Within the past couple of years our Hispanic ministries have grown and we now feature bilingual worship...which is spectacular. The Episcopal Church focuses on the dignity of each person and what it means to be a Christian in the 21st Century. I attended a memorial for a family member. The service was just wonderful and a meal was put on by…read morethe church free of charge. Everyone was fed and all was very much appreciated. At the end of the meal someone brought a home baked peach cobbler to add to the meal. At this point the First Lady of the church snapped at the individual who brought the cobbler. She stated that no outside food was to be served. The food was promptly removed from the counter and placed on the table to take away, but some of the relatives began helping themselves. The pastor then came out and raised his voice at everyone sitting at the table. His spouse came out as well and began to raise her voice in a hostile, aggressive manner. This was uncalled for and very shocking to see religious leaders acting so aggressively. I'm thinking that the staff may have been concerned about liability if someone became sick, but the approach they took was highly unprofessional. I do not think I would ever want to attend a church like that one!

Everyone is so welcoming, and loving, and they genuinely care about you. I've been to churches before where there were obvious clicks, and you weren't welcomed. That doesn't exist here. The moto here is "everyone is a somebody, and everyone is important." The thing that REALLY got me though, is their AMAZING kids ministry. All the kids go upstairs, and then the doors are locked for everyones safety. They all start off in a huge room for worship, and then they all get separated according to their ages. we also have an amazing Awana program every Wednesday night. Thursdays our Overcomers meet, and that's a group for anyone dealing with addiction .There is something for everyone here.

The check in for the kids is the label system where the parent has to have the matching sticker to claim children. I really like that they print a label for the diaper bag since it's not all fancy or anything. Big bright post its announce my son has a peanut allergy, and they double checked the infant snack ingredients to make sure we were ok. The service was interesting. Sorta concert like, dark with fancy lights on stage. Doesn't look churchy but that's ok. I didn't recognize any of the songs, but they were beautiful. Contemporary music with guitars, cello, violin, drums and singers. Relaxed dress code, from jeans and tees to dresses. Nothing over the top. Really enjoyed the message about Mary pouring perfume on the feet of Jesus. The bulletin did not have notes or an order of worship/ list of songs, etc, so I was a little disappointed there. Lastly there were offering envelopes but no connection cards for us to request prayer or information. Will definitely attend for another week or so!
