Anna Maria Island, and we wanted to do some sort of boat trip while we…read morewere there. We've done tours on other trips to other places, but I really didn't want to be on a big boat with lots of strangers. When I saw this tour, and all the great reviews, I knew this was what we needed to do. Susan was great handling the booking (I booked a month or so in advance, which was good so that we could get the time/day we wanted!) They did an excellent job of following up on the booking, then confirming the day before and making sure they knew what we wanted and answered our last minute questions. Parking at their storefront was easy, and the boat itself is just across the street. We showed up a few minutes early to be outfitted for snorkel gear which was quick and easy. It was a bright and sunny day, and Mike had us head out to Egmont Key so that we could explore the island. What was really awesome was that they didn't expect you to jump off the front of the boat (unless you wanted to of course!), they had steps that you could use that were quick and easy (and with a bad back, very necessary). It was a super hot day, so he gave us bottles of water, explained the layout of the island and off we went to explore. We saw some turtles, the lighthouse, and the fort ruins, and then had a nice walk on the beach before re-boarding the boat. He then took us just a little ways off shore to some rocky ruins in the water and got us out snorkeling. They have pool noodles if you just want to float, and they also had a big floating mat that you could lay on if you wanted! When we had our fill we climbed back on board and we were off to Passage Key. The water around Passage Key is amazingly clear - even waist deep you could pretty well see the all the way down. This area was very sandy, but the bottom was covered with hundreds and hundreds of sand dollars. You could feel them just under the sand when you walked, and you could then dig them out with your toes or just go under water and grab them. The key is that you cannot take any live ones - so if they are brown and fuzzy you have to put them back. We trolled around digging up sand dollars for quite some time - we must have dug up hundreds, but that day we only managed to come across one white, dead sand dollar that we could keep (but we did find several gorgeous "sunset" shells that were cool!) At this point we climbed back into the boat and saw that a thunderstorm was approaching in the distance, so we headed back for the marina. We were disappointed that we didn't get to see any manatee that day, but we knew that you can't always plan for that. We arrived at the marina just as a few drops were falling so the timing was perfect!! We booked the 4 hour tour so that we would not be hurried, and we used every minute of it - I wouldn't have changed a thing. You absolutely need to book this tour - why share an experience with a bunch of strangers when you can have the boat all to yourselves! You won't regret it, it was certainly one of the highlights from this trip!!
