However, while I was waiting for 30 minutes to have our dog seen, I had to listen to loud talking with the staff including swearing and calling someone a "B****". Then Dr. Butler comes in (after I can hear her talking so loudly about how I chose not to get a kennel cough shot) and proceeds to be very abrasive, loud and dismissive. She cut me off about 5 times with every question I asked, was upset I didn't want to get the kennel cough shot and then acted very passive-aggressively when saying "so your dog doesn't like other dogs". That was her say I should get this shot. She continued to cut me off until I asked her to let me finish. In addition, the dentist who worked on my dog's teeth to clean them last said she could come back for a teeth cleaning without anesthesia as she was so calm and cooperative. When I brought this up to Dr. Butler, she nearly cut my head off saying that would be "bad medical practice and he has NO authority to determine this, only I CAN". SO UNPROFESSIONAL and again, seems as though they are only interested in profit, not wellness. She proceeded to tell me their dentist has no authority to make decisions or recommend treatments, in a very rough and unprofessional way. Hopefully, their new vet will be better.

I have been a client of Holladay Vet for the lifetime of two beloved pets, despite their higher…read morecost, because I felt that their service was good and they had helped thoughtfully throughout the years. I found a dog on the side of the road and rescued him to foster him. I went in to get him checked out so that I could know about any health problems before he was adopted to his forever home, and to get him some immunizations just in case he was behind. During this appt they signed me up for a Paw Plan, stating that would be the cheapest option and not mentioning that it would be several hundred dollars when I canceled the plan at his adoption. So here we are, I have spoken to their billing department (Quentin who was rude and aggressive from the beginning) and their manager (Brittney who spoke to me with a complete lack of empathy and told me it wasn't her job to explain to me why we couldn't come to a compromise over +-$100), neither of whom has been able to explain to me why I should be paying hundreds of dollars for an adopted dog to get two immunizations when I could have gone any number of other places for immunizations that would have costed me less than the Paw Plan payments. They were rude and completely uninterested in a compromised cost, and they have absolutely lost my business forever. Don't expect for any longevity of a perfect client who has paid tens of thousands of dollars over the years, to get you any special consideration. Just a small amount of compromise would have left me feeling better about the interaction and about Holladay Vet in general. I would STRONGLY suggest that Holladay Vet invest in some customer service with their billing. The vet techs and people working at the desk clearly have some; it would be a good idea to clean up the back half so that people like myself don't feel so betrayed and taken advantage of. I would suggest going to ANY other vet clinic in town.

Unfortunately, on my first visit to Red Butte I had to make the difficult decision to have her euthanized, but I really can't thank the staff enough for being so kind and caring throughout the process. Dr. McMullin was very gentle while examining Idgie. He provided me the options and handled the difficult conversation with genuine concern. The technician was amazing too-I wish I remembered her name. She got down on the floor to take Idgie's weight and also showed genuine care for her. Dr. McMullin talked me through it and gave me time alone with Idgie to decide. After administering the sedative, he gave me some more time with her while she went to sleep. She fell asleep in my arms with her chin resting on my forearm like she always did over the years, and I was able to take my time to say goodbye to her. While giving the second injection, Dr. McMullin and the technician were both so gentle and the three of us sat there petting her softly until she was at peace. I will never forget how Dr. McMullin took her gently in his arms and said, "we will take great care of her." The ladies at the front desk were so kind and caring as well, and I just appreciated how much everyone felt for me, even though it was my first time coming to this clinic. I look forward to bringing my other cat Buddy here very soon for a checkup. I know that he will be in great hands, and I can't wait for everyone to meet him. The vet is really good, she was able to save my dogs cracked tooth because she is specially trained to ado sealant and basically repair the tooth where most vets just pull it if it's broken. I was so happy they could save her large canine that she mostly chews with. The price was fair as well. Would highly recommend. Her teeth are perfectly white now. They also offer a sedation free dental cleaning service if the dog doesn't have major teeth problems like the broken tooth my dog has. If the dog has a good temperament they can clean the teeth with no sedation which would be much more affordable and safer for the dog. I am planning to return for the sedation free cleaning in the future.

**WARNING: NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE**…read more (It's been 7 months since the co-owner to my now deceased cat wrote this review... and we have still yet to hear from them or get any condolences whatsoever. I now feel compelled to re-share this as they are nominated for multiple undeserving 'Best of Utah' awards...) "Front desk staff are rude and without empathy. They told us they would call back with test results in X days and that a prescription would be ready for pickup in X days. That day came and went without contact. When we called them asking if the prescription was ready, and if there were test results, both were ready. But there was audible annoyance that we called them despite them not doing what they said they would, when they said they would. Dr. Lynette is nice but she has too much on her plate to do more than give a cursory glance at your pet's chart. She did not give our cat the attention she needed, and needed us to remind her of all of our cat's issues during each visit. We had an emergency and left a frantic, frightened message asking for help. Without any answer, we took our cat to an emergency vet. They immediately identified pre-existing issues and needs that Dr. Lynette failed to notice. Dr. Lynette treated our cat's symptoms and made zero effort in finding the underlying cause. This resulted in 2 traumatic experiences: 1) We had to put our poor sweet cat down. We lost a beloved member of our family. 2) We found out our beloved girl had been in pain for MONTHS and was quietly suffering because of undiagnosed and untreated issues - issues that the emergency vet eyeballed in their FIRST VISIT and that we were told weren't an issue at this vet. 3) That frantic, tear-filled voicemail that was left shortly before we took our cat to the ER? NEVER ANSWERED. How callous can you be to hear someone crying and asking for help and just...ignore it? We haven't been there in months, since our cat obviously passed away. A competent vet would have maybe noticed we weren't calling for our monthly prescription refill. Or that they never followed up on our cat's chronic UTI that was "being monitored" by them. Or that we are overdue for vaccines. Or that we are overdue for an annual check up. Nope. Nothing. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE IF YOU LOVE THEM. THEY CANNOT HANDLE ANYTHING BEYOND THE MOST BASIC CHECK UP TYPE CARE." I thought this was worth sharing again, as we are still heartbroken and no one deserves for this to happen to their furry family members. Rest in peace my sweet Cocoa girl. I will love you until the end of time. I'm sorry I failed you.

I started noticing he would growl when I touched him, which was very out of character. At first, I didn't think much of it, but as it worsened, I examined him more closely and was shocked to discover scabbed areas under both of his front legs, resembling severe rugburn. After another hike, I checked him immediately upon return and found his front legs raw and bleeding in multiple spots, with his fur matted in tight knots. I took him to urgent care, and the veterinarian confirmed the wounds were fresh trauma. My dog is 8 years old and very active, but because he's never been off leash before, I had specifically requested that he be kept leashed on hikes. The other dogs were off-leash, and I worry that while trying to keep up with the group, the handler, Caitlin, may have dragged him when he couldn't keep pace. I reached out to Mary for an explanation but received no clear response or indication of concern for my dog's condition. I asked Mary if she would cover the vet bill. Instead, she said she wanted to speak directly with my vet. When I brought that request to my vet, they informed me that she did not have a right to access my pet's medical information due to HIPAA laws. Despite everything, I was kind enough to let the situation go--but I refused to pay the bill for the hike where my dog was injured. Now Mary is charging my account anyway. A good business owner would have shown concern and at the very least offered an apology. Instead, she has shown no empathy and no accountability. This experience was incredibly distressing. I cannot recommend Merrypets based on what happened and how poorly it was handled. My dog has had no more injuries since he stopped going out with Merry Pets. He's happy again and no longer growls at me.
