She never offered to take my coat and, when we were finished, and I was struggling to pin my hair back up, it was only after several minutes that she thought to offer me a comb. She suggested one style (the way she had her own hair as it happens) and then lost interest as I was asking questions about how it would work with my type of hair. Her solution was to tell me to find pictures of what I would like and the go back! Not a chance! I left feeling utterly deflated and will not be returning.

This is a little hairdressers based in Greenfield and is popular with the locals especially the teens. They do fantastic cuts and colours and have friendly too. At Renaissance Hair in Leed, I received what can only be described as five star client service! I was late for my appointment and they were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Liz stepped in to cut my hair which was a restyle and she did a fantastic job, providing exactly what I asked for and it's a long time since I walked away from z salon with a genuine smile on my face. They are a little pricey, but I didn't mind paying as the cut, and their treatment of me was worth every penny. I will definitely be back soon. While living in Leeds, I've flitted from salon to salon on a budget, never really ending up completely happy with my haircut or hairdresser. One day after looking at Google reviews, I decided to give Renaissance a try, and boy am I glad I did! I was booked in with George, who asked me loads of questions about what I wanted, what I did and didn't like about my hair, how I style it, etc. George was really friendly, offered to get me a drink (including wine or beer - how good is that?!), and just completely made me feel at ease. I was really happy with my hair when George had finished - it looked exactly like I had in mind. I've been back several times now and been really happy each time, it finally looks like I can stop flitting from salon to salon! It wasn't expensive either, though I think it's recently increased to around £34.

Bad little Yelper. When I called for an appointment the only hairdressers available were £27 and £29 respectively... well still O.K I thought, so I went ahead and booked. Unfortunately when I arrived I was greeted with about as much enthusiasm as if I had just walked in and tried to sell double glazing. With an interior ecchoing a cross between Crystal Maze's 'Future' zone and a scene from Dallas, I was beginning to wonder what I'd let myself in for. The customer service did pick up as my hairdresser, Simon, was lovely and chatty and not too overbearing, but his technique was unfortunately not as good as his chit chat. I have quite a mane of hair and asked for layering and a swept side fringe, all of which he gave me, yet there was still that certain something missing. It just looks rather, well... f... l... a... t... Which is a shame and perhaps acceptable at £21, but you really hope for more for £29 cut. In more professional salons, they've also attempted more elaborate blowdrying for a similar price, but here it was similar to what I can manage by washing it with Fairy Liquid on a camping trip and letting dry in the Northerly winds. If I'd have asked for a Kate Bush maybe I'd have liked it. But I didn't. They seemed to stock most Kérastase products, but unfortunatley none were recommended to me so I left empty handed. Perhaps Jam Hair would be fine if you do manage to book a £21 hairdresser and just need a trim, but on the whole, this salon didn't leave the greatest of impressions.

What ever it is you are after you can guarantee the finished result will look straight out of vogue magazine.Forget Toni and Guy who cut the same trend cuts, Jam Hair is the place to be! The salon uses the latest equipment from Kerestace products, to GHD curlers and straighteners. A dodgy hair cut from here is just not possible. You pay for quality at the salon with a cut costing £16-£30 depending on the style. I personally feel hair is a very important part of an image and therefore is worth spending a bit of cash on!! I try not to be superficial, but what I just adore about Jam Hair is the decor, furnishings and lighting. Some say it's pretentious but I love it. It is hard to distinguish weather it is a nightclub or hairdressers as you drive past some days. The atmosphere is moody with dark lighting broken up by barred neon lights creating an almost Matrix like feel. As well as being a fashionable setting is it sophisticated and gives us ladies a real feeling of being pampered!

I first came across this place when I cut my hair REALLY short. It was great until it started growing out and it got to that horrible awkward length where you can't do anything with it. This is when I took a trip here in search of some hair extentions.   The shop is run by middle aged men (for some reason I was expecting women who wear extentions and hair products to be the sales assistants) and as confusing as this was to me when I first walked in boy do they know they stuff! You can see them take a look at your hair for a few seconds then off they go to the wall of extentions and select two shades one of which is always a perfect match. They never do the hard sell they are just really friendly and give really great service. I have even been in for advice in dying my hair as I wanted to achieve a specific colour and they told me exactly how I would be able to. The quality in all the hair they sell is really great and I have even had the chance to try their luxury hair range which is around the £70 mark but well worth the extra money. I was actually given a discount on it too which made it that bit better. Whatever your needs you are bound to find something in here, they even sell makeup and false lashes for really cheap! I have been in before looking for a specific hair dye which they didn't stock. The manager asked me to write the name of it down so he could buy some in! They are literally that nice! The staff in this shop being as great as they are just makes me want to go back, and so my addiction to hair extentions and hair dye and is not going to end any time soon.

It was Monday and with a day off work the next day, I was trawling Yelp! for inspiration for somewhere new to try, and I also put a call out across various social networks asking my chums for recommendations. A couple of people recommended Auriole to me, but I faced the same problem that I was facing with everyone else: most hairdressers appear to be closed on Mondays, so I wasn't having any luck ringing round trying to see if there were any appointments free. As luck would have it, I tried Auriole's Facebook page and noticed that a new post had just been added by a member of staff so thought I'd try my luck and message her. She messaged me back and - ta daaa! - I had an appointment booked for the following morning! Auriole is a small but stylish salon in the middle of Town St. It's not one of those intimidatingly swanky places that makes you feel insecure, but it's really pretty and has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all really friendly and you could tell by the chatter in the salon they have a lot of 'regulars' which is always a sign of a great local hairdressers. Horsforth seems to be packed to the rafters with salons too, so it's clearly testament to the place. I got a warm & friendly greeting when I arrived and discussed the colour & cut I wanted with my stylist Vicky. As she did my hair the level of chat was just right: I'm not one for regaling life stories while I'm having my hair done, but a bit of friendly chatter is nice. As for the resulting 'do, I'm very pleased with the colour, and pretty happy with the cut (I'm always really unsure about new haircuts in the first few days - no fault of the hairdressers, just my own nervousness!) So why not 5 stars? Hmm I'm probably being a bit harsh here, but there were a few little niggly things that hold me back from awarding the elusive fifth star, not all of which were the salon's fault, but still affected my overall experience. I'd said when I booked that I needed to be done by 12.30 as I had to pick my kids up from school for a trip at 1pm, and I didn't leave until 12.45, which meant I had to literally run the length of Horsforth to make it on time. Obviously the hair cut & colour took as long as it took, and it's not like she could have just stopped before it was finished! Also, a rep turned up to discuss ordering products for the salon with the manager, but she was in the middle of cutting someone's hair, however the rep continued to have her discussions with the manager while she was clearly busy, and I thought this was a bit rude of her (the rep, not the manager!) Finally (and I feel a bit of a wimp just typing this!), my stylist did scratch my neck a little bit with the point of her scissors when she was cutting my locks. In total, it cost £65 for a restyle and half-head of highlights (2 colours) with Vicky which is pretty reasonable. I'd recommend Auriole to my friends, and I'll definitely go back again.
