I need you Yelpers to know that this praise is coming from the world's MOST dentophobia (dental fear) patient there ever was. Doctor Ferguson and his staff were so patient with my hyper anxiety. Dr. Ferguson was so upbeat and confident; his enthusiasm was very reassuring to someone with such a strong phobia as I had. On the day of the surgery, he was very reassuring and helpful in getting me settled down so they could go to work on pulling my abscessed molar. He did not rush me or become impatient with my crying and my apparent fear...he just smiled and spoke softly to me as I was falling apart before they were going to administer anesthesia. He allowed me the time I needed to move forward with the surgery. The assistants were terrific also. They were so gentle and patient with me as I was having an absolute meltdown before my surgery. Melissa, Dr. Ferguson's assistant, just was as sweet as anyone could be in dealing with an adult that was behaving like a certified little baby. She talked so kind to me as I shook and cried while she tried to explain how I would be fine and it was not going to be as bad as I thought. Unfortunately for all of them, I was inconsolable at the time, but I did go under the spell of the wonderful anesthesia and I awoke not even knowing it was over. I believe the other nurse that was in the room was Mary, but my mind was on other things at the time, so I can't say for sure. She also was so understanding and reassured me that I could take all the time I needed to adjust to the reality I was going to have to submit to a dental procedure I did not want to take part in. My recovery was quick and painless. I didn't even have to take any pain medication. At my two week checkup, both Melissa and Dr. Ferguson were so kind to me. They reassured me that I was not their worst patient ever. I had actually gone in to the appointment feeling very embarrassed by my previous behavior and was kind of dreading facing them again. They just made me feel so "normal" and that I had not been as big of a pain as I had feared. I just can't give them enough praise for the entire experience. If they had a "love" button on YELP, I would use it on this dental dynamo team. They really are BRILLIANT, OUTSTANDING, and FABULOUS!!!

On her most recent visit we requested that she be given IV sedation, as she was feeling overly anxious about having 4 teeth pulled. It was no problem, thank goodness. The receptionist checked us in upon arrival, and when it was our turn the nurses took us back and prepped my sweet girl for her procedure. Seeing that my daughter was a nervous wreck, the nurses brought her a fluffy blanket, wiped her tears, and showed her compassion. Dr. Harris came in, explained the process and was happy to answer any questions my daughter had. He does his best to keep the mood light and truly seems to love his patients. I also want to make sure that I mention the respect he has for his patients. He treats them as complete equals and makes it clear with his words and actions that their thoughts and feelings are important to him. Once the laughing gas began to flow and the IV sedation kicked in things went very quickly. Before you knew it, it was over. We waited in a recovery room until my girl was awake enough to safely walk. We were given thorough discharge instructions and we headed home. All went well. Note that my daughter is 14 years old and weighs only 125 pounds. She came home still sleeping, pale, and shaking. Her fever was 103; the nurse actually told me if it hits 105 to bring her to the ED! At 105, that's too late!!! I ended up have medics and a dr check my daughter because she was still pale and lethargic almost a week later. She said she was so scared when she went in the back because they put her in an unclean closet size room and the NURSE ADMINISTERED the anesthesia!!! She said she NEVER even seen the doctor at all! At discharge, they prescribed her an antibiotic (Penicillin) and I told the nurse she is allergic to the "cillin" family and the nurser said if she does have anaphylaxis, just call the doctor...
