A 5/5 for luxurious architecture.
A 1/5 for services.
If you're pregnant, and want some luxury, go to The Byron. You'll feel better.
This was a gift from my husband for a birthday pregnancy package. I have been to many spas across the world in the past 20 years, so let me tell you what was good and bad:
Pregnancy massage (4/5 stars) was nice, and I was relaxed but there was no ability to lay on my stomach. Side laying only.
Pedicure (1/5 stars) was asked to lay on my back with my legs straight. This causes stress, lack of oxygen, and even risk of still-birth to the fetus (https://amp.livescience.com/56959-pregnancy-lying-back-stillbirth.html) so I sat up awkwardly, naked on a massage bed hurting my nicely massaged back while hunched over forward on some pillows! Later, none of the polish on one foot had even set and had smeared everywhere so the receptionist redid the polish in the lobby before I left at the end of the treatment (no kidding!)
Facial (2/5 stars) Here again I was asked to lay on my back, but could slightly twist my body and legs. Not ideal but better to relax. There were no natural or organic options available for pregnant ladies. Still 'safe' but two days later I've broken out on my forehead and chin, and I rarely get pimples.
Collagen bath (1/5 stars) was COLD. I spent 25 minutes draining the bath and adding hot water to make it warm, and trying not to freeze, instead of relaxing, with a knock on the door 10 minutes later telling me my treatment was over.
Food (0/5) I ate before I came, but let me tell you, after hours of treatment any pregnant lady is starving. There are no food options available at this location, or tasty treats such as mints, or a nice chocolate, as you can find at other spas.
Refresh (0/5) there are no options at this spa to blow dry or curl your hair, freshen up and shave, or the like, as you may find in other spas.
I get the feeling that this is more of a "place to be seen" than a surreal spa experience.
