What? My Church isn't on Yelp!? Well, it is now. ...and if you have read my reviews you may be surprised to find that I go to Church. Hey, I'm still a normal guy who likes to have fun, God would want me to, right? I've been going here since april and I really love it here. I feel at home and everyone is very nice and friendly, even funny. I tried a few different churches in long beach but this one is more my speed. Relaxed and friendly. People wear shorts, sandals, and t-shirts. Some don't wear anything at all! Just kidding. I'm not going to go into my own personal reasons for why I go to church and I'm not going to tell you any stereotypical Christian ploys in order to get you to go here. My personal motto is that everyone has their own relationship with God, or whatever they believe in which keeps them connected to this world. At this Church (Open Door Ministries) I have met a group of people who just happen to have the same beliefs as me, Christian. The music is contemporary, the service is always new and entertaining believe it or not, and the group of people that go here are the most down to earth good hearted people that you will ever find. This is an open and affirming church that accepts ALL walks of life. If you are interested and you feel like you want to check us out, come on down. Love my church too.........Open Door Ministries.....we have seen a lot of changes and God is really working within us. I have been with this church when it was at Phil's Ballroom in the City of Orange........WOW.....almost 17 years. When I looked around today at the service......I am the person who has been there the longest and yet I never tire of what is going on in our little church. We have so many new people now...and thanks to God for bring them to us. We are a tight knit little family, with our weird little habits.....but than, what church is perfect? Thank you Dan for all you do.......thanks to the ODM Band and choir and greater thanks to God for my church family.....I would not be who I am today if it were not for them and their love and help. I feel blessed that I was introduced to this Church. I was greeted at the door with a hug and a warm smile. This place of worship is exactly what I needed and wanted and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to renew their faith here, which is what I desperately needed. It was very welcoming and everyone is friendly and made my first visit special. The pastor is down to earth, eloquent and spoke from the heart. I especially loved the music... it soothed my soul. Alright. How do I sum up this experience? My life has changed since I started attending Open Door Ministries. I've been in the church all of my life, but perhaps because of that, it has been harder over the years to find sermons that relate to me where I am now, and that I can immediately apply in my daily life. Whatever your relationship is with church, ODM has something for everyone. The messages meet you where you are and challenge you, but with love and support. Pastor Dan really focuses on transformation. He helps us understand that it is God's power that transforms our lives. He has simple, easy to follow lessons that make it easy to refer back to them in the future. RC also does amazing sermons! My relationships with God, myself, and others are changing because of what I learn here. If you want to see more before you visit, there are many sermons up on Youtube. I listened to two sermons there before visiting, and I was hooked! I find it easy to talk to anyone attending ODM. My fiancee and I were looking for an affirming church, but what is special about this church is that the focus is on Christ. We enjoy church as well as the numerous social activities that are offered. We feel welcome and supported, and really value everyone who makes ODM so special, from the staff and volunteers to the attendees. ODM is casual, come as you are. Enjoy the music, the sermon, and the fellowship. And one more thing, the people at ODM have some of the biggest hearts I've ever encountered. Open Door has been a safe place for me to heal, recover, and continue on in my faith journey. I love this place because everyone is welcomed, and affirmed, including people within the LGBTQ Community. I love the teaching and the fact that it is done in context, with accurate historical, and cultural background, so the Bible is not used to brow beat anyone. And... they are even offering their Sunday services on FaceBook Live, which is awesome!!! read more

Open Door Ministries is a wonderful church experience. The majority of members are LGBT, but my fiance and I are straight (as are a few other members). When ODM says "everyone is welcome," they mean it. We were welcomed with open arms (literally) on the very first day we attended. I had been a bit skittish about joining another church, after some painful experiences with previous churches, but ODM is my new church family, and I look forward to attending every week, and am grateful for the several new friends I have made. The people at ODM are wonderful: friendly, loving, fun. It's a truly diverse church, with a range of sexuality, ethnicity, age, religious background, etc. There are even several people who do sign interpreting each Sunday. The style of worship is "contemporary Christian," in my estimation--which was quite an adjustment for me, having come from a "high church" background. But, I actually really like the praise band and the worship style, now that I've gotten used to it. The band is very talented. The sermons are always good; referring back to Scripture, but looking ahead to practical application and transformation in daily life. There is even weekly "soul training homework" to help us put the message into practice in the coming week. There are also numerous additional opportunities for fellowship throughout the week, ranging from the purely social, to the prayerful and studious. I'm very grateful that we found ODM. It is definitely worth checking out if you are interested in a Christian church (that emphasizes Christ), that is also open and affirming. read more

ODM has been my "Church Home" for close to 15 years now. It has become a family for me. I know that I am far from perfect. Yet the people there still love me for who I am & where I am on my walk with God. I am still learning about my faith & I couldn't be at a better church to help me with my walk. I have been a Christian for some 20+ years and have been to some good churches and some not so good churches. I have been attending Open Door Ministries in Long Beach since 2011. Open Door Long Beach is not only a good church, it is a great church! Pastor Dan is by far one of the best examples I have seen in a Pastor and the people there are some of the most welcoming and loving people I have had the pleasure of knowing and growing with as a Christian. Not sure what the earlier post was all about, but I know my Pastor and I know the people that come to ODM. Neither are anywhere near deserving of such a sad and angry review. read more
