As for the store itself, they have good lunch specials. The guy cooks mini pizzas and other things is a toaster oven and they are surprisingly good. I stop in here sometimes to grab a snack or some junk food. They don't have a lot of junk food, but they have enough to keep happy. They don't have 5 cent candies so that's a strike against them in my books. It looks a bit run down inside. The shelves are pretty ratty. And there's not much separating them from the computer store next door. They have good prices, which is not common in neighborhood convenience stores. They usually jack up their prices and rely on their location and the "convenience" factor, but not these guys. They are very good for that.

The guys that work here always make my day…read more It's so easy to let people just come and go, ring stuff in, take their money, and get on with your day of stocking, inventory, and whatever else they do. But this Mac's is different. I've been here three times in the last two weeks and every time, whoever is working is great. They always smile and talk to me. They sometimes joke around with me. And they are very nice in general. They ask if I want a bag and they do it with a smile on their faces. I can't help but love this Mac's. The people are great and that makes all the difference in the world. LOVE IT!

I stopped in for an aloe drink while waiting for the 112 bus and decided to wander the store a bit and price compare. The prices here are much better than at the 2 big convenience stores but the selection was more limited and there were quite a few shelves and coolers that looked like they desperately needed filling. The lady working the front counter seemed nice and unlike the big 2 convenience stores they seem to welcome their customers hanging around a bit with picnic tables set up at the side of the building versus 7-11 and Mac's no loitering policies. If I am in the neighborhood again I would pop in again for a drink or snack as they seem like a pretty permanent fixture in this community.

There's quite a variety of items in this store - you just need the time and patience to look through everything. The store layout is a bit awkward. The "aisles" are pretty tight. Clausterphobic people might have trouble maneuvering inside. It's a bit of a maze to find your way to the cashier at the back of the store. Nowadays, there are larger Asian grocery stores available that sell the same or similar items. However, I do see the value in supporting these smaller stores and their owners, whenever we have a chance. For those who live in walking distance to this location, this store is convenient compared to other places where you might have to drive farther.

I would say buy your staples somewhere else and grab the meat, bread, cheese, and health products here. And maybe have a nice lunch with a glass of wine. The prices do seem to be a bit higher than competitors, but I'm not necessarily going grocery shopping here and you probably shouldn't be either (for the people complaining). It's a convenience store - you pay for convenience. Yeah, the prices might be marginally higher - but nothing is stopping you from going elsewhere other than... convenience.
