Our family was troubled with windows that got constant sunlight on one entire side of our home…read more Even though we had double-paned windows, the sun came through in the early AM, heating the room undesirably, and producing glare which made it difficult to read or watch TV. Additionally, we knew that this much sunlight would soon begin to fade our hardwood floors and furniture, which we wanted to avoid.
After doing much research, we came to the conclusion that the best solution for us was to install a window film that would reduce the heat, minimize the glare, and block 99% of the harmful UV rays. Having had a window film installed on a previous home, we believe the 3M film to be the best, for its performance characteristics, as well as the fact that it has a high degree of transparency, and doesn't diminish the view through your window in any way.
Finding our way to the 3M website, we asked them to provide us a local authorized dealer referral. 3M referred Bob and his team at American Window Tinting. Bob was quick to return my call, set up an appointment for consultation, and show me multiple options, as well as a scientific demo for how the 3M film reduces temperature and UV rays. Bob then measured my windows and provided me a written quote at no cost.
A couple of weeks later, my wife and I scheduled the installation with Bob's office. His installer, Jack, was friendly, knowledgeable, and showed up on time and ready to work. The entire installation took about four hours and when Jack was complete, he cleaned up after himself and explained the curing time for the installation.
It's now been about 5 weeks, and our windows look phenomenal. The film is high visibility, so our views are not impacted. We can now watch TV, read, and spend time in all of our rooms without the unwanted glare or heat.
If you're considering a window option to improve the energy efficiency of your home, and protecting your furniture and floors, I highly recommend Bob and his team at American Window Tinting.
