It was so convenient that most of the museums were directly across the street from our Hilton hotel. This location is perfect most of the tourist spots were dotted all along the dock area here! It was a rainy day too so we were so lucky to be so close. After London we were so weary of cabs even though the most of the cabs are those vintage large black ones where your luggage can go at your feet. Most of the museums have had a donation box near the entrance/exit areas. This is smart because I definitely gave more on some occasions when we were thrilled with the exhibits. I actually tend to give more at the end of a visit instead of upfront. Some places ask straight away and some have a collection box near the exits. I think people are more generous after enjoying the museum fully. There were many beautiful exhibits inside. Many works associated with a "color" theme throughout the museum. I was very surprised to find pieces by Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso inside. Actually I had never seen this piece by Pablo and I loved it! His work is so different with each decade his style changed and evolved. If you travel to Liverpool I would highly suggest staying at the Hilton, all the museums are just a few blocks ahead to the port. Loved this Tate!

Accessed through the Bluecoat's courtyard garden or the entrance on College Lane, it's an exhibition space as well as a shop with 10-12 different shows each year. In keeping with founder Robert Gardner-Medwin's original aims, the Display Centre displays and sells the work of leading designers, artists and craft makers. There's some beautiful ceramics, pottery and sculptures alongside cool and functional glassware, metalwork and home decor like cushions. I quite liked the blue and white striped ceramics, silver jewellery and silk scarves but it was David Mellor's playful cutlery that captured my imagination the most.

One particular item that I fell in love with about a year ago was a wooden octopus, which was made so perfectly, I wanted it even though I really had no use for it other than sticking it on the mantle piece. So I turned over the price tag, to find that it cost nearly £800! If you're into your art and you can afford to shell out on one off pieces of fantastic design and craftsmanship, this is definitely the place for you. Alternatively this is also the place if you're looking for a unique gift for a special someone. After you've spend this month's mortgage on an item, you can relax with a coffee in the courtyard and work out how far you could have travelled for the same price!

I have been in for specific exhibitions when some space is cleared on the top floor but mainly a collection of various work by all sorts of artists hangs along the staircase or propped along the floor. It gives the place an organic feel far removed from many sterile arts spaces but then anyone wishing to really take in what is on offer here will be a bit distracted by the pieces cobbled together. i think it is an enjoyable experiences as you feel like you have the run of an eccentric collector's attic and could stumble across a little gem with the next flight of stairs.

Not only are the works rather spiffing and the location exceptionally central, you'll get a complimentary drink on a Saturday afternoon while you view the art. I'm there! Taxi? Or train. Indeed, you can easily pop in here from Central or Lime Street. The space is used absolutely beautifully, I love for example the paintings on bare brick walls and the way some of them are crammed together almost collage-like. A lot of the exhibits are quintessentially Liverpudlian too - you'll see depictions of the city's streets during times gone by, some handsome portraits of Mr Lennon and these are all available for sale. Yep, this is a proper gallery as you can purchase paintings, obviously if you're made of money but if you're stumped for cash it's just as nice to sit back and take them in here. I'd heartily recommend a visit here. Unfortunately it's not wheelchair accessible due to circumstance and the building itself, but if you get a chance do pop in as it's one of the more unique ones in the city.

The selection is very extensive with everything from oil based paints, acrylics and waters to all sorts of papers and cards, pencils and brushes. The prices on the other hand are not cheap. This is hardly struggling artist friendly and you will rarely see the street artists and creatives changing the face of Liverpool buying their gear in bulk from here - it is aimed at those with an expensive hobby. And all of this is sort of reflected in the gallery next door. Largely figuratively based pieces in a Vetriano style you are hardly going to find anything cutting edge or unique but Rennie's does stock a lot of original pieces available to take off the shelf.

I came across a pet shop in Blackpool not long ago, Doggy Style....Brilliant!!!!!!!!! We buy any car dot com.....brillliant!!! The list is endless. Whether its simplicity or a clever pun you got to add a bit of umph to your business by naming it appropriately otherwise you've lost the audience before even starting the engine. Now it may seem as if I'm slating this place. I'm not, I'm merely pointing out that as good as intentions or story there might be in naming your art gallery "good taste gallery" it nearly lost me as a possible punter just because the name made me cringe a tiny bit. In the grand scheme of things it didn't put me off too much and I managed to check it out. I'm here to report it is worth a gander after all. There is quite a diverse mix of offerings here really. The gallery exhibits a full range of arts including paintings, glass, ceramics, and local crafts. On sale are numerous other handmade quirky things such as toys cards and clothes. On top of this quirkiness they have a coffee bar and seating area inside and out where a wide range of delicious teas, coffees, fresh fruit juices and tasty snacks are happily served. They also stock some contemporary and classic handmade jewellery made by skilled local and national makers, which I am unable to tell you more about as it did interest me little. I can however for the benefit of those in the jewelery know mention they stock the following to name but a few. Slate Jewelery(clean the slate) Diana Morrison(Morrisons Ad Hammond!!), Paula Bolton(O2 "Bolt on" service), Silver Jewelery (Boring name) Abigail Jacobs(Jacob..twilight saga?? NO I'm not a fan!!), Alison Bailey Smith(Mr & Mrs Smith), Fashion Jewelery(original!!) Right enough jewlery malarky. Bottom line is, I like this place, and would recomend you pop in for a coffee and biscuits. Have a snoop around and see if you have good taste or not!! Shazam!!!
