My wife and I up- graded our boat from a 17 foot skiff to a beautiful 23 foot Robalo bay boat. Buying used is already a stressful journey not knowing what to expect to find that needs attention. We first needed to update the trailer. I did a lot of research to find someone that could take care of this. I found Big Kahuna Marine and read how personal they were and how well they took care of their customers. They took care of the trailer like it was his own. They did a great job and made sure everything was perfect and safe. Later I needed some cosmetic work on the fiberglass due to previous owners lack of care. The swim platforms were damaged and the top sides above the rub rails were cracked on both sides. Alex and his team did an outstanding job and it looks brand new. Tris Colket is one of the best charter boat Captains in the Fort Pierce/Vero Beach area. (2) He has a beautiful well-kept custom sport fishing boat named the Last Mango which offers a comfortable and spacious open deck area for your party of up to 6 to either sit comfortably in the shade or bask in the full sun. (3) The Captain and first mate are friendly, personable and conscientious. I am a repeat customer with Capt. Tris for 5 years including our charter yesterday. The last three years have been extremely productive with an average of approximately 19 fish/year and 190 lbs of fish/year. We've caught 11 different variety of fish; King Mackerel, Baracuda, Cobia, Mahi, Shark, Sea Bass, Amber Jack, Bonita, Tuna, Snapper and Sail. Our most memorable fish in recent years include a 48 lbs Cobia (1 hr 15 min battle), a 7 foot Sailfish (1 hour battle), two 30 lbs Amber Jack and a 25 lbs King Mackerel that took 30 minutes to land. (TIP #1) Concerns for sea sickness have been completely alleviated for my family by having everyone take 1 Bonine in mild seas (1-3ft) and 2 Bonine in moderate seas (2-4ft). The ocean here in the summer tends to calm. (TIP #2) Pack 2 coolers; one with your beverages of choice, including Gatorade and the second with sandwiches, snacks and plenty of cookies/sweets (also NO Bananas - these are BAD LUCK for fishing in case you didn't know. Bananas are prohibited from all fishing boats!) - Of course , bring plenty of sun screen, wear light clothing and soft soled shoes that do not leave marks on the white deck of the boat. (TIP #3) The first mate lives primarily on cash tips from customers, so plan on tipping at least 15% of the total cost of the fishing trip directly to the first mate at the end of your journey. (TIP #4) Plan to be at the dock at 6:45 AM with departure at 7:00AM. We arrived back at the dock 4:00 PM sharp. (TIP #5) Capt. Tris will filet your fish for you which you can then take directly to either of the Marina's two restaurants (Tiki Bar or Cobb's Landing) where they will cook your fish for you. (TIP #6). Tell Capt. Tris, that Charlie and Lisa from Orlando said hi! :)

After nearly 2k and numerous cancellations, no shows and a lot of frustration and two months, I was left with some wires pulled through the firewall. He asked me to order parts which I did. They were all wrong: Pitman arm and ignition module had to be bought again because they were incorrect parts. The first day he arrived his truck leaked a lot of oil all over my driveway and I spent an hour cleaning it. Unfortunately a total waste of time and money. I don't think he's dishonest, I just think he's inept. After review of his response I have made additions: see fotos and the dates in the screenshots. This response was totally unacceptable and to blame me for this lack of professionalism is just plain wrong! See the dates and fotos. This truck is a 140k truck with some needs to I wanted addressed. It needs a few parts like you'll see in the chat! This wasn't a customer scorned. I just wanted my truck fixed !!! This of you that have been scammed and strung along by a mechanic will understand!!!! See the screenshot with cancellations and change dates. This was chronic cancellations and changes. I missed work one day. In fact, I even gave him my code to the garage to accommodate him. But, too much is too much. I couldn't justify paying him for constantly uncertainty. I can do this all day. Let me start by the metadata claim.... These are screen shots take the day of this posting genius....look at the dates in the chat. The parts you said I choose cheaper parts of lower quality ... see the new screen shots where you told me to purchase the specific parts and I did. You have disgraced yourself and lied and it's here in black and white with your chat. Also, pay attention to the dates that you told me to purchase and my response was I got them. You say you had no role which parts I purchased which is an absolute falsehood! It's in black and white. I have the chats here that you directed me to purchase certain items and I did! Highly customized? It's