When he came into the office with severe eye pain and sudden vision loss, they completely dismissed him and simply said they are an appointment-based clinic and told him to go home. This was a major factor in him losing vision in his left eye, as he was unable to get emergency care for over six hours. Any idiot would know that this is an emergency, and they should have handled it better -- at the very least, they should have told him to go to the emergency room if no doctor was available. The on-call doctors also do not call back within the 30-minute timeframe they claim is their protocol, and you have to call multiple times just to get a call back. The front staff mock and disrespect you with snarky comments and lie to cover up their mistakes. When you reach out to raise these issues, they also don't call back and completely dismiss you. Go to a real hospital like SLU or WashU Ophthalmology. This clinic is untrustworthy, incompetent, and incapable of providing proper patient care. Switching to a different hospital/clinic was the best decision we made -- the treatment and patient care are so much better, it's like night and day.

I thought everyone in the office was professional and caring from start to finish. It cost me $7,780. Dr. Gira explained the procedure and the upcoming timeline (should I choose to have the procedure) very well, answering several technical questions with concise and accurate answers. I've been told by several doctors in the past that LASIK is out of the question for my extra-sensitive eyes with thin corneas and larger-than-normal pupils. I was comfortable enough to let Dr. Gira operate on my eyes, and the outcome was outstanding. I was scheduled to arrive at 6:30 AM. My surgery was at 7:30 AM and first follow up appointment was at 1:30 PM the same day. At 1:30 PM, my eyes were a little swollen, but I could see 20/15 out of both eyes! I had no eye pain during or after the surgery. A week following the surgery, during my final follow up, the doctor attempted to further correct my visual acuity using the phoropter (big thing that goes in front of your face with lots of switchable lenses), but could not do so because it was essentially perfect. Dare I say my visual acuity is now better than I can ever remember or could have imagined. I had to put drops in my eyes (three times per day) for 4 weeks following surgery, which stung a bit for a very short time, but it's 100% worth it to be able to see so well. The outcome was so impressive, I recommended my brother have his eyes examined and fixed by Dr. Gira as well.

Dr. Kursar also told me in 2005 that my left eye was in the early stages of keratoconus. I'm glad I did not have the surgery on my left eye as glasses work fine and my vision hasn't worsen in my left eye. I can't help but to wonder if my cornea was stolen. Interesting enough Ophthalmologist and Associates told me that I had a stigmatism that could be corrected with a gas permeable contact and they where right.

I had my appointment with Dr. Branstetter, who was very quick and thorough about the exam. This was the first time I have ever had my eyes dilated and, although it was an awkward feeling, I definitely felt like I was getting my money's worth out of the visit. The office was clean and well lit, and I picked up new frames while I was there (actually, the lady at the front desk suggested them and I loved them, so kudos to her!). When I came back the following week for my glasses, they were just as friendly the next time and I left feeling welcomed. Overall, a great experience. I have spoken to three of my coworkers who also go there and see Dr. Kursar because they work well with our insurance, and a family friend without our insurance, all of which have had great experience with the doctors and the office!

We had the pleasure of knowing Dr McReynolds for about 10 years. Then lost touch with her when she moved to another practice. Then when we lived in Kirkwood and found out she had opened up West County Vision we were happy to have her close by again. She took care of all our family optician needs during our stay in Kirkwood. She is friendly, thorough, knowledgeable and compassionate. The office staff and optician will make sure you find the right pair of glasses that best suits you. We have never felt rushed, they take the time to get to know you and your family. West County Vision reminds me of that small town practice that knows their patients. Check them out, you'll be glad you did. (Full disclosure, we no longer live in the area)

Everything about her office is spot-on: West County's staff is friendly & efficient, they have top-of-the-line diagnostic equipment, and Doc McReynolds is kind, perceptive, and professionally astute. She's also great with kids. The office has a selection of eye gear & frames in the lobby, and they will facilitate contact lens orders for you. It's definitely one of the most thoughtfully managed medical-related groups our family has used, and Dr. McReynolds stands above any optometrist we've met over the course of multiple-state relocations. The St. Louis/Kirkwood area is fortunate to have such a great resource.