a totally stock 302 Ford Motor. The truck is a complete original and stock. The claim about a Latin America Truck is laughable. Is he a mechanic or a comedian? It was manufactured in the USA for Latin America and Canada. Know why? It has a speedometer in KM and hour. Yah the speedometer is in metric KM. Any novice can see that in the foto. My gosh! As for your cancellations and late shows. Look at 1 of numerous screen shots where you cancelled after I waited all day. In fact, I had to text you and ask "guess you're not showing?" I believe that was the day I didn't go to work and waited all day for you. Another falsehood that you claim all cancellations were done in Advance. See it in the screenshot You're deceit and lack of candor this will only make you look even more unprofessional. Keep editing, I'll keep posting the truth. I'm awaiting for an apology. BTW - having a couple friends make 5 star reviews the day I call you out isn't fooling anyone. They can see the dates and the lack of activity on their accounts. You had 2, 5 star ratings and nothing ore when I hired you... should have been the red flag to stay away. Now you have several with no depth and 3 of them posted within a couple hours of each other yesterday .

We booked a time 6 months in advance at Shearwater Ft.Pierce to have them put our new hardtop on…read moreour 43 ft sailboat..We called them a week before we got there to our Marina at Safe harbor to verify it was still a go. We arrived at our marina and went to the office 3 days before we were scheduled for them to put on our new hardtop and made sure there was anything else we needed to do. The day we got our boat into our reserved slip for Shearwater to work on the 3 employees were arguing with one another, didn't have the right tools and then Tom suddenly tells us he has to leave at 2pm which was 2 hours later and we had just started. They lift operator then suddenly tells us that he was only available until 1pm because he had another job to do. Instead of us being able to pull our boat in the reserved slip we booked for an allotted time and walking away and them calling us when it was done...They had us helping and reading directions to the guy with the tools..Then they tied off our sailboat to the chain link fence instead of the cleats.. At one point Tom said asked if we would be able to help them carry our hardtop down the dock and place it on our sailboat that way since they weren't going to be able to finish in the reserved time they told us it would be..we looked at Tom like he'd lost his mind. It was a complete nightmare..we are not customers with unrealistic expectations at all, but when we paid a lot of money for the job to be done right and made sure well in advance that everything was alright with the date, the time, and what we would need to do this turned out to be an awful experience. We had been told before that Shearwater was not a good place to get work done on your boat and most people we talked to didn't have a good experience. We always like to give people the benefit of the doubt. After Shearwater went one hour over our allotted slip time we thought it was completed. We realized after they were specifically shown and marked where the supports are placed and where to drill ...they ended up drilling into the wrong spot. This was April. It took Shearwater until June to fix where they drilled and placed one of the supports in the wrong spot...They were back and forth down our pier while they were attempting to fix the support for the hardtop.. After talking with the manager and calling numerous times as well as going to the office and letting them know that we were extremely disappointed in what should have taken 3 hours to complete ended up taking them almost 3 months to complete. We weren't going to pay for repairing what they did wrong after it was specifically marked. They did not charge us for their mistake. We will never use them again. Tom is not good for that business. He never answers your phone calls, texts, and makes appointments and promises he never keeps. We wanted to give him one more chance by paying him to do a small fiberglass repair on our sailboat. Well every time we would go talk to him he would promise to come do the job. This went on for about 3 months until we finally gave up. We know everyone has different experiences with Shearwater but we wanted to make people aware of the horrible experience we had with them. We are people who always make sure we're prepared for any projects we need done and we do not put unrealistic expectations on people and businesses either. We just expect to have a business communicate regularly with us when we pay for services. We expect a business to make repairs on anything they messed up.We expect honesty. We've always said the best advertisement for a business is word of mouth. If you use Shearwater good luck.
